Thinking he sees something up ahead, Knuckles will lead his little group west, toward what vaguely looks like a widening of the corridor, possibly into a cave?

Hearing the commotion Ralph turns to Terryk
They're in trouble, farmer, let's help." he offers the torch to Terryk "Take this, now you've lost your pitchfork"
Terryk takes the torch and nods "Sure Ralph"
They both hurry around the corner.
Buckminster looks at the grill up ahead "Maybe there's a mechanism around here somewhere to open it, if I could see!"
Loreta tuts "I've got a torch" she gets a torch out and lights it from the one Anne has

Arya shakes her head in disgust as the group scatters like so many mice. Come with me, Ruby she says, following the others through the secret door. Dart clacks his beak in irritation.
Ruby follows, as instructed. She still seems uncomfortable with the sword, but at least is holding it in the 'ready' position.
Derrek leads from the rear, bravely. Let's try the right side tunnel first.

Knuckles shrugs, and turns right (north) instead of going west, following Derrek's suggestion.

ah, those knuckleheads...murmur Tiberius. He try to see if the bars are movable. He is even willing to make some force against, but not to damage it. If he see it is not easy to open, he will desist and try to convince the others to regroup.
Anne and Zeek agree, and will wait the dwarf inspection. LePlank will offer, if they decide to regroup with the others, that he could guard this passage while the others explore

Ralph and Terryk rush across the pallet to investigate the sounds. The first thing they see is that the floor is raised 3ft above their foot level. Luke is hanging onto a pitched floor (Made Save) that slopes forward into a pit, exposed by a shifting wall at the end of the corridor.
Arnie and Luke’s torch have disappeared over the edge of the floor’s bottom.
Buckminster moves forward and searches (Die Roll by GM) for a loose block or hidden void that might hide a mechanism.
Loreta lights a torch and moves into the secret corridor.
Arya and Ruby enter the secret hallway.
Knuckles, Einstein and Derrek follow one of the underfloor passages. This passage does not show any signs of artificial working, and there isn’t a square corner to be found. After 25ft, the natural cavern way narrows to a sliver of rock and ends.
Tiberius grunts and squats with dwarven strength, trying to move the portcullis. (Make a STR check, 1d20)
Anne, Zeek and LePlank hold their positions and wait for results.

Tiberius tight his fists around the bars, and:

Anne will consult sir Honkalot. He must be giving signs on what to do, but she is not pure enough to see them!
LePlank goes: "So, Arya, heh? Have you being adventuring for a while? You sure looks like a adventure!"

Arya proceeds slowly, watching carefully for traps and tripwires. She answers LePlank as she doesI haven't. I've done plenty of hunting- and my father has told me many stories of his days as a sellsword. There always seems to be someone willing to pay to have a cave explored, or a ruin mapped, or some such.
Ruby huffs and fidgets, walking behind Arya. She clearly hates Arya's slow pace and caution- and the fact that LePlank isn't speaking to _her_ only makes things worse.
Derrek studies the walls and floor as the group proceeds, looking for anything that might be a secret hiding place for gold, jewelry, and great wealth. Do either of you need a light? I have plenty- only 2 coppers each...

As
Luke tries to climb back onto the level ground, he calls out to Arnie, to see if he is still alive.
Knuckles chuckles at Derrek's offer to sell him a torch. He waves his lit torch back and forth, and offers
"How many you got? Think we need to light a few more?". Knuckles will then lead Derrek and
Einstein back to the intersection. From there, he'll head west.
The fate of
Arnie remains shrouded in mystery.

With Terryk providing torchlight, Ralph tries to help Luke climb out of the pit, either by hauling him out if he can reach or dropping his rope down.
Buckminster and Loretta look for a way past the bars

Tiberius grunts and strains to bend and lift the barred barrier. He has no luck with either attempt.
Arya focuses on purifying her thoughts so she can receive the message from her goose.
LePlank continues to follow other’s lead.
Arya checks, slowly, for traps and tripwires (Die Roll by DM).
Ruby fidgets at the pace set by Arya.
Derrek searches for hidden voids that might contain treasures (Die Roll by DM). Nothing of interest can be found in the natural cavern wall.
Luke pulls himself up, to the top edge of the pitched floor. He sees Ralph and Terryk come to their aid. He calls out for Arnie, with a dismal effort, knowing in his heart that the mercenary is most-likely dead. (He had 1hp)
Knuckles, Derrek and Einstein leave the narrow dead-end passage and walk back to the intersection and then to the west. They cautiously probe the second natural corridor until it widens and opens into a 15ft x 15ft chamber. Scattered about the floor are the desiccated remains of an unknown animal, dead for a long time.
Ralph reaches forth and helps Luke off the trapped floor section, that does not reset to the level position. The woodcutter catches his breath and is overcome with sorrow for Arnie.
Buckminster and Loretta search for a means to open and bypass the wall of bars (Die roll by DM). There is little evidence that a lift or trip mechanism is on this side of the barrier.

"Bah", say the dwarf. "It must open from the inside. Lets band together with the other guys, down that hole?"
Tiberius, Zeek and Anne decide its the wise thing to do. Also, sir Honkalot seems to agree.
LePlank volunteer to guard this secret door shut, so if anything comes, he will sign for the group.

Knuckles and Einstein will poke around in the remains, hoping to either see anything else interesting in the debris, or figure out what this was... is it possible to tell if either it was a giant snake, or was pooped out by a giant snake?
Luke, feeling extremely sad for his lost friend, suggests that they try to lower a rope, to see if there is anything interesting down at the bottom of the slide. Is there torchlight visible from the bottom of *something* at the end, so we might estimate how deep it is, or does it seem either to have gone out or fallen to far to see?

Arya takes her turn studying the layout of the room beyond the bars. Seeing no clues that the others haven't, she turns back toward the main room.
Ruby scowls as Arya pushes past her. Rude! she says, but then follows the falconer.
Derrek follows the others, holding his candle up to light the remains. Soon enough, he crouches to look for anything of obvious value in the mess.

Tiberius, Zeek, Anne & Sir Honkalot use the rope and descend, through the hole, into the under-floor chamber.
LePlank remains to guard the secret door and watch for any activity from beyond the barred door.
Loreta and Buckminster follow Tiberius and the others into the basement.
Ralph and Terryk search the immediate area for a reset mechanism for the tilted floor (Die roll by DM). They are unable to find anything used for such a purpose.
Knuckles and Einstein dig through the debris lying in the chamber. They appear to be the remains of a pair of giant weasels. No cause of death can be determined, but they do not appear to have been digested by another animal. (Die roll by DM)
Luke asks Ralph for a rope to try and investigate the pit at the bottom of the pitched floor section. A faint flicker of light shows through the darkness at the edge of the pit, indicating Luke's torch was not extinguished during the fall.
Arya returns to the main room with Ruby. They chat with LePlank and glance towards the trio in the northern passage, investigating the floor trap and Arnie’s fate.
Derrek helps to search through the mummified carcasses, trying to find something of value in the mess. (Die roll by DM) He finds nothing but dried bones and chunks of tissue.

Getting there, Zeek point out to the snake
"Bgeesus, another snake!" and then he realizes its dead. "Lets get to the other guys, yes?"
Tiberius follow the track to the others, as Anne and sir Honkalot. When they see the side paths (north and south), Anne feels that the gods are showing opportunities to test her faith, so she unleash sir Honkalot, so he can choose the correct path.

Arya moves to talk with the folks at the northern side of the room. What's down that corridor? We found a short corridor leading to a barred opening- with what looks like a way to move the bars on the other side.
Ruby looks dubiously down the hole where the others are gathered. Is it icky down there? she calls.
Derrek looks around the chamber he's in. Still not finding any of the chests of gold he expected, he heads back toward the fork in the tunnel, ready to try the third branch. If somebody stole all the treasure before I got here to claim it... he mutters.

Knuckles and Einstein will join Derrek in checking out the third, south passage. When they see the others, Einstein will call out to them, telling them that the tunnels they've found are bare, but they should check out some other ones.
Luke will try to lower himself down to the lip of the pit, if aided by Ralph and Terryk, to see what's down there... did Arnie fall onto another bed of spikes, or did he fall into something more interesting?
