Luther

Luther is glad to abandon his plan and join the feast at the table. He seems to spend more time watching the women than he does eating, but he still enjoys a good breakfast of fruit and roast beast.

I wonder how these folks would feel about having the village moved here? The land is cleared- and obviously fertile- and I'd guess there's plenty of space for everyone.

Monocar

Sitting with Luthar and happily stuffing his face. He does still seem distracted, but nods. I wonder how hard it would be to just clear a route from here to the logging trail. It has to be just west of here. That would make an easy move, right?
Wonder where these guys are from? This might have been their place before Bing took over. They might like the idea of us coming here, they might not. What about the Phanatons? Think they are close by? Might want to tell them of we are moving too. I'd hate to think of them getting lonely or feeling left out of a big plan. They might take a fence to it... whatever that is supposed to mean. We need to look in these buildings too and see if we can find clues about our friends. I worried they might have met a bad end at some point. Wait... you dont think they might have went with Cap'in Bing do you? what if they were with that group that just left the other day?
What are we supposed to do then?

Lightfinger resists... At first.

No, I told you I'm not getting up right now... He opens his eyes and sees the lovely dark native lass trying to pull him awake... Oh, I'm getting up right now, yes, I'm up, I'm very up. I don't think we've been introduced, I'm called Lightfinger, but my name is Arte. I'd truly like to know your name as well, but what's in a name? You're name is Love! My, but you have warm, welcoming smile! And your grass skirt is quite the fashion statement. Did I ever tell you, back where I'm from it was my duty to keep the lawn shorn? Well, in my experience, your grass is entirely too long. I could help you with that, truly, it would be no bother at all. He continues his schpeel until the Woman shows him to the feasting table. Good morn, my fellows! Look what I found! Darling little slice, eh? Oh, here, Love, you can sit by me. Kindly fill my bowl with this delectable-looking breakfast and I shall return post haste! The Hobbit scurries as quickly as his injuries allow to the spaces occupied by the Clerics, and hisses desperately. Licorice! Tailoris! I need healed. I need healed now. Will you just look at her, all giggly and dewy, ripe and ready! I need healed! I can't perform in the agony I'm currently suffering, and I simply can't walk away from... From that! She's perfect, can't you see? The Gods sent me to this island to experience her! I need some healing, just a small dose. I'm small, I won't consume much! But of her, I will consume twice my own share! I can see it in her eyes, she wants Tallfellow children! Such beautiful creatures they will be!

Lightfinger is aghast.

Picture Timon when Simba & Pumba become friends with Nala.

Still, he doesn't want his doe-eyed beauty to escape, so he hurries back to his place.

Chauncey soaks in the praise that he knows is rightfully his. "FiaMasta! Yes. It certainly has a ring to it," he says, smiling to himself and steepling his fingers. "Please, please... my compatriots helped. They certainly deserve some small amount of praise."

The beauty of the serving girls is completely lost on him, though he does find them efficient and accommodating. After partaking of breakfast he approaches the chief and attempts to communicate a matter that occurred to him on first awakening. "Hello, my dear Chief," he says. "Chief -Chauncey... friends." He draws little figures in the dirt representing himself and the chief with a line between them and points to them as he says this. He then draws another, smaller representation of a Phanoton and draws another line connecting himself and the new figure. "Chauncey -Phanoton... friends." He points to the treetops when he says Phanoton, then looks at the chief meaningfully. He then draws a new line from the Phanoton to the chief. "Chief - Phanoton...friends," he says, adding "Please do not eat them." He pantomimes eating, then shakes his head in disapproval.

Alordan tries to show his gratitude for the meal with nods and smiles all around.

To Lightfinger or Chauncy "Can you ask what happened with the men down the river? Do they know of the ship?"

Returning Camp To The Natives
Sunday, The 7th of Goodmonth
Morning, Warm, Misty, Smokey

Lightfinger instantly and unequivocally...... falls in love.

The young females all play along, much to the amusement of the warriors nearby. The young girls feign jealousy when Arte show more affection to one over the others. The whole scene seems to entertain the native people somewhat, but one of the shorter girls in the group does actually seem to be showing a bit more attention to the halfling than the rest. Lerrick isn’t quite as amused as the others, she shakes her head at the proceedings.

Luther and Monocar discuss uniting the native village with the struggling people of Beachtown, seeing plenty of opportunities that would benefit both groups as they look over miles of fertile land rising in elevation towards the center of the island. Monocar suggests looking for clues to what happened to the last group who came here.

Chauncey seems much happier now that the accolades have assumed their proper course, mentally jotting down more possible names for he and Avaala’s growing list. Now the natives respond with nods and smiles at the mage, even though they still have no idea what he is saying.

He sits next to the chief and the smiling native friend of Keilif’s. They attempt communication for some while, with marginal success this time, thanks to the sea priests former efforts. They seem very confused initially about not hunting the monkoons for food, but Chauncey doubles his efforts and drawings, hoping to make his point crystal clear. Give me a normal Charisma check in your next post, please.

Alordan suggests asking about the possible impending doom of the pirates return or if the natives know anything about Bings ship.

Chauncey tries once again to communicate his simple plan for island harmony, a plan involving the non-ingestion of fellow islanders. Were the Chief and the Smiling Man trying not to get his simple explanation, he wondered? His Phanoton rendering was skillful, his communication skills unparalleled. What’s not to understand?

Luther

Luther laughs at the halfling's antics, clearly enjoying the show. He finishes his breakfast, then pauses. Excuse me, Monocar. He gets up and walks to a nearby clump of trees, passing several of the locals, including some of the older women. did he hesitate as he walked through the group of tribespeople/ He steps into the trees.

Monocar

Watches Luthar leave and seems confused but nods. Yeah, sure, buddy. Holler if you need me.

He looks over to Lerrick and Talaris. Hey, guys.
I heard once that holy people can tell if stuff is magic. Is that true? I picked up this sword off the big fellow last night and... well, I don't know... it made my arm feel funny when I used it. Can you take a look at it?

Alordan feels much more spirited, as much as his melancholy will allow that is, after a sleep without bugs or fights. Physically he is bruised and battered but makes do.

"We should be tending to the river trail. Can you ask about that? should we scout that out on our way back to the town? Let them know what we've found out here and the possibilities that exist - and to prevent an unfortunate encounter? I doubt we have seen the last of Smuggler Bing - we should prepare the island for his return"

“As far as I can ascertain, Alordan, they seem to feel that they have the situation handled downriver, though I’m sure they would appreciate any assistance,” says Chauncey. ”And as far as explaining anything to them goes, my spell does not allow me to communicate clearly, only to understand what is said. Right now I am making a very clear and concise case for why they should not hunt and eat the phanoton.” Looking to Monocar, he adds “Given a bit of time, Monocar, I can tell you the nature of your new sword. Perhaps not til we get back into to the village, however.”

After finishing her meal Lerrick can't help but notice the obvious about her comrades...most are half dead. Fearful of what might happen with a possible counter attack she reaches out to her party members. She first goes to Chauncey. Can you ask the leader if they can help me heal our party? I am so grateful that they saved Lightfinger. However, I, along with Talaris can't heal everyone to full strength without their help. Please talk to them. Turning to Monocar, I don't have the power to identify the magic of the sword. I do have to the power to heal you. Can I do so? Turning to Talaris. Can you heal others as well?

Returning Camp To The Natives
Sunday, The 7th of Goodmonth
Morning, Warm, Misty, Smokey

Talaris has been eating and playing around with some of the native children, telling them of the vision he saw of Pelor’s image in the fire burst, even though they don’t understand a word the half-elf says. When Lerrick suggests healing, the priest immediately spends all three of his spells curing the most wounded of the group. His spells have lost some of their potency since the battle, but every little bit helps. He speaks....

To Lerrick: “Good thinking on the healing, but I don’t see how these natives who can barely understand us will be able to help with our wounds. Unless you want more of that black jungle voodoo that Lightfinger received?” She points to the still stained black lips and teeth of the groups horny little thief.

To Monocar: ”Monocar, the sword is obviously magical, or you wouldn’t be picking up anything specific about it. Once our group is fully healed, I will use Pelor’s great and mighty powers to reveal that fact for you. Did I mention that I saw a vision last night?”

To anyone else: “Do you see those natives searching through the ashes of the burned huts? We should have thought of that. There is no telling what magical items the pirates might have owned that could survive normal fire. I saw that one young native pocket a few trinkets from the ashes already. And look there! That one just found a shiny dagger. That may have been quite useful for one of us!”

The natives have indeed collected several blades from the fire that are being individually displayed to the chief as they are recovered, then placed on a pile near the warriors table. They throw any bones or burnt remains of the dead smugglers into the rushing pool at the base of the massive waterfall.

Luther watches all the pretty young girls frolicking around Lightfinger for a while before excusing himself from the breakfast table. Monocar watches as the ranger disappears into the nearby jungle. A lone, unremarkable woman from the tribe soon follows after the ranger, vanishing into the bush right behind the burly human.

Arte continues to revel in his bath of young, half naked, native girls, thinking that it’s possible he might have died in the battle and is now in halfling heaven. The small, jealous girl continues showing more affection than the others.

After much discussion, Chauncey is finally convinced the natives are quite certain that they shouldn’t be hunting the phanaton for food anymore. He seems very pleased with himself, again. In between mouthfuls of mystery meat, he and Alordan discuss the remaining group of smugglers, certain that Bing will be returning eventually. Chauncey let’s the concerned ranger know that the natives feel safe here now, so they should too.

Monocar

The big man smiles and nods to the clerics. Sounds good! So what do you think we should do now? Oh! Thanks I needed that... Good sleep, good breakfast, good company, and now some spiritual healing, I'm feeling much better! I appreciate it! Do you suppose there is anything we can do to help these folks? I mean... I prayed to Pholtus about it this morning, but he never really talks back, you know? I figure he is busy with... well whatever it is that he is doing up there, truth be told, I don't really understand it, you know what I mean? Anyway, what I mean to say is that I have been trying to think of what we can do like right now. I don't like this waiting around when I am right here and can be doing something to help these folks. I mean, look at them! Some of them don't even have pants! You ever had to go without pants? I did... Actually... come to think about it, I have had a lot of times on this trip where I seem to loose things... A whale ate my spear, I lost half my armor, my mace, my pants... twice... and my shirt once, heck, my brother used to say he thought I lost my mind a few times, but I assume I must have found it at some point or other... Not sure what he really meant by that though... Uh.... what were we talking about again?"

Lightfinger revels.

Clancey, my good man, did it occur to you these natives may be confused about not eating the monkoons because we possibly could be eating monkoons? I mean, it's not been made clear exactly what we've been feasting on, and it might seem odd that a man eating grapes would have an aversion to others eating grapes. Just a thought. And what a feast it has been, monkoon or not, I personally don't want to know. At any rate, I feel much better now that the foul black soot has been taken from my tongue. Like a true cad the Thief pokes the shorter, jealous girl in the side to make her jump and squeal. You. I choose you. Now then, I see I have some actual work to do, now that life has been restored and beauty returns to my eyes. My dear, help me over there to what remains of the structures, perhaps there are things only my training and instincts are able to locate.

Lerrik laughs at Lightfinger flirting with the native girl. Hold on there. Let me heal you first.
She shakes her head as she touches the thief. Soothing healing surges through the thief's body

CLW on Lightfinger: 1d8: for [1d8] = 6

The cleric then moves over to Monocar

CLW on Monocar: [1d8] = 1
Not satisfied with the result, she tries again.
2nd CLW on Monocar:[1d8] = 7

She smiles: Much better

Seeing magical trinkets being recovered, Chauncey will scuttle over to the former hut of the stinky mage and root around specifically where he saw the chests through the burning doorway in the hopes of uncovering something else of magical use. “Come on, come on! There’s got to be something left,” he mutters to himself as he sifts through the ashes.

Afterwards he will say to Lerrik, “As I’ve said, my communication spell does not allow me to speak their language. I had great difficulty making myself understood about the Phanoton issue, and handled it as skillfully as could be hoped, but I’m at a loss for how to specifically ask for real healing, I am afraid, as opposed to superficial baby-birding.”

Finally, he will head over to the remaining drying barn to see if he can acquire a handful of the mysterious herbs that were the root of all this trouble. He feels they might be highly useful in a ritual he intends to cast soon after returning to the village. If allowed, he will also pick up another handful, intending it as a souvenir for his fellow guild member Avaala. He wonders what his considerably less skilled sidekick magician friend is up to right now...
