Fair, Zenopus' stuff is really good! And he's passionate about Holmes.

I'm probably going to end up moving these tangential posts to someplace more appropriate, but definitely feel free to keep gabbing.

I literally just found it today.

There's a lot of Holmes love out there, apparently. I'm sure someone can/will step up and organize a game in that edition.

This is the Holmes game I ran on here. Sort of a Holmes/HarnWorld mash up. It was fun and we got all the way through the module.

This was an interesting house rule:
- Roll 3d6 and arrange in any order, please use the Roll the dice feature and not the Roll Stats feature
Subtract the total of your 6 attributes from 75, if 0 or less ignore, otherwise add the remaining points where ever you want with a max of 18 in any single attribute.

Indeed. Similar to what we did
here. If you had less than 70 points, you could have a minor magical item as a family heirloom. If 62-70, it could have capability of a 1st level spell 1/week. If less than 62 it could be 1/day or a +1 weapon.
The "add points" makes sure no PCs are ever below average. This method allows being below average and a creative narrative solution. The below average characters were some of the most fun to watch.

That is a house rule I have used a bunch over the years, seems to work well. The method I have been considering trying but have never used is roll 18 d6 and arrange them into 6 sets of 3 die. If I try that one I will allow re-rolls on all 1's, which gives a average total of 72 or 12 per score.

I use 4d6 place in any order if you do not roll and least 2 15 or greater then make you two highest stats 15 also boost anything below 9 to 9

Just to let people know, I am tabling any plans I had of starting a new game right now. There is just too much going on and I have other priorities I need to focus on at the moment.
Thanks to Paladin for starting his
Holmes Basic? recruitment thread. That made this decision a lot easier to make.

I'm in that odd frame of mind where I am itching for another game and I dont know if I want to play in or run another. Will it be d&d or something i never did before. My first game as GM seems to be going well (Ghostbusters) so I am kind of in the air. Anyone else looking for something have an idea?

A pure Western (Boot Hill) or Weird West (Revolvers & Wizardry - an OSRIC supplement) come up a lot. Folks want to play, but no one wants to GM

That's in the non-AD&D camp for sure. I think we've had superheroes before, and either a Gangbusters or a Top Secret. Whew, lots to choose from for sure!

Okay, you have to help me out with that one! What is it?
I listened to a podcast not long ago that was weird west and it sounded like a lot of fun! If everyone would put up with my AC illiteracy for a bit I could probably be talked into doing one.

Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea. A great oldschool D&D clone with a really gritty Lovecraftian/Howard vibe.
I have been thinking about running a game of it on here for a couple of years now, but cant seem to pull the trigger for some reason.
Now that I think about it, we could use a game of Deadlands or some DCC Dark Trails here on TUS.

Stirling is currently running the only Deadlands game at the moment and he is running the Reloaded (Savage Worlds) version. There are more DnD flavored version of Weird West if you want to stick with a system you are familiar:
I'm sure there are more that I missed by this is an idea for running Weird West with the d20 mechanic.

I realize this will probably fall on deaf ears, but if anyone is interested in Pathfinder 2, there's a Humble Bundle deal going on right now.
https://www.humblebundle.com/books/path ... -inc-books
I would be interested in playing in a game, but definitely not running one.

Made a pathfinder char once! Never got to play him though! LOL!
So far we have:
Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea (which is Conan if I am not mistaken)
Weird West d&d
Pathfinder 2
Which of these would yall be interested in playing and/or running?
I am willing to run any of these but I would need more than a little time to acclimate myself to the systems. Also wouldn't mind being a player in any of them if someone else wants to take or share the reigns.
