I am not really sure what they are doing regarding securing the area. They may just have to walk around in circles until the next round of posts :)

Junius and Sacro reach the end of the passage leading out of the kitchen are find themselves facing the decision of turning right, and heading back the direction from which they just arrived from, or left, an unexplored area:

Once the group has decided on their next course of action, AdaRue empties a single flask of oil over the mass of putrescence and ignites it, breaking down a few of the chairs to help fuel the flames. The midwife recites a prayer to the Mother to purify the refuse with fire as she shuts the door behind her as she is the last to leave -- but quickly makes her way back to her spot in the normal marching order.

Junius and the rest of the group head left. This new, slightly winding passage continues for at least 100-feet and ends in another T-intersection:

Whether you look left or right, the passage terminates after roughly 40-feet with a familiar wooden door.

Door
As Junius makes for the door to his right, Rothal admits that he is not familiar with this area. He informs the group that, while he didn't make it too far into the lair before being captured, he must have taken a different turn than the group somewhere -- but he does mention a caved-in area, which the group remembers seeing during a previous trip.

Now at the sturdily constructed door, Junius presses his ear against the solid wood and hears nothing. Once the rest of the group settles into position behind him, the dwarf carefully inspects the handle and notices a lock.

While AdaRue mentally recites the arcane instructions for her 'Protection from Evil' spell in her head, a slight gingle of the handle confirms that the door is in fact locked.

Action: Horatio will check for traps and try to pick the lock if he finds no traps, but he will not open the door.

While everyone looks on, Horatio inspects the lock at the current door he's facing and finds observes that the metal plating has been stripped away, leaving deep gouges. While the locking mechanism itself is still intact, and functional, the overall quality of the lock is poor.

Horatio scoffs. "Well, if you're gonna cheat and use keys..." But he takes the keys and checks whether any of them fit the lock.

I couldn't tell from the previous update whether Horatio actually tried to pick the lock.
