I was kidding about 5e... unless you are curious. You're definitely welcome to explore it (the basic rules are available for free online or download. (I also have a subscription which allows me to freely and legally share other content, which I do with the players in my games.)

I think I'm the only person running 5e currently, so you can find links to those games in my signature. I can't exactly say that they're good, but they are examples. ;)

Welcome back, Ruke!
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome back. 8-)

I'm still trying to get a feel for what kind of game I want to jump into right now. This time around I will be a little more cautious about my commitments, not piling my plate up too much and all that. I stretched myself too far last time, made promises that were hard to keep, and I regret that. I really do. I don't want to fall back to those days of stress again. 5e does look interesting, at a glance, but it also looks like a chore and half when learning a new system, not that I'm opposed to learning something new. I'm a quick learner, sure, but I also don't want to slow any games down when I do join something of that level. I am very much on the fence right now, but at least I'm back on the fence.

I do have questions about 5e, but I understand too that this is not the thread to have said conversations. I will post in an appropriate area of the forum and go from there.

Welcome back. It's a shame you won't be running your old games. Some of my favorite characters and moments have been in your games. But I understand being too busy to run a game.

You all think it's a good idea to post my return as well inside Ruke's return so that I can be all subtle and stuff?

I thought it was anyway. Hello all new and old that may or may not remember me... I remember you... I remember.

GreyWolf, I know you lurk in everything... Whats up lol.

Wisdom and Age don't always go hand in hand. But still at any rate glad to see you back on here. :)

According to the DMG they most certainly do! :D

But yes it’s very good to have you back MW!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!

Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

First Rukellian, then MonkeyWrench. Can a return to the world of the Fabricator of Planes be far behind? ;)

(Probably, alas. But one can hope.)

I am going to be honest when I say that I wouldn't be able to do it any justice right now. The first game was a good first attempt at DMing, the second? A flop in my book. I'm not one to casually go back on my word either. When I said that I hung up the DM mantle, the feelings behind that were genuine. I want to be able to have fun being a player for a game or two before I even think of starting to get back into Dungeon Mastering on this site.

I thank you though, Zhym, for your regular shows of support. Apparently you saw something good in my past works, and it stuck. I just hope that I will have all my ducks lined up and a healthy dose of confidence to show for it when I do make my DM debut once again.

You had some trouble with game mechanics and getting people to update regularly, but you’re a great storyteller. I’ll take a DM who can tell good stories over one who has the DMG memorized any day.

But I was mostly kidding; I know you aren’t up for DMing right now. But your games were fun, so please don’t get down on yourself about that.

I had a fun time Ruke playing a villain with MW when we were in the 4C game system.

My own perspective had it as mostly a timing thing. Life get's in the way at the best of times and I'm sure that contributed heavily to the posting issue back then.

Other than that though I had a ton of fun during your campaigns Ruke, I'm pretty sure I was in the Ruke boat from the start and had a hand in all of your games. The story and amount of integration between back stories and the plot was amazing. Nothing was ever "cookie cutter" where the origins and character personalities were forced to fit into an already written and structured block of plot, there was true evolution there and it felt like the characters mattered and their choices changed the outcomes.

I'm not puffing you up when I say that your style of DMing is what I love most about table-top gaming, there is little to no creative waste. I'm right there with you on taking a break from DMing but if you never lose that feature of your style then whenever you do decide to get back in, whatever the game is, it will be a massive success... in my books at least

Hello, good folks of the Unseen Servant. I've been on a hiatus when it comes to this site and I will be testing the waters again to see what sort of games are out there right now. I look forward to hanging out with the old crew again, or maybe even some new faces, but strictly as a player right now. If anyone has a good game recommendation to shoot my way, you can reach me best by private message. My plate for games has shrunk considerably though, so I am only limiting myself to one game for now, as a player.

For those who may not know much about me:
- I am versed in the classic editions of dungeons and dragons (1eAD&D, 2e, 5e, OSRIC)
- I have a lot of experience with the GURPS system, it being my primary go-to system when hosting face to face games with others
- I have limited experience with other systems too (4C, MonsterHearts, BRP, and FATE) and am willing to pick up new ones if it isn't too intricate or involved
- I've been called a great storyteller and an excellent RPer, so quality writing will be almost guaranteed from my end.
