Confident that the door is not trapped Quinn grabs hold of the bronze rings and slowly pulls the double doors open.

OOC: Since Quinn is the only one in the tunnel he should be the only one who suffers if this goes bad. With only a 55% find/remove traps Quinn is probably going to learn his lesson the hard way. I doubt his overconfidence will last very long.

Out & about last night, so I'm playing catch-up here.

After clearing a portal, Urdak grunts gratefully at McCloud's offer of hooch. Of course he gulps down more than the Half-Elf originally expected. He watches the Bard move into the hole, travel down a web-ridden passageway and inspect the double-doors. Webs. Webs means hrerspoe. (Tixs will recognize the Dwarven word for "spiders.") Only him cn see trappins? Tsa mine. Ae shd go. So deciding out loud, the Mountain Dwarf crawls thru the hole, grabs the rope and rappels himself (All 170# of himself, as opposed to Quinn's 145#) into the tunnel.

Hopefully this will yank Quinn away from the doors so others can also check for traps. Just because we'll all likely die here doesn't mean we shouldn't take all precautions! Besides, Quinn's loaded with cure spells.

McCloud will shout a few encouragments to the daring duo as the rest of us peer into the excavated hole. "Perhaps burn away a few of the cobwebs, they might reveal some hidden danger spot in the roof. Any way we can shore up the hole (using a few planks from the boat seats or loose timber around?). would hate to see a cave-in suffocate the guys, besides we'd have to dig out their bodies to get to the door beyond. Perhaps if you tied the rope end to the door handles we could play a bit of tug-of-war and open in from a safe distance?"

McCloud will be happy to belay the guys down, straining a bit under the dwarfs bulk.

Just as Urdak enters the hall Quinn opens both doors. The bard is greeted by the sight of a stone wall beyond and the grinding sound of moving rock. Before he can ponder how he missed the trap a shower of boulders rains down on him and the dwarf as the ceiling collapses.

ooc: Urdak take 24 damage, Quinn takes 18 damage
[5d10] = 18
[5d10] = 24

Bindle kicks up to his feet and rushes over to the hole peering down inside. If any need help getting back out he assists in getting them back topside.

We must be more careful this place is known as a death trap for a reason.

Skiiratch lets out an audible sigh of exasperation as a cloud of dust billows out of the tunnel opening.

"It would certainly appear not," Quinn says with a smile. He dusts off before climbing out of the hole adding, "perhaps one of the more experienced Thieves can check for traps in the future. Looks like I am a bit rusty."

McCloud will utter a few 'celtic'-suloise curses under his breath. Having a spade nearby he will react to the cave in by digging out the narrow entrance way to assist in dragging out Urdak and Quinn. How hurt are they? Still walking wounded hopefully with only pride dented?

"Pointless to say that we should have burned the cobwebs down and checked the ceiling for unstable construction around the door. Did say perhaps we could have shored up the dug-out entrance.", McCloud will exasperate, "if it was just a bricked-up entrance hall, do we dig somewhere else?"

McClouds' mind will tick over...if the hill resembles a skull shape, did we dig in a space relative to its' mouth position and just got swallowed up? perhaps we should consider an 'eye socket' dig or wriggle our way in through an ear canal? (just trying to think lateral here?).

Priority though to aid Urdak and Quinn if needed and strategise after.

“I am not badly hurt but I would be honored to be healed by someone of such skill and reputation,” Quinn replies with a smile.

Turning to the others he adds, “We might as well start looking for another entrance.”

Quinn and Urdak are able to pull themselves free of the rubble with some help.

OOC: Stirling, the tunnel was found on the north side of the hill at the west end of an eroded cliff face. This eroded area is 20' high and about 200' long with a stone ledge running across the top. It would be located behind the skull which rests on the flat peak looking south.

"Spread out. Let's begin the search anew. Call out if you find something."

Skiiratch heads up towards the skull on the southern side of the hill and begins looking there.

Quinn will continue his search along the eroded cliff face working east. He will use his spear to penetrate the brambles and to poke into the earth looking for any stone construction.

Bindle will walk back to pick up his alcohol. He then takes his Jo Stick and extends it and uses it to poke and prod all around the hill top and on either side until something of note is found.

Urdak blows a bloody, muddy snotbubble from one nostril, then the other. Muttering Dwarven expletives he checks his helm for dings, and in doing so notices the bone protruding from his elbow. Heh! Got m'scar a'ready! Heh heeehhhh! He offers his arm to Erodhon, so close the Elf can smell whiskey. 'Ere, Fine Iron Chain, make a scar!

Several of you begin searching other areas of the hill for an entrance. After about a half hour Quinn is the first to find something.

Prodding the eroded cliff face with his spear he hits something solid a dozen yards to the east of the first tunnel. With a second poke it gives way creating a small hole in the hill side. Bricks that were concealed under the sand tumble into the opening. With a little more poking it is clear that another tunnel entrance, this time bricked up, is hidden here.

Bindle helps to knock out a few bricks then kneels down inspecting the work to see if it's newer construction or if it's seen the wear and tear of time.

Wait guysh, what ifsh these bricksh were put here by an old party? Thish screamsh of a trap Bindle says slurring his words horribly as he takes another drink and inspects the bricks.

Quinn calls the others to show them his discovery as he digs around the bricks looking for an entrance.
