Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Robin nods. "We definitely need more hands to explore especially in the Gash."
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
"...probably less is more for the gnome hall. Coims just lying out here and such."
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Robin shrugged. "Let us hope that the gnome dwellings are not now the home of monsters."
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Tinu closes her last sack with a length of rawhide and hefts it up. "We'd best get back to town."

Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
The party circles the herds of grazers keeping an eye out for any predators that might be trailing them. Tinu spies movement in the grass over to the left as the party walks up the side of the valley, but it is moving away from you.
The group safely makes it to the path at the top of the valley. It is cooler under the shade of the overhanding branches of the forest, which is good, for the bags are heavy. It is work, they do, getting back to Jesselton loaded down as they are. More than one of the party thinks about beasts of burden to themselves as they walk along.
The small village is busy in the afternoon sunlight. Halflings of all ages move about doing both work and play, with a few of the elders sitting watching from chairs outside their homes. Those new to the village note that there quite a few more homes in the area than you first thought, with many of them no more than doors and windows in the sides of mounds and hillocks.
Specifically, where are you going with your bags of herbs and such?

"I think we should keep enough material for me to make three healing potions and sell the rest," Tinu proposes. "The apothecary will pay us ten gold for each of these bags, but I don't know what the potions sell for here."
Joe Roberts (JR)
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Robin nods. "That sounds like a good idea. We need the healing ability. How many potions can you get from bag?"
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
"Generally, one per bag. The potions are expensive mostly because of this."
Joe Roberts (JR)
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Ferd quickly tallies the value of the bags compared to the value of the coins found just laying about outside the Gnomish treasure hold. "Yes, yes... that is a good plan for the herbs," he concurs with Tinu. "Morvith, what do we need to be able to go into that Gnomish repository, before others can beat us to it? That should be our first priority for profit."
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
"Do you know others that can join us? We should regroup and return to the doorway as soon as we can. How many bags of herbs do we have?" Robin looks excited.

6/23 - 6/24
OOC: If I'm not mistaken you have 7 bags of herbs, was it more?
Next, I want to know how you divide them between selling them to Mazie and keeping them for Tinu to use in Potion making. Tinu can stow any bags you keep on Mazie's cart with all that she is taking back to Slatholm. Brewing won't happen until Tinu has a few days to devote to it.
Finally, unless you have other things to do, we'll say you passed another night in Jesselton uneventfully. Now on the morning of 6/24 you are prepared to return to The Delivery thread for the return trip to Slateholm.

Do we get to roll Carousing again and get XP?
Clarifying: Tinu can make potions on the fly as a class ability. This is allowing the creation of more lasting potions that can persist, based on not sellign the herbs (i.e. the potions cost that much coin as an opportunity cost?)

Tinu has three bags, as well.

I believe Morvith did as well.

And call me a push over, but, okay, you left rations and other gear back in Jesselton to open up more gear slots, and have 12 bags of herbs. This didn't bite you...this time...but I'm going to take the gear slots seriously, so remember you can't carry more than your MAX, and if you add something you'll have to drop something. Or increase your Gear slots, for example hire NPCs as a porters or buy/rent a wheelbarrow/cart/donkey/etc.
Fully loaded, huffing and puffing the party makes it back to Jesselton with 12 big bags of herbs, grasses, leaves, and the like. Mazie is delighted and offers to buy them for 10 gold each.

Robin speaks up. "I would agree with that."
Re: Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
This was a unique out and back type of low threat excursion so dropping a lot of gear to maximize our yield of herbs makes sense. A porter would make sense on a longer adventure.Eris wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 9:50 pm
