Avaala the Grey
Avaala moves around the room and the hallway, looking for branches, vine, loose webbing or anything else that might cushion Rollo's fall. He tosses the debris on top of the spider's body. Hearing the others talk about the coins, he offers, "Everything we've seen so far has been either part of the door system, or part of a trap. I suspect that one of the coins opens a passage and the other blocks it. But that's just a guess."

Rollo
Rollo continues to pull at the webbing and the writhing vines. He sees below that Avaala is still there, and he whines at the mage to do something.

Brother Gilbert
He accepts the disk from Gramble and puzzles over in his mind what the two disks may mean. In the meantime, he walks over to Fieghtus and touches the dog's head, saying a prayer for his health.
You have been most brave, dear beast. With this touch I will aid your healing.

Maag
Maag recovers his rope, ties an iron spike to one end, and then hurls the spiked end up into the air and over Rollo's entwined body. If the weight of the spike drags the rope down again, he'll pull on it until both sides are of equal length.
Once he's done that, he walks over to the wall and prepares to climb up and hammer the spike in. Noticing that he lacks a hammer for this crucial part of his plan, he calls over to Gramble.
"Oi! Gramble! Is dat an 'ammer in yer belt? Or are yer just pleased to see me?" Maag cracks up again at his comedic genius.

Re: Quest #14 "Hidden Fortress of the Poison Spider Monsters
Inside The Wooden Structure
The Spoils
Freeday, 5th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Humid
Avaala looks for anything he can find to help cushion his dogs landing, still wondering if it will help with the 20 foot fall. Maag displays more of his "special" skills, rigging up a rope to tie around the hanging dog and spiking it to the wall to reduce the distance of the fall. He and Gramble have a bit of fun with that task, now that the tension of battle has diminished.
Jaxsen and Judson keep watch over the others as they help with the dog, watching all of the passages and the ceilings overhead. After the spike is driven into the higher logs of the wall, the druids spell wanes and the branches return to normal. The still webbed Rollo begins to slowly drop through the vines until the rope grows taught around him. With Maag still on the wall and holding the rope, the dog falls from the ceiling, He only drops a few feet before he swings hard into the wall with a loud grunt and soft whine. The dog clearly takes a bit of damage from the unsuspected slam into the gnarly logs, but he fares much better than falling all the way to the floor. 4 dam Maag slowly lowers the hound to the floor into the arms of the worried yet ecstatic wizard who is then able to clear the rest of the sticky webs away for him with his small blade.
Brother Gilbert acknowledges the war hound Fieghtus, healing him by the power of Pelor. The dog is starting to look much better now, and is back up to about half his normal strength. Storm helps calm the animal as well, glad to have them around. There is a bit of discussion about the second copper disk, with a few ideas presented as to the purpose they might eventually serve.
Saracen prays over the dead as he loots their bodies, killing two birds with one stone. With his usual hideous half-orc grin, he looks up at the others while piling up the plunder from both of the spiders victims. In total, he finds the following items that look like they might be of some interest:
A bright, shiny long sword
A matching bright, shiny dagger (both in decorative leather sheaths)
A clear glass potion bottle filled with a dark blue liquid
A small clear marble made of glass
A leather pouch containing 6 small gemstones
A cloth coin purse filled with:

Saracen looks over to the loot with interest.
Let me have a look at these and see if they are magical! he says, beginning a chant to the blinding light. Casts Detect magic
He will then inspect everything with his magical sight, noting what is and what is not enchanted.
Wondering if he can harvest the giant spiders exoskeleton to fashion into Augury stones he begins then to whittle away at some of them and place them in his pouches and pack for later smoothing and shaping.
He divides the money up evenly, including Eawads 13 gold, giving Jeevus all the coppers. 3 golds and 2 Silver each to all the companions leaving 1 platinum, 1 gold and 4 Silver, and 6 gemstones to be distributed once the magical items are claimed by members of the party.

Maag
Maag takes the money and chuckles. ""Swaaag for Maaag" he chortles, in what is presumably his version of a posh accent.
Once he's pocketed the money, he looks back at the way they came in. "Now den, it looks like dere's two udder ways back dere, one wiv webs an' one wivout. Which way are we gonna go?"

Re: Quest #14 "Hidden Fortress of the Poison Spider Monsters
Looking upon the pilfered items with his magical sight, the warrior priest finds that the long sword, dagger, and the potion all glow softly.
The copper disk also radiates as magical, though its glow seems much more slight than the other objects, as if it weren't some purposeful item necessarily, but possibly one small part of a larger unit.
The disks cannot be compared together unless someone goes back to retrieve the first one from its place on the wall, just beyond the slime pit.

Avaala the Grey
The mage nods to Saracen as the warrior priest hands him the coins, which he drops in his pouch.
Avaala finishes cutting the webbing from Rollo and inspects him closely. He worries over the bite marks on his neck, but decides the dog was as lucky as he is strong. "Good boy.... good boy," he says as he feeds him from his hand. He then walks over to Maag. "Thank you. Rollo is a big dog and I don't know if that thing would have slowed him down much." he says, pointing to the spider's carcass.
"Oh," he mutters to himself. "Chauncey would never forgive me if I forgot."
"I need a few moments," he says to the others. Avaala returns to the spider's carcass and inspects the head, cutting away the eyes, fangs and poison glands. He wraps them in some of the webbing he and Saracen cut away from the victims and Rollo and ties them off to the bottom of his backpack. He cleans and replaces his dagger.

Jaxsen Reiter
Jaxsen places his coins into his pouch. "Thank you, Saracen."
The monk volunteers to carry Eawad's body out if there is not to be an immediate burial. "He is small," he says, making light of the task of carrying a human body. "I could wrap him in some of these webs and make him even smaller." Looking over Eawad's other belongings, he asks, "What of his possessions? There is much here that cannot easily be replaced on the island. Weapons and gear."
Looking over at the remains of the Giant Spider, Jaxsen smiles. "THAT," he says. "is what happens when you fight our swarm. We are the beloved of Bralm and she teaches us to fight together."

Re: Quest #14 "Hidden Fortress of the Poison Spider Monsters
Storm will offer to carry a waterskin, and half the sling bullets if no one else wants them from Eawad’s remains. He agrees the island’s resources shouldn’t be wasted.
The Halfling inspects the gemstones more closely, though the orange robed half-orc watches him suspiciously as he does so. Storm will try and identify the stones and guesstimate their value in the light of a torch or one of the shining magical blades
Are we done here, or are we for retreating, resting and then trying to finish that web shooter and it’s minions, and try and figure out all the disks and what magic they contain?

Saracen eyes the sword and the dagger eagerly.
I wouldn’t mind taking the magical Longsword if no one else is interested. Perhaps we can play a game for it? If I can use my divine powers in the morning to try and see into the future before we test the magical items to see if any are cursed that might be prudent. Who wants the dagger? Maag? Judson? Gramble?”
The holy champion of light will watch the Halfling intently when the little Druid examines the gems found, knowing that all the shire folk are notorious thieves.

Jaxsen Reiter
Jaxsen holds up Eawad's pouch that holds his lock picks and thief tools. "I can make use of these, and have none of my own, if the rest of the swarm doesn't object." He finds empty bags in Eawad's pack. He begins to fill one of the larger ones with Eawad's other possessions. "His sword and armor are new. They are worth almost as much as the coins we found by themselves." He strips Eawad down to his loincloth, and then folds the body into a tight fetal position before wrapping him in webbing. Looking at the two bundles, Jax says, "Whether we go back or stay, I can carry the man or his goods. I cannot carry both. Who would take the other?"

"Well, I'll put me name in der 'at for der magic dagger" says the half-orc. "Der's not much else of 'is I can use. Tell yer wot....I'll take 'is lute".
If nobody else wants to carry the rest of Eawad's gear, Maag will take a few pieces, but he really wants to keep his hands free to use his crossbow in case the ettercap returns above.

Looks like you will be paid for another month after all Jeevus!
Gramble pets Feightus
I am not interested in the weapons, but some of those those gem stones could put me back into the red.
