Off Duty (OOC)
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Whoops, misread who said that. Is there any sort of protocol for "arriving" I assumed this was my charachters first field office meeting so I wasnt sure if you wanted a whole arrival opening or what?
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
However you want to play it. Basically the firehouse has been getting areanged for the past few weeks and is officially opening. Julia has been working the office end of things in that time and us well established. From there, feel free to go crazy and express yourselves. What would your character be doing?Taaz wrote:Whoops, misread who said that. Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Moving in, i am assuming we have at least a bunk at the firehouse. Can we Choose to live there or is that against regulations? Then probably exploring around the firehouse. I'm assuming by that description this is the last little bits to be put in or painted but entirely operational.
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Bunks, living quarters, food. Just like in GBs movies and cartoons. You can opt into an apartment of your own for off duty hours but it comes from your private funds.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Awesome, yeah hes kind of a GB lifer so i don't know that it ever occurred to him to live outside the firehouse. I looked around and didn't see is the firehouse a replica of the NYC HQ, like a McDonalds franchise some stuff might be different but mostly the same as all the others? Or is this just a renovated building that is different? I just wondered how similar it would look for wandering around purposes.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
My character is content living in the HQ. I was thinking that it didn't even need to be a firehouse, but they are practical as they have an integrated garage and living area. I would rather not have an exact replica. This is our team, and should have its own identity. Who's for putting a hot tub and wet bar up on the roof? ;D
P.S. I could do some research on the area and maybe find a building that after a bit of photoshopping would suit our purposes. I enjoy the chance to work on my skills.

I feel we should get an SUV of some kind. Maybe an old Ford Bronco, painted white?
) It has the carrying capacity but also the off-road capability we may need in this area.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Yeah I was thinking something like that, maybe an expedition or something with lots of storage. My players have a bronco.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I was making a slightly off-color OJ Simpson reference, lol. Yeah, a Ford Expedition or Jeep Commander seem like good candidates.
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Ah I totally missed it haha. I was trying to figure out how to embed dropbox pics here, apparantly new dropbox is dumb.
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I love the talk going back and forth here! Zeromancer: If you are wanting to flex some Photoshop muscles that would be awesome! I would suggest maybe the Firehouse on Cavanaugh Road, (Station 9, see Email) or maybe one of the many abandoned buildings on Towson near Down Town (Garrison) on the Corner of Towson and South D
I can vouch for it having a full basement garage and *ahem* bedrooms up top. It would make for an interesting location with the only real problem being that it would be hard to get to the interstate, but then again, that is what the siren is for. One in particular that comes to mind is an old Biker bar with some ill reputed history that could be fun to come up later,
The ideas you are having about what kind of Ecto to buy is good too. You are certainly thinking of the correct things that can come up later in the story. Off Road is certain to come up at some point, and all the vehicle types you are tossing around are certainly popular in the area for those very reasons. (I drive a 2004 Avalanche myself which I think would make an interesting Ecto) But Certainly the Expedition, Commander, and Bronco would be awesome as well. I will justify anything you can point to as a "For sale" ad or a dealership ad, depending on just how new or old you want to go.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
both locations I had thought of, one obviously more modern but smaller, has easy access to the interstate from multiple directions. The second is an older but larger space with a basement garage that exits into the alley in back and is near the hospital and historic downtown. Harder to get to the interstate, but you've got a siren

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
The two-story building is more of what I had in mind, though it has too many first floor windows. I may need to remove a few. I like the location too, kind of a run down looking urban-ish neighborhood, the kind of place no one will be too concerned about if the containment grid ever blows.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
You can always say some of them were "Bricked up" which is a popular thing happening in that part of the fort right now.Zeromancer wrote:The two-story building is more of what I had in mind, though it has too many first floor windows. Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Also, sorry about the rain, guys. When I posted, I checked the weather in Fort Smith today, 75 degrees and rain. I figured I'd try to be accurate.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
LOL! I love it! Actually this time of the year we are usually 99% humidity, 110+, all the bugs you could ever hate, and not a drop of rain in site until October. We are setting into an early winter pattern and will likely have a hard one at that. Yay!Zeromancer wrote:Also, sorry about the rain, guys. Anyway, it is kind of nice to have a rainy start as it sets a different mood than the usual. I like it and it is a great touch. Add a Brownie point!

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
No problem! That actually was a cool little detail I probably definitely would not have come up with.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

This is an actual representation of bugs during the summer in the southeast.Bluehorse wrote:LOL! I love it!
