Home Sweet Home
Re: Home Sweet Home
Zefarrel: Watermelon seems to be a servant, but is also a metal golem capable of disintegration. I think we should avoid combat with it.
She sees the pathetic elf fail to pick up the C but nothing untoward happens to him. Shaking her head, she moves over to the table. Let me try (she attempts to pick up the C)

”Well, what in Garl’s name do we have here?...” says Sprig. He begins carefully examining the contents of the cabinet, careful not to touch anything yet, to see if anything stands out in particular. He looks for clues as to the meanings of the inscriptions. He tries to peer into the containers to see if he can make out anything of their contents.

”Interesting? I’d say yes. Can’t make heads er tails of it, though. Potions? Spell components, maybe? These marks are in some strange language...” says Sprig in reply.

Grossphil the Feeble
After a pitiful attempt to even lift the item from the table, Grossphil sheepishly steps aside to allow the cleric to try instead. Upon hearing Sprig's remarks about the strange markings, Grossphil quickly moves over to join him.
"Strange markings you say? Well I happen to have a spell prepared that would help me identify what the markings are saying. Though before I use it, I could attempt to try reading it on my own in case I know the language already. Also, just out of curiosity, is there anything actually in these containers you speak of Sprig?"

Re: Home Sweet Home
Living Room
Arrival Evening
After her experiment, Zefarrel suggests avoiding combat with the silver watermelon. She moves over to help the slim elf with the items on the table. Picking up the rather heavy metallic C in one hand, she doesn't notice anything strange about it or find any markings on it whatsoever. She gets the impression that it might be a paperweight or some other such mundane item.
Sprig gets his big nose right up into the corner cabinet, taking a close look at the crystalline items. The inside of the box is extremely cold on the gnomes face, but he doesn't find anything more inside. The items all look like normal empty place settings, but he still cant read the inscriptions.
Grossphil hears of the markings and takes a closer look himself. The strange language is not familiar to the mage in the least. Elitir moves in for a closer look as Mac continues to search the room through his gemstone.
Actions?
Pumfrey 14/14
Elitir 22/22
Zefarrel 20/20 4/4 first 3/3 second
Grossphil 16/16 2/2 first 1/1 second
Mac 7/7 2/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 25/25

Mac
Mac stops looking around the room through the gem. "Nothing really striking here. The fire is illusion, of course, but everything else is as it appears. Odd as it may be."
He walks over to the table with the items and picks up the dagger. "Maybe we should open one of the doors?" He asks, looking at the more larceny-inclined of the group.

Zefarrel: How about the door down the hall? I don't the "giggling" is going to be good news.
Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan shifts from side to side to keep his feet from hurting with all of the standing.
"Yes, let's move on. I don't like the looks of that metal thing scooting around on the floor..."
He indicates he is ready to step into line (last in line, as it were) once the others are ready to go.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Sprig turns from the cool cabinet which has quickly lost his interest, seeming neither valuable nor informative, and eyes the fireplace. Why bother with an illusory fire that gives off no heat? Maybe interior design, maybe... secret door concealment. Knowing for certain it is an illusion, he approaches it, reaches through it and begins examining the wall behind it for any suspicious creases or hinges or catches.
He speaks over his shoulder as he works. "Whatever's giggling behind that door must know we're here by now. We ain't exactly subtle. At least it seems to be in a good mood. I'll be with you in one sec, just want to check something here..."

Living Room
Arrival Evening
A few members of the group express their desire to move on from this place, and none of them seem interested in any unseen giggling. Mac let's the party in on his visual findings before picking up the ornamental dagger from the table. He suggests trying the doors.
Once Grossphil appears at the cold cabinet, Sprig looses interest. He moves to the fireplace next, looking it all over carefully while crawling around in the harmless illusionary flames. Just like the others before him, he finds nothing secret or hidden whatsoever.
The wooden door down the hall seems to be attracting some interest.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Zefarrel walks down the hall to the south door. Sprig, would you mind taking a look at this door with your practiced eye?
Re: Home Sweet Home
"Allow me instead", says Pumfrey, with a wink and a skip. He heads to the door, looking carefully for traps and anything else of interest. Once at the door, he trains his ears on what might be on the other side...

”Doesn’t hurt to double-check, I guess,” says Sprig and also heads down to check for traps on the door, avoiding the walking metal egg on the way.

Mac
The long, unusual day is starting to wear on the old bones of Mac. The wet robes aren't helping either. He watches the younger members with a mix of awe and jealousy, then moves to a sofa to sit.
"I'll be right with you lads. Just need a moment to sit and get my bearings. Scream if you need something."
He pulls out his book and starts making notes of the situation.

Living Room
Arrival Evening
The elderly statesman Mac takes a quick rest while the others check out the wooden door down the hallway ending with the strange black portal.
The thieves are unable to spot any indication of traps or tampering of any kind on the door. There isn't a sound coming from beyond it.
The larger members of the group keep a close watch around the room as the shorty's ply their trade. The silver watermelon continues moving around the floor.
Sprig risks attempting to see if the door is locked. It isn't.
