Ingrid Esthof - Human Cleric

Waking up with the realization she is now completely alone, Ingrid looks to get her bearings. Not really the outdoorsy type by nature, the cleric tries to remember what others in her party did to determine directions. She gathers her light stone and cautiously sets out in the direction she thinks she was traveling with the wolves.

The Graveyard on the Old Road to Castle Ravenloft, Greyhawk







Rested, Ingrid Esthof continues on her journey, following the Old Road higher and higher into the mysterious mountains.

She no longer feels the cold.

An hour beyond the ancient graveyard, she discovers the fresh, ruined carcasses of three things that might once have been human. Little remains beyond their bones. Strangely, there is no blood to be found.

She continues on for long hours.

Thunder rumbles above the forest roof, and lightning flashes.

Then, in a clearing on the road, she can see her final destination looming in the distance.

Castle Ravenloft.

Ingrid continues on to the castle, knowing every step brings her that much closer to seeing him again.

The Old Road to Castle Ravenloft, Greyhawk







Ingrid continues her journey on the Old Road, through the forest-shrouded mountains... to Him.

Hours later, she reaches her fearsome object, Castle Ravenloft.



Darkness gathers with the ravens. The rain has ceased but the thunder and lightning do not relent.

Ingrid stands naked before an immense and ancient walled castle, raised a millennia ago in the age of Vecna. Its gigantic drawbridge is down, beckoning her to enter freely and of her own volition.

Finally here, she makes her way across the drawbridge, eyes open for Him...or her companions.

Day Two? Dusk. Sunday, January 15th, 577 CY?







As the light fades, Ingrid Esthof enters where angels fear to tread.

Castle Ravenloft.

Beneath a roar of thunder, she crosses a vast wooden drawbridge across a seemingly bottomless chasm.

Then Ingrid passes through the enormous jaws of the gatehouse, beneath the savage fangs of the open portcullis.



Beyond lies the bailey, an immense stone courtyard, devoid of life, where towering walls loom all around her.

The great doors of the ageless keep stand before her, inviting her to enter.

Raising her light stone high, Ingrid looks around, unsure where to go or what to do. Hello? I'm here, she calls out to whomever as she crosses the bailey.

Day Two? Dusk. Sunday, January 15th, 577 CY?







Towering walls, ramparts and spires nearly eclipse the storm-wracked sky above as Ingrid stands alone in the stone courtyard of Castle Ravenloft.

Her quavering voice calls out, and it is answered.

The great door to the keep slowly creaks open and a wretched figure emerges.



A pale young woman in dirty rags is pleased to see Ingrid. She proclaims, "Master, she has come! She is here!"

Then, to Ingrid, "Mistress, I am to be your handmaiden. I shall make help make you presentable. And then I shall bring you to Him.
"Follow me, please."

Uh...ok? Hesitating for a moment, the young cleric does eventually follow her new...handmaiden? As she walks, she keeps her eyes and ears open, studying her new surroundings. Every detail could be important in the future.

Castle Ravenloft, Greyhawk
Day Two? Dusk. Sunday, January 15th, 577 CY?







The heinous handmaiden admires the marks on Ingrid's neck. Then she leads Ingrid inside Castle Ravenloft.

"Master! Elena shall take care of her!" she proclaims. "Your favorite slave will make you proud!"

Ingrid crosses the threshold willingly. Within is a vast candlelit labyrinth of abandoned, forlorn majesty.




After a long and winding path, Ingrid is shown to her room.




Food and wine await on a silver tray. A hot bath is drawn. Ingrid's possessions are put away for safe keeping, and an antique, opulent gown is laid out.

As her handmaiden dresses her, Elena suddenly notices Ingrid's palm, and the holy symbol tattooed there.

"What is this?!" she asks in an accusing tone.
