Sazqelmiqariepr, do what you can, and good luck to you. Do you need to spruce up your wardrobe? I can fund that.

Duelling sometimes solves things. But this time, well, it’s pack. Can’t fight them for saying I’m against them. But if I find this Oelue, I can fight him.
Not tooth and claw though. I’ve got and idea about him and his ship. Got a friend in port admin, I’ll ask about the ship. Where it is, who’s on it. Maybe they get inspected, if we give a reason. Impounded, if they have contraband.

For now, I’ll do recruiting the boring way. Agencies, datanet recruitment forums, all that. Then, bars.

Sazqelmiqariepr, do what you can, and good luck to you. Do you need to spruce up your wardrobe? I can fund that.

Daehaggzoegr, Tsek, tell me plain if Uziha is funding this venture or not. If they are, it changes how I deal with this. A tick is a different thing than a skeeter bite.

And Daehaggzoegr, thanks, I do have ads for you to post, and the cash. Again, I invest my own money, you can tell anyone this.

Rradzoka uses his comm to register accounts and place job adverts: Admin roll: [_2d6]=(6+5)=11 +1 Int, +1 Skill = 13

Rradzoka also sends a text to Dzektsavurzouk Llorsfung asking to meet.
Daehaggzoegr answers: I don't believe so. They have a nasty reputation. But I'm fairly new here and don't ask too many "why" questions of people who hire my ship for unspecified (non-military) activities in dangerous systems.
And Tsek adds No! No. Agnuez has never struck me as that sort. He deals in useful things, not people and their vices. Trades fairly. Stays legal. I spoke with him because he'd just sold a cross-border transport business and thus had cash to spare.

They both sound like they believe he's not involved.

Dzektsavurzouk returns your text, suggesting a cozy, but pricy, Souggvuez-run eatery on the edge of the tourist quarter, not far from the port.
Table for 2?

Rradzoka quickly finds that the job board registration process is quite quick, but the various bodies want either a percentage of salary offered, an up-front fee or both. Typical rates are 6%-36% of salary and/or fees of up to Cr5000. It's hard to broker a deal remotely - and it isn't really your skill set. Agnuez (or one of his minions) may be good for that.

Everyone thinks your adds are excellent

Saz leaves the crowd and makes his way into town. The port is about the only place where Human clothing is regularly available - or the Imperial Quarter (a space now only partly occupied and definitely less imperial).

His trail from the Hotel to the quarter is straightforward.

A Streetwise roll would be useful for now (+0 skill; +1 EDU). As would a separate Recon (-3 for skill but +2 for PSI).

Self-interest. If you are in my pack, you reflect on me, I can’t have you making us look cheap.

Rradzoka transfers 1KCr to Saz’ account. (If he has the cash, he'll use that instead.)

You need more, ask.

Good. Then we refute the lie whenever we can, honestly.

Rradzoka messages Agnuez with the details and links, asking for assistance in negotiating a rate, with a preference for the percentage model for agencies (to encourage them to find good applicants) and flat fees for open boards (that do not actively seek candidates).

Sazqelmiqariepr

Leaving the hotel, Sazqelmiqariepr makes his way through the town to the port looking for a shop that sells human-shaped clothing. In doing so he passes "Consulate Street" where the UFA has concentrated their diplomatic presence.

The Regency Consulate appears to be bustling with large grav-vehicles coming and going in relays - The gates (unusually) shut. A sign notes that Regency Citizens should have left the UFA by 001-1138 to be inside the Regency's Quarantine Line.

Further down the street is the Zhodani Trade Delegation. The very building to which Sazqelmiqariepr was headed before his diversion into Captivity. He struck by a sense of nostalgia for the settled ways of Home, and in his reverie briefly mistakes a consular clerk, heading into the building for work, for Iineznozatl - the woman he's unlikely to ever see again but whose ideal gave him something to hope for while imprisoned.

The Dzarrgh Federate's building is carefully secured behind high walls and top-notch security while the abandoned Ikhaba Shipping Delegation (opposite) appears to have been colonised by the city's itinerant and destitute.

Adjacent to the "Todd Diplomatic Services" building, there is a small store that sells practical and stylish clothes at reasonable prices and made to various fashions. It is a veritable goldmine, and seems to have a tailor that also provided uniform to the various consular staffs in the area. It can provide wear for formal, informal or work situations, in space or on the planet.

Apologies for the delay in replying.

Following Rradzoka’s advice, Denghez will go and have a friendly chat with Erogksu. He lacks any subtly but rather than intimidate, or threaten, the younger pup, he’ll try and learn is Erogksu knows anything about Uziha and who has been spreading rumours to the pack.

Erogksu is pleased to see Denghez, until Denghez starts asking questions about the Uzhia. He then looks affronted. I'd never do anything for them! he states emphatically.

When he's told about the rumours that Rradzoka’s been hired by the Uzhia, he yips amusedly. I don't know why anyone would try that. After rescuing you and that Human, I'd have thought they'd want to space him not employ him! Give it a few days and whoever started that rumour will be in hot water from the Uzhia for using their name in vain!

By the way, who are the guys watching the Hotel? They must be something to do with you lot as some of them followed the Human when he left.

He drags Denghez to the mezzanine above the lobby and points to a Human and a a Vargr sat where they can see both front and side exits - and the main lifts/stairs.

Rradzoka contacts his mother:

Mum, I just found out what rumours are going around about me. I want to reassure you they’re lies. You know that, of course. Why’d I be hiding out here after a slave break, only to work for Uziha?

I need someone who knows media, who can put the message out. I’d never work for Uziha, and I wouldn’t hire any fool who believes I would. Know anyone? I've got a budget, and a contract for them.

I'm afraid the Fu Gora is off world at present on UFA business. For private business we will contact her Secretary. For UFA business we will contact the UFA Department of External Affairs and ask for the Windhorn Pact of Two section.

After a few moments, her Private Secretary answers...

...And assures you that this is a serious accusation that needs to be dealt with quickly - Having her Son implicated with the Uzhia would make Deputy Chief Assistant Consul Gora look complicit and hypocritical!

Your mother uses the department media relations section, so you needn't worry about hiring anyone yourself.

When Rradzoka explains that isn't quite what he meant (and why he needs a hagiographer), the secretary says that he has some ideas and will enquire.

Sazqelmiqariepr pauses briefly , contemplating abandoning the Vargr and entering the consulate - but he owes his freedom to them. Once the mission is over; once he's repaid his debt.

He enters the store and looks around. Once an employee approaches or is spotted he says, "I need a new set of clothes. As you can see - i had a rather unfortunate .... run-in. Something in the line of high end work clothes, not quite formal, but something befitting a ... starship officer. May i see your inventory that fits that? And what are your prices?"

Saz looks at the clothes available. They vary from middle-class to definitely classy; with price tags from Cr70 to Cr120 for the major items - Practical underwear is cheaper by a factor of 10, some formal garments stretch to 10 times those prices. They also have a bespoke service. Those items will be more expensive still...Dress for a state ball could reach 12,000 or so, but a formal, hand stitched, business suit would come in at Cr200+

Denghz will thank Erogksu and promise to buy him a drink soon. He will try and find a spot where he can keep an eye on the Human and Vargr so he can see who they’re watching for. If possible he will send a surreptitious pic of the two to the others to see if they know who they are. It appears that they have been following Saz.

Denghez only has a view from above - Getting a good picture isn't likely unless they look at you imaging them. A few attempts proves that this is so. However, he does send a message to the group warning them of the pair, and their accomplices.

Saz receives the message while discussing the latest Zhodani fashion styles with the shop assistant. From his location, he can see that he is the only human in the store (other than the uniformed staff) but there are some Vargr and Souggvuez sat at a tables outside the Café opposite.

The other two receive the messages as they are making calls regarding recruiting.

Daehaggzoegr and Tsek look up from their own discussions as the messages come in...Is that a hit for crew, already?

You are unable to assure them that it is.

Yeelau looks over the message with her HUD Display " Somehow, I doubt this is good news." as she approaches her Driver " Going to be a rough ride, assume we are being followed." as she leans forward slightly entering her vehicle, she looks around for anyone watching her.

Kishiran moves off with aplomb and circles aimlessly for a few minutes before coming to a halt at a junction. Well I couldn't see anyone following us he says.
Please make Recon/INT roll if you want to form your own opinion.

So where would you want to start?

While trying to capture an image of the pair, he almost misses Yeelau exiting the building. This causes the Vargr of the pair to get up, move towards the door, make a call and return to the human.

They call over a waiter and get another round of beverages.

It was only the big one.

Yeelau is also convinced that they aren't being followed. Or if they were, Kishiran's aimless wanderings have thrown them.

If nothing else, the pair have had a good trip about the city's back-streets passing landmark and swampy parks aplenty.

It starts to rain. Heavily. Perfect for the Souggvuez, less so for Aslan.
