In sudden recognition Vibeke hugs Frank and exclaims "Frank Kjóss! Det er dig. Byen er fuld af lejesoldater, der stiller spørgsmål, og alt dette afskum arbejder for SuSAG. Jeg kan ikke tro, du har myrdet mange mennesker. Fortæl mig, at det ikke er sandt!"

Anni gives him another welcoming hug "Velkommen hjem, Frank". She then quickly breaks the embrace and shoves the box of pastries into his hands and backs away as the shop door opens and the militiaman from across the road walks in. He nods respectfully at the owners and nervously stumbles "Anni du ser godt ud. Vibeke jeg ringer til dig, ja?" Turning to Frank he switches into what must be his first language and says "Sir, you look like someone I should somehow know and I'm on the alert for strangers in town. That's with me bein' on duty an' all". Despite being in full mesh/reflec armour he taps the badge on his chest by way of reference or reassurance and then continues "Now, this is a peaceful town and so I don't usually go about challenging folk - but there's foreign mercenaries all over the place and rumours that The Militia have mobilised. So, if you'd just ever so gently show me your forearms please, sir". He turns his left shoulder towards Frank and drops his right hand to the butt of his sidearm.

As an initial assessment Frank rates the Tarsan militiaman as nervous and rather tactically inexperienced. Given the circumstances this might not be a good thing!

React away as you wish but please also sling in a Recon roll for Frank.

Klaus reacts to the triple click on his comm focusing in on Venner (with his squad leader's Image Enhancement/Thermal Imaging vision aids) he sees the Marine static and pressed against the external wall of the main farm dwelling on the corner of the main house adjacent to a "deck/veranda" with floor to ceiling glass doors. Venner drops his raised fist (Freeze) then pumps a fist right (Ambush Right) as his buddy moves to cover one exit to the farm's internal yard over the low wall containing the central space. He then raises his thumb and pointing his index finger inverts his wrist pointing into the main living room (Enemy in Sight), then redundantly extending a fist with no fingers extended (Range Zero). In non standard code he then extends two fingers in a V and points to his own eyes then indicating "Two" with extended fingers. He then shows his palm above shoulder height towards Klaus (I am Ready).

Please make a Tactics Roll (+ Skill + 1 Int) modified with either Gun Cbt (Slug Rifle) or (SMG Zero G Wpns), +1 for veteran Military Knowledge.

Frank

"Officer, I am very slowly going to put this box on the counter. " assuming no negative reaction he will slowly place the box on the counter and then hold his arms out in front of him. "I'm just here for pastries. I have a pistol concealed under my left arm."

Those gremlins. Now Frank is closer, is this guy familiar?

I'm not sure what the "show me your forearms" is about, unless it's positioning him for handcuffs. If he closed close enough to try to cuff him, Frank would be looking to disarm him and avoid that outcome.

Once that is complete please check and secure check your new ride that perhaps just needs new tires." :D

The goal at the time was to stop the vehicle, but now we will need to see if we can get it moving if not for sure we will take the keys and lock it up.
The surrendering driver volunteers "I'll get it movin' for you for sure! If'n you'll put in a word with Mister Kruger I'd like to drive for him. I hear he's a fair man and pays a fair wage".

With the trespassers long gone the team police up the discarded weapons and bodies loading them into the earth mover's front bucket for transport back to the farm. Surprisingly there are only two. The man shot by Killer and his victim. The surprise" is explained when Able orders "Right now reload wiv buckshot. Next time we might 'ave no room for "diplomatic" shootin' ". Those with shotguns eject what Kit seems to recognize as lighter and less lethal birdshot.

Killer interjects with "Oh, borrocks! Guv'nor, you're gonna want to 'ave a butchers at this!"

The body he has now rolled onto its back wears a plain paramilitary uniform and a utility gun belt under its duster. The most distinctive item thereon is a bronze star bearing the legend "Deputy".

Kit will allow the surrendering driver a chance to repair the tires, but will keep the keys to make sure it is not just driven away and Kit will assign a guard to watch his actions.

With the deputy, Kit will remove the badge and slip it into his breast pocket. The two dead bodies will be respectfully treated and wrapped in a tarp on the other side of the broken fence. (OOC: Well... he might have been on a roll of 8+ ;) :P NB Game mechanics would call for a much lower threshold ~3+ success for close family/friends. Mind you it's a sound strategy to clear out all the low rolls out before it kicks off! ;) ).

To Frank's chagrin, whilst being apparently unfazed by his ownership of a self-defense weapon, the militiaman asks that he rolls his sleeves up. Having observed Frank's forearms to his satisfaction he seems greatly relieved and relaxes no end "Thank you for your cooperation. Well, I'd best be back to it. Here, friend, since you have your box let me get the door. Goodnight, ladies!" He helpfully holds the door for Frank and ushers him out onto the street.

Secured under the guns of the mercs the farm hands set to fixing the fence isolating the fallen on the far side. Likewise the driver/defector keenly sets to patching the tyre damage on the "digger" confidently stating that once he's done he can offer further help by pile driving fence supports using his machine's back hoe.

Soon enough the repairs to fence and digger are complete to Kit's satisfaction.

Prerna finds one local lead in a not recent but still "open" offer for sale of a privately owned air/raft.

She returns from the rest room to navigate her way through and around the wooden support beams of the ancient inn to meet T'lia in the snug bar adjacent to the restaurant. The whole place is doing an (apparently most welcome) roaring trade and drinks and a wait is the only option if you want a meal.

Prerna notes that the bar follows laws of design and illumination no doubt consistent with its age. Small booths or alcoves surround the busy yet dimly lit central bar. Searching for T'lia she doesn't see her at the bar but instead backed against the table of an unlit booth by a long haired local wearing furs. As the pair stand relative to Prerna she can see T'lia in half profile but her face obscures that of the taller male whose bulk dominates hers as he leans into her as she leans back. Prerna's initial impression through the crowd is that leant/bent back over the table T'lia looks "uncomfortable".

"Thank you officer"

As the man turns to open the door, Frank turns towards the two women "Thank you, ladies" he says before mouthing "See you round back"

He then proceeds to pick up the box and head outside and once back on the street he stops to look in the window of the tech shop and as casually as he can attempts a 'recon scan' of the area.

Jess' grav IFV covers the ground in no time to approach the rear of the high ground on which Trooper King's OP2 is situated. The grav fighting vehicle then slows to limit any visible signature from nap of earth flight and remains at the hover in the dead ground behind OP2 ready to perform a "pop up" attack.

Advised of the IFV's new position King reports "Ma'am, seems they know somefin's up - fek knows 'ow! They've stopped an taken the cli... 'orses... to the rear an' gone to fightin' order. They're advancin' on us in line - skirmish order. Six 'undred yards. Keen enough - even the wounded bloke's joined in! Couple of grenade launchers visible now an' they're carryin' LAW. Fek they're usin' the grahnd well. Good noise discipline. I'm losing some of 'em movin' through the brush - fek they're good. Ma'am we needs to light 'em up or move or this is gonna get messy".

Can you disengage unseen? Bearin’ in mind you’re on their patch. I’ll pick you up on the reverse slope. If you can’t get out, pin ‘em, and I’ll get around behind. Do they all have LAW? How many with the horses?

Jess studies the map, looking for a concealed route to the enemies rear. A quick raid to “rescue” the prisoners and run off the horses would be useful. If the commando were to be drawn over the ridge after the OP group that might work…

Kingy, if you think you're safe, give ‘em a sight of you as you dodge over the crest.

(OOC: No, Freya can place static sensors on the environs and approaches to the farm but the area of land extending to its borders is so vast as to require mobile platforms for coverage).

Florence looks up from her drones' screens and focusses on a local comm signal.

"Ma'am, I'm getting this in clear from the direction of QSM's operating area". She patches in the other radio channel "Force occupying the kopje at Kruger's Look. Idfentify, over".

Freddie chips in with "Ma'am, comm call into HQ from Mr. Kruger at the farm. He states inbound friendlies are approaching an unknown OP over the northern trail and have contacted him to confirm if these are his men. He verifies voice ID and states the friendlies are Scouts led by Sergeant Piet Isselbacher".

Freya passes this information on to the command centre. Best let Mr Kruger know that they are friendlies. Blowing up our allies won't make us popular.

Freya continues laying static sensors - wide-angle observation in binocular pairs for range-finding where visibility allows, singles and motion sensors where it's more restricted. Ideally, the motion sensors will be covered by the visual ones so any that are discovered can be observed as they are disabled! She'll also set up some sound/vibration sensors for artillery location and some anti-sniper sound locators about the farm itself so they can be used to triangulate if needed. She'll also start locating transmitters (and alternates) up to 10km away (and further back) from the actual HQ location so that if anyone goes for those they only get the aerials not the HQ itself. These she'll set in a wide triangle with a small area of cover at the geometric centre - just in case someone assumes she'd daft enough to space them equally about the actual HQ and targets the cover area.

One of the things Klaus determines from his military appreciation of the developing situation is that the penetrating DS rounds from the unit's ACR's are great for house clearing (i.e. shooting through internal walls/cover) but may be less good for hostage rescue...

While the HEAP rounds you have are definitively non "non-lethal" (some more than others: HEAP(S)) they will make a horrid mess of whatever they hit and will not overpenetrate.

(OOC: More IC action to follow (~midweek?) but wanted to get this into the IC thread/collective mind soonest).
