Hopefully that means nothing more coming our way? I still would feel a bit more comfortable if we got away from this hunting traffic and moved down river a bit more. Set up camp an hour more down there instead.
Ogirdor nods in agreement

Thurinor jumps to his feet. "Don't let me slow us down. Let's go then!" Thurinor will help look out for campsites as they travel further down the river, pointing out likely sites to Stonjuz and Swilbosh for their approval.

Day 5 - Late Morning - The Forest/Along the River
Leaving behind the scene of battle, the party continues to walk alongside the river for about an hour before stopping to make camp. No other encounters or dangers present themselves in the trek. Noon is approaching and teh first pangs of appetite are beginning to make themselves felt.

Swilbosh sets his pack down and stows his shield and battle axe. He grabs his trident then goes for a fish and dip in the river.

Malone will assist in any fishing/hunting excercises warranted.

Thurinor scrounges for firewood and builds a modest fire under the eaves of the forest. "I would not send up smoke signals to hobs, cobs, or anything lurking by the river..."

I would avoid any fire at all. Might draw attention even if you are careful about the smoke.

Osborn plops down at the camp site and lies very still, his head resting on his pack. He feels slightly woozy from loss of blood in his last, totally ineffectual fight. "I wonder if I'm cut out for this." he thinks as he dozes off for a quick nap...

Stonjuz lets the turtle roam nearby, but under watchful eye. "Dont worry Osborn. We'll have you back to your ol' self in no time. Good job everyone." Stonjuz begins his rest and meditation for spell preperation. (same spells)

Day 5 - Late Morning - The Forest/Along the River
Musical Theme: Song of the Woods
As the adventurers busy themselves with their various activities, be it set camp, dozing, fishing or spell preparing, they all hear a strange sound waft from the woods, brought by the breeze: female singing. There is woman singing somewhere in the woods! And by the sound of it the singer has quite the nice voice.

"Excellent. A lullaby. With the lovely song coming from that direction, we can make quick time of this rest stop. Who's on first watch?"

Thurinor stops building his fire and weighs the pros and cons, clearly disappointed. But when the singing starts, he drops his kindling and moves to gather his gear, snatching up his crossbow. "In this wood, that is not a welcome sound..." If he listens closely (but not too closely), can he tell what language the song is in or understand any of it?

Day 5 - Late Morning - The Forest/Along the River
The song is not in any recognizable language because it doesn't have words. It is just a sequence of "la-ra-la-la's". The singer is making music with her voice rather than singing lyrics.

Stonjuz picks up the wood that Thurinor drops. "No sense rushing in there. If the singing stops or gets louder perhaps, but we should rest before going any further. What if it's a trap? Surely the whole of the mountian knows we are here now."

As the group starts to set camp Ogirdor casts his two remaining spells for the day:
Cure Light Wounds on Ozborn
[1d8] = 4
and on himself
[1d8] = 6
The singing clearly upsets the ranger
Swilbosh, have you ever heard any singing like this?

I don't think we should change our standard watch order Stonjuz. I'll go after Malone and so on.

"Oh it's probably just a wood nymph siren calling us to our end of course."
Stonjuz chuckles sarcastically, but then stops abrupt, realizing that the voice may be exactly that. Nervously, he adds,
"No. Not THAT kind of nymph Oz. Now, let's get some shut eye before we go find out."

He makes a strange clicking noise in his throat
"Ah of courssse - a female you mean? I have never seen a human female. Would that be her...hrummph...mating call?"
He seems to them mumble to himself and then shake his head.

"You may be more right than you know, Stonjuz. I fear to encounter the maker of such a song in such a place as this, and yet it intrigues me greatly. It will be hard to rest with such musics on the air..." The fire forgotten, Thurinor hunkers down behind a tree and looks out the direction from which the song is coming, gauging if it might be drawing closer and hoping that it will soon fade from sound and memory.
If it stops, he will eat cold rations or fish, if any are caught, and pulls out his wineskin to have a nip from friendlier forests and to share. He will check his gear, patching holes in his armor and clothing as best he can, cleaning and sharpening his sword, and will retire early in a bed of gathered leaves, intending to rise and study spells well before dawn, under the last starlight, with a candle for reading by.
OOC: I had thought we were spending the rest of the day and the night here, no? It's not like our bosses are watching to make sure we keep our noses to the grindstone. Take a load off and have yourselves a bit of strong drink, courtesy of the elves...
