Regular lamp oil.

"Nyah, we won't burn it all. Plenty still in the pit, in't there? We just need to clear the passage after it. You can't push it out of the way; I already tried. And, in case you didn't note, it's different levels in different places, always changin'. Like it moves on its own. If we don't burn the lot of it off the floor, it's likely to just spread back out after the fire is gone. There isn't any way to just make a path through it. So we gotta clear it all off the floor," Ciar replies.

"I think we should take a trip there this afternoon, with all the climbing gear and such, and deposit it in the ground level room. Then go down and burn out that slime on the floor and call it a night. Hopefully by tomorrow morning, whatever smoke we made will be mostly cleared and we can tackle the creature of metal. I don't think we need the Greek fire, though, as long as we can get the lamp oil lit."

Fulp asks,
Uh, how about dousing some of that old wood from the tables and beds or such with a couple pints of oil, and building a nice bonfire to really get it hot and gone?

Kassel clears his throat. "From the experiments I have made so far on the sample we have taken, I comclude it will burn. It recoils from open flame however so making a wooden frame around the slime above the pit before setting it alight, we can i believe burn it completely."

Ingroc the Impavid

"Is no one willing to help me purchase Greek fire!" If the answer is no, Ingroc will spend the ten gold coins needed to purchase one flask of the stuff, and stow it carefully in his pack.

Sylvan nods in agreement. "These all sound like good plans. I'll use a flask of oil to light my lamp, then use the empty vial to collect some slime before we burn it away. Perhaps it has some useful properties."

Fulp will buy a flask as well.

Sparrow

All right then, I tend to agree with Ciar about clearing it off the floor in order to make a safer passage. If it can be burned away, lets do it. I will bring these 6 flasks of oil and that should be plenty. We can bring the rest of this gear with us and set it up or store it inside before we set the stuff alight.

"It will move away from the flames if we don't contain it first. The pit keeps the stuff in there so it stands to reason it can't climb too well!" reiterates the gnome.

Ingroc the Impavid

"If it is coated with oil I do not believe it will be able to move away from it."

Ingroc the Impavid

Once the party has been properly prepared and provendered Ingroc is ready to proceed promptly. Unsure of his new companions' abilities and specialties, he volunteers to take point and lead the way to the ruined tower.

Once back to the inn Kassel will excuse himself if it is still day daytime and suggest he rejoins the others for dinner.

Ciar enjoys a quick meal with anyone else eating and retires for the evening, still feeling some slight effects from that falling floor the previous day.

Sylvan meets whoever is interested for dinner. "What a relief to be out of that reeking pit. Let's set a plan tonight so those of us that must memorize spells prepare those best suited for the task. I propose we explore the secret room with the ghost first. It may yield a clue to the password that avoids the pit trap, or may offer clues on combatting the metal humanoid."

"Yeah, I've been thinking about that ever since we left the place. Seems weird there'd be a secret door in a cell, doesn't it? I guess they can't easily search it if they're kept in the dark, though... in any case, hell of a way to die, starving in the pitch black of a cell... Oh, that reminds me."

He excuses himself from the table and tracks down Talia, or whoever is working at the inn that night, and approaches them...

Ciar returns and says, "Talia didn't have much information to provide, except that Baron Sarvo was a lord and one of the last people to rule the area before Tula Belhaim, a dragon slayer, saved the region. That is who the town -- Belhaim -- is named after. I'm going to go see if Bassey might have any other information, but Talia said Baron Sarvo's reign was before even Bassey's time..."

If anyone wants to join him, Ciar waits while they finish eating. If nobody else is interested in joining him, then he heads out on his own to Bassey's home.

"Good thinking, Ciar" replies Sylvan, clearly impressed. "I'd like to meet this Hussey woman you all met earlier today. I'll tag along."

Sparrow also eats, drinks and coughs a little.

I wouldn't mind tagging along as well if you don't mind. I've got a bit of throat scum from that poison and I want to move around a bit more in hopes it loosens up a bit.

The jungle warrior then gobs some flemmy mucus into the nearest spittoon. (or outside, in an out of the way place)
