Tuurma stays put at the moment, standing in the doorway looking in both directions of the hallway so that nothing sneaks up on the others.

She is about to shout something to Maxon, but then doesn't, apparently changing her mind. Instead she turns to Kain.

"Kain, can you read anything in there? What does it say?"

While we wait for possible rolls….

Kain and Ceana move further into the tomb to find it thoroughly picked through already, with nothing to find but a long sandy dune that starts just inside the broken door. The sarcophagus is empty and badly cracked, as are the walls and ceiling of this chamber.

The hieroglyphs are Thracian, easily translated by the cleric.

AND THEN I DIVED,
IN MY LONE WANDERINGS, TO THE CAVES OF DEATH,
SEARCHING ITS CAUSE IN ITS EFFECT; AND DREW
FROM WITHERED BONES, AND SKULLS, AND HEAPED UP DUST,
CONCLUSIONS FORBIDDEN BY THOSE WHO SEEK TO TEACH.

Kainaxarthos

He conveys the words and pauses in thought. "Caves of death. Huh. And I gather they found something, maybe knowledge?" He shakes off the dark imagery and smiles. "Well, that's a cheery epitaph. Shall we move on?"

Assuming there are no more glyphs to decipher obscured by sand, Kain moves back to the door.

Cogmag shifts from foot to foot, with bow and arrow ready, looking all around. He's anxious to get started and is wondering what the hold-up is. 17 and first time off the farm! :D

Tuurma shrugs wide eyed at Kain and follows him with her gaze as he passes by.

"Found what? What knowledge? Hey! Was that all it said?"

As it becomes clear to her that there is no more information to be had she grunts like a grumpy old man, but follows him back to the door.

"...hrmph fucking weak assed clerics can never write anything out, no it had to be some vague forbidden knowledge bullshit..."

Shakes his head at the amount of noise this group makes. Continuing his watch of the hallway.

Kainaxarthos

Kain chuckles at Tuurma's assessment. "See, I think the issue is the teaching. We get taught all these big words and symbolic imagery, and then when we want to explain something those teachings come out."

"Besides, no organized religion can help but use lots of words to convey a simple thought. Also in the teachings." He winks at her.

Maxon gets a few chips of stone, and damn near smashes the hand holding the chisel. He hands the tools back and steps away, saying nothing- the embarrassment is clear.

Questions And Comets

With nothing but sand to find in the looted tomb with the hieroglyphs, a quick discussion about religions suddenly pops up.

Maxon uses his hammer and chisel on the built-in lock of the rusted iron door. After almost smashing his own hand with the first loud blow, his second try nearly pops the locking mechanism clear of its mounting completely. His last blow might have finished the job, but he misses almost as badly as his first whack. He stands back embarrassed, but knows the noise he made will be worth it if they can just get a couple more good hits on the lock.

The others watch on with growing impatience, cringing at each smash on the door that rings out even louder in the unnatural silence of this forgotten mausoleum.

Ceana

While Maxon attempts to wake the dead, Ceana moves to the next door on the left and listens. If she hears nothing, she attempts to open it.

Taibhse

Somewhat amused at the noise and inefficiency Taibshe simply smiles a bit. Then makes his way out to the western edge of the southern building, and listens then takes a peak. Just wanting to make sure there is nothing he can't see from his vantage point. On the way he will look to the North to make sure nothing is gathering there either.

Kainaxarthos

As his ears ring from the whacking, his only thought is that he really should have checked for rogues before they left. There were probably two in the group at large, right? The Pict and the bard? I wonder what they're doing right now...

He moves to lend a shoulder to Ceana's efforts.

Questions And Comets

With the help of Cormag, Maxon is able to hold the iron bar while his new friend pounds the lock out from the heavy iron door. The process is LOUD however, accompanied by a strange sound of stone sliding over stone that is barely audible coming from somewhere you cant pinpoint. They push the creaking door in to find an undisturbed dusty tomb beyond complete with 5 stone sarcophagi that line the outer wall of the crypt. This place is deathly quiet.

Ceana and Kain move to the next door along the northern hallway, finding that it too has already been forced open, likely by grave robbers who came here before them. Together they push the door into another silent stone tomb, this one containing a single marble sarcophagi upon a corner dais. The stone walls of this tomb are mostly covered with carvings in bas relief, again hard to make out any details from the doorway.

Taibhse moves away from the pounding and searching, heading back to the end of the sand choked hallway for a better vantage point to keep watch. So far the highland shaman hasn't seen anything dangerous arriving on site yet, but he still hears the muffled sound of stone on stone coming from somewhere.

Ceana

"Let's go check it out," she says to Kain, stepping into the room. The Kelt druid slowly approaches the dais and the gleaming sarcophagus. She looks to see if it has been tampered with. If not, she will try and open it.

Tuurma follows Ceana and Kain into the marble sarcophagi room in her clanking armor, focusing on the carvings as well, mouth wide open.

"Who is this temple dedicated to anyway? Who rests here?"

Cormag looks at the room and then and Maxon. There was talk of undead creatures? Maybe we should explore this rooms as a group? He'll take his lead from Maxon as far as going in or getting the gang back together.
