Harker looking a bit defeated at the rejection of his suggestion says. "Let's show these brigands what an ambush really looks like."

Igber
Right or Left Flank? Do you think they will be set up this side of the gulley at the bottom or the other? Or part way up the other side where the cart would be struggling?

Conweena

"I prefer the right flank, it would allow me to advance with my shield towards the enemy."

The gray patches are intended to represent slopes, with the road being low, and the stream being the lowest. Those rocky slopes are too steep for the wagon, of course, but not too steep to climb on-foot, though they may require a save vs. dex so you don't stumble or fall. The grid is 20ft sq.

As you can see, the road ahead bends to the left, but then what is not shown here is that the road then takes a sharper right, and is lost behind a bluff.

"Given how the road turns to the left, if the enemy forces are planning an ambush on either side of the river, the best place to scout their location and maintain the high ground will be coming from the left. If we follow the first ridge to our left there is a collection of bouldera that will give a fair view of the bridge (just the one light green tree to work around) and we can hopefully see the ambushing force."

Let me know a firm course of action. Maybe draw a battle plan on the map?

OK - Then I'd better start "Scouting"...If I find anything dangerous, I'll make sure I scream loudly if it starts chasing me!

Anyone else coming?

Will any one accompany Igber in his scouting expedition, or no?
If not, BackworldTraveller, roll appropriate dice for moving silently, and hiding if you wish to try to be stealthy.
For everyone else, if you're not going to accompany Igber, what will your characters do while you wait?

"Igber, if you would rather, we could just all go and not be as sneaky."

Sneaky's fine. First is less so, but I'll go. Just come quick if I scream...and slow if I don't. And no shooting the sneaky guy if its me!

Traesta will lead the rest of the group up the first rise (following Igber's path just after the first bend) so we can come to Igber's aid if needed.

Pebble supposes he should follow along to. He doesn't want to be the only one left by the cart!

Drego watches you all get ready to go explore
"Wait a minute... You're not all going to go, and leave me here alone, are you?"

Dorath hangs back a bit, but follows Conweena forward, with a stone in his sling, and his sand near at hand. Have no fear, they will be waiting ahead in ambush, not traveling the road.
