Date: Euryale 12, 10:50 pm (Turn 10)
Season: Mid Fall
Moon phase: First Quarter
Light Sources: Randolpho (Lantern, 2 hrs, 30 minutes remaining), Galen (Lantern, 2 hrs, 30 minutes remaining)
Time since rest: 0 minutes (0 turns)
Location: Abandoned Guard Room

You find the abandoned guard room north of the statue room to be empty, and you are able to secure everyone within. Time passes slowly in the secured room, but eventually everyone recovers from the poison. Torgyr, who was stung several times by the thing, is the last to awaken.

Sorry, I think I got confused about which room you wanted. I was thinking the "orc room" (room 2) but you did clearly say room 3 (the guard room).

After everyone recovers, Quinn would like to investigate this carrion caterpillar creature. Can he identify it? Maybe Galen or Solaine as healers could come to. I would like to particularly (and carefully!) look at the stinger tentacles. Can the poison be harvested at all or the venom be spread over his sword blade or javelin points?

If Brother Galen sees Quinn getting too close to the creature and its tentacles, he'll rather forcefully say, "Get away from that crawler of carrion, you fool! Unless you want us leaving your paralysed body for something else to find? Deriving poisons from such a beast is not a trivial matter for the ignorant, boy!"

"Now..." he says, turning back to others, "If you've all quite finished your little rest, shall we head to the 'oracle' next?"

The process of extracting the poison from a slain creature takes a day, and the Animal Husbandry skill. Emm, who was raised taking care of animals, has this skill, but this may not be your top priority right now.

How long can we wait before the corpse is too old to collect the venom?

Broadly speaking, the usability of the components deteriorates like the mortal wounds table. Quicker things you might choose to harvest are the tentacles/stingers and the feelers. Those could be cut off reasonably quickly, but wouldn't be as valuable/special as the poison. You could totally come back for it on the way out, though, if you wanted.

"I still think we should let me try the door first, then we can move on beyond the door without using our single question today. What other questions do we have?" Randolpho hands Ranulf's arbalest back.

Torgyr shakes the cobwebs from his skull and looks around.

"Some fun. Yeah, take it away Randolpho. If you can't get in there well ask the Oracle about it. Good plan."

He looks to Quinn. "Thanks for dragging me outta there."

The group makes its way over to the vault door, passing through the round room where they had found the masks without incident.

Randolpho sets to work trying to pick the lock on the door again. He fails to open it.

What's next?

Solaine says, "It was worth a shot. Let's head to the Oracle."

Sorry for the absence, had some impromptu travel/family time

"Wonder if we slice open that crawler if we'll find these two inside," muses Ranulf a bit morbidly.

Quinn oils the jaws of the squeaky rusty Oracle. Well, ask away."

"So the question we ask is 'How do we open the metal door..... How does the Oracle know what door we mean? "

"Which of us is it that speaks this language? Let's be sure we as the question we want the answer to, for fear of wasting it. We've only seen the one metal door so far, but we could qualify the question by referring it to the iron door to the east of here."

"And north of that temple with the alter and the secret room." adds Ranulf, "Though I can't remember what deity it was supposed to be for."

Quinn

The Oracle answered before by saying of his knowledge of this level of the Dwimmermount. So I think he should be aware of all the doors in question. Can the face see as well as speak? You could show him the map and point the room out."
