You Don't See That Everyday
Round 3

Watching the elf get his head nearly bitten off, and then watching Jack stop and yell for Monocar to get the blank out of the way, prompts Alordan and Raythan to also stop before entering into melee with this fearsome green behemoth.

Skidding to a stop about 20 feet away from it, Alordan draws his bow and prepares to fire if Monocar heeds Jacks warning.

Raythan does not want to be the second one to lose his head over this fight, so he wisely stays back next to Alordan. He appears to be preparing some spell to sling at the huge monster.

Even after seeing one horrible death administered, Monocar is still persistent in his desire to kill this thing. He lunges in again, only half armored and using a weapon he has never trained with. He goes into an almost berserker type rage, getting in between the things legs and swinging upwards, slicing another wide gash into the beasts lower half. It howls out in pain, its bite attacked disrupted. It's claws still work well enough though, both of them striking the scantily clad warrior and causing minor wounds. 5 dam total The big man sees the blood pool in the sand at his feet growing, thinking he will surely suffer the same fate soon enough unless the creature is taken down, or he escapes its reach. The wounds on it so far are substantial, but not life threatening. The fighter is happy to see that so far the beast's wounds don't seem to be healing as quickly now that it is out of the water.

Monocar

Begins what can only be called a fighting retreat. He keeps the short sword held defensively while casting an envious look at the longsword of the fallen elf. He isn't willing to drop his guard on the beast in front of him as he begins backing up towards the others further down the beach. If he gets an oppertunity to break away safely, he will turn and sprint at full speed.

Jack, lost boy:

Once Monocar is clear, Jack fires two dead-eyed arrows into the thing from medium range.
"Take that, mothersucker! ...No wait. That's not right."

Jack: Arrows: to hit: [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22, [1d20+4] = 15+4 = 19, damage: [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 2

"Try and blind it Raythan," calls the half-orc along the beach, lumbering along as swiftly as he can.

The Great Escape
Round 4

Monocar feels bad about the slaughtered elf lying at his feet, but not badly enough to stop him from eyeballing his dropped sword. Seriously wanting to reach in and grab it, he decides against such foolishness and instead begins backing away from the dangerous sea monster using his small sword in a defensive manner. The beast tries to bite and claw at the retreating fighter, grazing him with one sharp webbed hand. 2 dam Being far more agile on the land, Monocar is able to back away quickly with little further harm done to him.

Jack and Alordan open fire on the beast, shooting 4 consecutive arrows its way. Both of Jacks shafts penetrate the things thick slimy skin. Raythan finishes his incantation, calling forth a sizzling dart of energy that shoots out from his fingertips and hits the giant creature right in its ugly face. This action seems to infuriate the creature as it roars out loudly towards the group again and finally stops its advance.

With stinking yellow ochre dripping out of 4 separate wounds, and now dealing with a nasty burn on its face, the beast feigns one last lunge towards the group before bending down to grab up his lunch. Not liking the fact that he is no longer able to easily reach any more victims, the beast secures the body of the elf in one clawed hand and begins heading back into the sea. It shows no interest in gathering up the long sword, or in Devrin’s small helm with the large bite mark out of one side. Both of those items still lay next to the bloody pool in the sand as the monster bumbles back towards the water.

Monocar

Seems to get a glimpse of something that really gets his attention. "AIM FOR HIS FOREHEAD!"

He holds his position no going further from the beast, but makes sure to stay outside its range of interest. If he can do this and make his way back to the longsword, he will pick it up and drop the short sword in the process. He otherwise acts as a readied guard between the beast and the archers.

Alordan gasps at the viscous wound that Devrin takes and it rattles his aim..

Short Bow Attack [1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13
Short Bow Damage [1d6] = 6

Short Bow Attack [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5
Short Bow Damage [1d6] = 2

Watching the scene unfold he shouts "If that thing returns to the sea his sacrifice was in vain!"

Jack, lost boy:

"Cockshitter!" Jack cries as he slides ten feet toward the shoreline and fires two more unerring arrows at the sea creature, aiming at its forehead.

Jack: Arrows: to hit: [1d20+4] = 20+4 = 24, [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22, damage: [1d6] = 1, [1d6] = 2

Luther

Still lumbering along at the best pace he can manage, Luther grins as he listens to Jack. Gotta teach that boy how to swear... he chuckles.

Use Fire! Burn The Bastard! he shouts as he continues.

The Great Escape
Round 5

The monster keeps right on ignoring the party as they continue to fire at it, far more concerned about its nice big meal to enjoy once he gets back to his underwater lair. Monocar easily grabs up Devrins discarded long sword and drops his own, keeping himself defensively in between the monster and the others.

Raythan seems distant lately and unsure what he should be doing. He looks confused about what Monocar said about the creatures forehead. "What? Why?" He sees that the big man is injured, but badly wants this damn creature to pay for what it did to Devrin. The half-elf pulls out his mace and throws it at the retreating monster. It splashes harmlessly into the shallow water before he walks out to retrieve it.

Alordan fires 2 arrows that don't really stick, but the eagle eyed Jack works his magic once again with his short bow. Luckily, the boys skill with the bow far exceeds his skill with "grown up" words. Both of his arrows strike right where he aims, thudding into the side of the monsters head. It actually staggers a little before finally looking sideways at the elf boy with serious disdain. With its free hand, it plucks the arrows back out and continues wading deeper and deeper into the sea.

Actions?

This thing is pretty content to flee while it yet lives. it will be completely submerged again at the end of round 6. However, Saracen and Luther are now close enough for a mid ranged short bow attack. With enough good hits against its incredible AC, hits that actually do some decent damage this time, you might just get lucky and not have to come back here. ;)

Alordan considers briefly jumping on the damn things back while it has half of it's weapons tied up carrying the corpse of his comrade. With the viscous bite the beast can deliver it would probably be suicide... With a frustrated sigh of futility, he fires his bow hoping for a lucky shot...

Short Bow Attack [1d20+3] = 3+3 = 6 [THACO=17]
Short Bow Attack [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5 (THACO=17)

OOC: for any previous hit, Alordan should have added +1 dmg as a troll is a 'giant' class. Maybe that could help since I can't shoot a bow!

Jack, lost boy:

Even Jack can see the thing will get away before they can kill it.

So the eternal child tries taunting it into attacking them, in his best mean-girl singsong: "Scaredy cat chickendick! Scaredy cat chickendick! You can't catch me! Nyeah, nyeah, na-nyeah, nyeah!"
Also, he moves ten more feet closer to the shore and looses two more arrows whose accuracy is affected by his jeering hip gyrations.

Jack: Arrows: to hit: [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8, [1d20+4] = 1+4 = 5, damage: [1d6] = 5, [1d6] = 4

Monocar

In a desperate attempt, he hurls the short sword at the beast.

Thrown Short Sword [1d20-2] = 15-2 = 13 DMG [1d8] = 4

Cursing again he eases forward his eye on the ground for other throwable objects like rocks ect.

Almost Gone
Round 6

8 more arrows and one shortsword fly towards the monster as it continues to walk out to sea with Devrin's body. None of them hit. The beast is nearly half way under the surface and will soon be completely out of sight.

Jack tries taunting, and puts on quite the convincing show, but the monster pays him no heed. Monocar sees nothing but sand at his feet.

Actions?

Monocar

The comfortable wright of a long sword in his hand once more, Monocar moves forward at a charge emboldened and hoping to draw it back out. He stabs as he rushes forward and will immediately begin drawing back as before, hoping to buy his companions time to get in a few more shots and hopefully a heal spell.

(Did not figure in charge in case the water cancelled it out.)

Jack, lost boy:

Jack looks at Luther. "Are you sure? Like... the poop of a hen? That doesn't make sense. Why would he be that? I'm pretty sure it's chickendick."

Then, seeing Monicar charge, Jack exclaims, "Big, hairy, dangling scrotum balls of a witch!"

Not wanting to accidentally hit Monocar with an arrow, Jack scampers down to within ten feet of the water! "Look how close I am! Can't get me!" he undulates with joy.
