Tell the truth......
How many of you have seen the 3 gallon + 5 gallon = 4 gallon puzzle before?
Any Die Hard fans out there?

Never.
Re: B S (XI)
Me either, never seen it. But it kind of reminds me of the cannibals and missionaries puzzle.

I remember it from the movie, but at the time couldn't follow the solution. I guess only two containers made it easier for me to visualize this time.
Re: B S (XI)
I have heard variations before
Re: B S (XI)
Is it from the third movie? Because that movie doesn't exist. (Maybe Santa will bring me that two hours of my life back as well )

Wasn't that like from Die Hard #97. The bomb in the fountain?
All things are possible through Magic.

I think I have only seen the first one.

I don't actually remember it from the movie.
But when I did a google search, Die Hard popped up, so I figured everyone knew about it already.

I recognized it, but I wasn't clear on the math. Plus, you folks already had it covered.

Folks: I'm a regular on the Goodreads.com site. They do giveaways of pre-release books for people to read and review- I assume this is to start some buzz about the book, and to get some random quotes for the book cover.
I just got a copy of How to Defend your Lair, by Keith Ammann (who also wrote The Monsters Know What They're Doing). It's a guide to planning encounters with logic, so that your monsters and NPC's aren't just swordfodder that the PCs can mow down like weeds.
I'll post my thoughts on the book when I've finished it.

I’m guessing there may have been some inspiration there, one way or the other.
