Forgive me I stole the name for the pigeon from one of Salvator's books my personal favorite collection "The Cleric Quintet." Percival was the pet of Cadderly Bonaduce's squirrel.

Are they good as stand-alone fiction, or more of game companion tie-ins ?

I read em entirely as just stand-alone fiction. I have no idea if they really are game companion tie-ins.

That might explain, Wade Owen Watts in "Ready Player One", avatar name of Parzival, he just replaced the c with a z so it was not obvious.
