For what it’s worth, I thought it was going well.

I am starting to think I might be cursed though, as this makes about ten games in a row that this has happened to me. I hope this wasn’t really all my fault.

Perhaps someone else will give Shadowdark a run in the future. I liked what I saw so far. :D

I don’t have time for a lengthy response — I’m replying to this from our table at Chef Mickey’s in Disney World — but I will be taking this over.

We’re set to return home tomorrow night, and it will take me a day or two to kind of catch up, but I will be prepared to kick off at least a short one shot by next week.

If anyone has any preferences on what they’d like their characters to do — I was thinking a one page dungeon — but I can happily make adjustments to tailor the game to what’s already been promised, or whatever you guys would like.

I’ll catch up on everything as time permits.

If you want to just pick up there, it seems simple enough to step in. (Though if you want to do a custom Dungeon we won't complain either!)

That’s good parenting skills.

I’m with Marullus. Seems easiest, unless you had something else in mind.

I’m curious about the interest. I hope you don’t feel obligated in any way from my ramblings.

My constant pecking at my phone did elicit an “is everything okay?” query from the (much) better half.

I didn’t even see (and likely wouldn’t have seen) your response if Marullus hadn’t previously reached out via PM and asked if I might be persuaded to consider running the game.

Which didn’t take much persuasion.

I’ll admit, I haven’t read the final rules, but I’m familiar enough with the basics that it shouldn’t be a problem. Maybe I’ll give them a quick read on our flight home later this afternoon?

It should be fun!

I appreciate your interest, Dave! I think we're all just excited to give this a good try.

Ben, I really appreciate your willingness to step up and get this moving. Totally understand the RL coming first (doing some of that myself, too). Perhaps you could make a PC and join as a player?

Just hoping in quickly to let everyone know that the backend admin stuff has been updated for this game.

Ben, I did demote you from your Group Leader permissions, but did leave you as a Group Member in hopes that you'll stick around as a player. If not, I totally understand.

For the rest of the group, I will dedicate some time over the next day or two to catch up on what's currently in place -- in terms of rules and whatnot. I see there's an '(IC 1) The End of the Beginning' topic which I haven't looked at yet, so I'll give it a read as well, just to see what's already happened.

More soon.

Oh my gosh cool!
Surprise 1: Official, Free Character Builder
Shadowdark RPG has brought the beloved shadowdarklings.net online character builder in-house! It's now an official Arcane Library website with full licensing support.

What does this mean?

Full support for building characters online with all Cursed Scroll classes, all completely for free!

The funds from our Kickstarter made it possible to pay Mike (@SWooNe on our Discord server), the site's wonderful developer, for all his hard work since day 1. This has been a "secret stretch goal" that took shape over time, and I'm so excited to finally announce it!

Thanks to you, backers, we will now have a free and robust online character creator that will incorporate all official Shadowdark RPG material!

Today we're rolling out Cursed Scroll 1, which includes the Witch, Warlock, and Knight of St. Ydris classes. All spells and character options from Cursed Scroll 1 are available!

I saw that too, very cool.

You can export as PDF (even form-fillable), and if you create an account with then you can store your characters and update them as they gain levels.

Okay, guys... sorry about the delay on this, but it has taken me a bit to get settled (and motivated) after returning from vacation.

Just a quick announcement to share that I don't think I'm going to run the same introductory adventure that what was planned. I'm still narrowing down some choices but I don't expect it to take long to prepare once I've made a decision on what to actually run.

Looking forward to it.

Are we going to be starting again, rather than continuing where we are and the DM use a bit of sleight of hand?

Also, we rolled up two characters so we had a second to rejoin quickly if the first died. Is this still the plan? Otherwise I might consider starting with my other character.
