Re: Activation Station II, The Cold Basement
Activation Station II, Still Cold
Princess makes some hand motions in the cold silence before turning her back to the black void in the floor. Maag thinks the void is only a pit he could easily jump, so he ropes up and takes a few steps backwards before running forward and leaping the entire 5 foot distance with improbable grace from such a powerful figure. The half-orc feels an intense evil as he passes over the void, seeing absolutely nothing through the inky darkness below.
Without making a sound, he lands safely on the other side. Looking further into the room, the water filled pool in the floor and the area of darkness beyond it are still visible in the dim torchlight. The utter silence is almost as creepy as the feeling of evil that permeates this entire room.
The others watch in awe, wondering how they will get across the void if the thief needs help.

Daisy
Daisy sags with relief when she sees Maag land safely. She looks around to see if there is anything to tie the rope to.

Wake
Wake will also look for something to tie the rope to, but if there is nothing obvious he will tie the rope to himself to allow the other to get across the gap.

Yrias in turn takes a look at the pit too. If there's a way to hold the rope either by trying it to something or to Wake, he'll he the first to try to pass to the other side.

Feanol
Will speak up seeing what is happening. She will let them know that this will be difficult for her, so she may need to go when there are people on both sides to aid her.

Maag
Maag unties the rope from himself before someone accidentally drags him backwards into the pit. He throws it back across for the next person to use as a safety line. Then he stands at the corner where the wall and the pit meet, to keep an eye on as much of the room as possible. Beckoning with his arm he indicates he's ready to catch the next person who leaps.

Activation Station II, Cold And Dark
Finally adjusting to the much colder temperature in this lower room, the group looks for a way to tie off Maag's rope so the rest of the group can cross the evil void. Nothing is found near the stairs to tie the rope off, so it will need to be held onto until the last person crosses.
Pincess keeps humming while Feanol looks around nervously, unsure if she will be able to make the crossing without aid. As Wake ties up, and Maag readies to catch the next victim leaper, the magical silence in the room abates, allowing everyone but Princess to hear a buttery yet slightly agitated male voice coming from the wall of blackness beyond the floor pool.
"........days, I have never witnessed such audacity. WHY WONT ANY OF YOU ANSWER ME?!?!?!?!?"

The Princess
When she finally hears herself humming, Wake's comment confuses her. "I'm right here. I guess the void didn't suck anyone in yet. Good."
She turns to face the room and the problem of getting everyone across.

Yrias simply crosses the abyss and waits for an answer from the mysterious voice.

Maag
Maag turns his head at the sudden voice. "Wot? Wot? Who's dat?" He shrugs. "Well, 'cos we couldn't 'ear yer before. Wot can we do for yer?" The peril of his current position dawns on him. "...Sir?"
When he sees Yrias attempting to cross the void, he reaches out to assist him.

The Princess
"We'll get you across, Mayor. Don't worry. You too, Feanol."
She takes stock of those on the near side and formulates a plan. "I think Darklin and I can jump it Wake as well. Do you think it would be better to have a rope tight for you to climb across, or tie one to you for Maag to hold as we throw you?"
"Maybe both?"
OM. How confident should she be in her ability to jump across?

Re: Activation Station II, The Cold Basement
I would think anyone close to human size without a STR or DEX deficiency could make a 5' jump with a running start. But feel free to use any safety measures you like.
Activation Station II, Cold And Dark
The Basement
While the others discuss possible ways of getting everyone across, Yrias simply backs up and takes a running leap, landing on the other side of the disturbing void with a foot of room to spare. Maag and Wake respond aloud now that the silence has run its course.
The smooth as butter male voice calms slightly, still coming from the area of magical darkness beyond the pool in the floor. "Well, that is a little more like it, and it's about time. I don't necessarily appreciate all the mystery, but it is a nice surprise to have guests for a change, even uninvited ones such as yourselves."
"Now, perhaps you can tell me why you think a proper introduction is begun by tossing illuminated lucre in someone's direction, and then ignoring them completely after they address you? What do you mean by, you couldn't hear me? Can you not hear me now?"
"Please, step forward and show yourselves. All of you."

Re: Activation Station II, The Cold Basement
There's my problem. Unit conversion.

The Princess
"Ok. Let's get you two across. Tie off while Wake holds the other end and I'll give you a boost." She calls out to someone across the void. "Give us a hand, will you? Get ready to catch them!"
Once Daisy or Feanol is across, they will repeat with the other. Then run and leap across herself.
Re: Activation Station II, The Cold Basement
Wake
Wake will jump across the gap as well when everyone is done with the rope.
"We can hear you now kind sir, previously there was some kind of sound damping field but it appears to have ended. My name is Wake, how may we address you?"

Re: Activation Station II, The Cold Basement
Yrias rolls the rope and gives it back to its original owner (was it Maag?). Since Wake it's doing the talking with the mysterious voice, he doesn't add anything to the conversation. The mage cleric looks in the dark trying to discern who's talking to them... Or what.
