I forgot to add, I have not read "Rod of the 7 Parts" but I do know it involved a conflict between Law and Chaos, or more specifically the Lawful Extra-Planar Wind-Dukes of Vasha (or something) which are portrayed as annoying prudes and Mishka (I think) the Chaotic Wolf-Spider demon (or is it devil? I don't know which ones are Chaotic in AD&D). Mishka was banished to some extra-planar prison when he got clobbered with the Rod ages ago during a great conflict between Law & Chaos, that event was responsible for its sundering into the aforementioned seven parts.
"Tower of the Elephant" is one of my all-time favorites. It is always good to read about Conan correcting a cosmic injustice and setting Yag-Kosha free, no longer blind or wingless.
I do hope that while the Cimmerian might not be your cup of tea, reading those tales helped dispel the notion of him being simply a testosterone-laden teenager fantasy.

Something I'd like to suggest is that we make a list of what we need here in the Out of Character thread. Then the DM knows what we are looking for and that way can give us the cost totals and we can move the story along without needing to take the time In Character to do shopping. If the DM needs to impart any interesting notes or what have you it can be taken care of via PM; as I'm imagining that we will be splitting up to shop separately.
The main In Character tread moves on without us having to wait for anyone specifically.
So that being said Sjorvuld is sharing 20Gp with the group
He suggests we get a 5-10Gal barrel to keep water in, for the trip, and everyone get a week's worth of Iron rations apiece just in case something happens to the hunting along the way.
Any other suggestions?

The halfling barbarian puts his grand total of 12gp at the party's disposal.
Do we need to buy feed for the mule too?
Oh, and a sleeping bag, or at least a blanket would be nice too. Coenbeorht only has his weapons and armor.

I guess I'm the loaded one...Beya's got 36 gp counting the 10 she just recieved; she'll throw in 30 to the communal pot.
I'm guessing the Cart is going to be the big expense....I don't have a clue what that would cost.
As for her...perhaps a bedroll; but other than that, she's good to go.

AD&D 1e PHB says a cart is 50 GP. I'll put in as little as I can(gotta RP

) while making sure we get the cart. I've got most basic supplies: lantern, oil, wine, rations, rope, ect.

Beya has a lantern as well; and 3 Flasks of Oil for it (or whatever other purpose they might have to be utilized for!

) I also see that a few of the other PCs have some gear as well; such as rations and what not. I think if we pool our food; we can probably get at least 3 or 4 days for a party of 6 before having to worry about hunting/buying supplies if we have too.
Diamond Spear: I don't see any gear listed for your Cleric other than weapons....have you just not bought anything yet or are you just THAT confident?
DH: I had forgotten about the Hobby/Skills, so I just came up with 2 for Beya: Well-Read (I'm thinking mostly Traveller's accounts, Bard's Tales, that kind of thing) and Haggling/Barter (coming from a family of sea-going merchants). If this isn't cool; let me know.

Sjorvuld will use the remaining 13Gp that he has left over to see if he can find a Hireling Man-At-Arms/guide (or a cheap map) that can get the group from here to their destination.
Gold donated
12Gp Vargr1105
20Gp Jester
30Gp Max_Vale
1 Mule from Joba Tett
62Gp Total so far
Need to hear back from the rest.

I'm not sure I get it... with the 10 gp we've just received, we can each of us buy two weeks of "standard" rations (5 gp / week)
Sure they won't last as long as Iron Rations, but'll be eating them first...
I'm not against the idea of pooling resources, but it really seems completely out of characters from most of us. "Hey, hi, I never met you before, by the way let's give all our money to make a party-pot"
As far as we know, the thief (no offense meant) we'll just run away with it...
Im not saying we should never do that, I'mù just saying, let's know each other a bit better, earn each other's trust, and then we'll see.
So, let's just buy 2 weeks of food with the money they gave us already, and let's move on!

I might be missing something...but I thought we were all in prison together; some of us for longer than others; but still in the same place. Once we were all about to hang and then saved at the last minute due to the "law" realizing that they had the wrong people; that's gotta be a kind of "bonding" experience, I would think. Plus, we DID just all decide to take up the guard's offer of travelling to the arms master.
Though; I'm definitely cool with just getting our own stuff and figuring it out as we go as well...Beya is a bit of a naive idealist; looking to go on adventures....she figures that most of the tales she's read are all about groups of heroes; facing great dangers together...and this could be the begining of one of those tales; to her...

Start of adventure is up.
Do you want me or someone else to set up a campaign journal on Dragonsfoot?
