Okay-Dokay All,

I am making a few changes to my core rule set. Nothing super major but all in your benefit. I am reducing the 1st level XP requirement form 3500 to 1500. For some of you it means the possibility of hitting 1st level soon. That means you et all of your class benefits and additional hit points.

I am also going to open the Looking For Players post back up for a few more players since we lost a couple (ArtoriasAbyssWalker & Keehnelf).

I have three new adventures lined up and two more in the works. So your characters will have several opportunities when they return to Dragons Belch, if they make it that far (mwahaha). I will be running two parallel adventures at that time. So you will have to choose which one you follow. I am hoping to have additional players by that time as well. two of the adventures will be small/short and two will be longer level advancing opportunities with significantly greater danger.

Some of the NPC's will depart form your company and some may stay. If you have a preference for who you would like to remain with the party by all means shout it out. I'm all about player participation.

Lastly, I would like to offer each character one special item of their choice. This will be a gift from the High Wizard Netheril upon your successful completion of his assigned task as a token of his appreciation and the hope that you will continue to perform services for him. You may choose any 1-2 lvl appropriate item you like. Keep in mind your race and class as well. It an be a weapon, armor, or miscellaneous item. It does not have to be an item already know in the D&D world. It can be from another game suck as Pathfinder or you can make something up. If you like you can give me a description of what you would like along with its abilities/powers and I will create it for you, taking my own liberties of course. Additionally if you would rather I come up with something and introduce it during game play that is perfectly fine as well. Just let me know either way, either here in the OOC or via PM. I will be randomly placing items of note periodically throughout your adventures as well.

Here is an example of an Item the character Zee will be recieving shortly:
Ignis Signum (Fire Beacon) (Eenyis Eeseen-yoom)
This 1” tall bronze figurine will light your way through darkness of any kind, including magical. She is immune to Darkness Spells and magically darkened areas. Upon command she will light and or perform rudimentary functions (see list of commands below). Her composition is 100% bronze that turns to a magically induced liquid state when she is summoned to perform. When asked to light up she produces a radiant white light that resembles daylight of varying intensities (see commands below). She may seem nearly indestructible, but she does have her limits (see stats below). She must be paired or partnered with a character before she can be commanded. The wizard or sorcerer who created her has these commands and rarely part with them. Each Ignis Signum has a different set of partnering commands.

Commands
Light – Lux (Lukes) (Globe of light, 15’ Radius)
Bright – Lucida (Loo-Cheeda) (Globe of light, 30’ Radius)
Blind – cæcus (Cy-Coosa) (Globe of light, 50’ Radis, blinds anyone within 20’ radius)
Stay – Manere (Ma-Nayrde) (Stays within 20’ of her partner)
Far – Procul (Pro-Coola) (Flies out to 50’)
Guard – praesidium (Pry-Zeedium) (Blind mode that directs a cone of light at foes)
Attack – Impetum (Eem-Pay-Tume) (Attacks one creature as directed)
Come – Venire (Ven-Earday) (Returns to her partner and hoovers above their head)
Sleep – Dormeo (Door-May-o) (Returns to her partner and goes to sleep)

Attributes
Size: 1”
AC: 21 (9 +4 DEX +8 Natural)
HP: 16
Attributes: STR 1 (-3), DEX 19 (+4), CON --, WIS --, CHA 5 (-3)

Attack Description
The pixie is 1” tall so her ability to effectively attack is limited. She will shine in Blind mode while accosting the opponents face. She carries a little sword which she uses to stab her victims, causing a severe stinging sensation. She will also grab any loose pieces of skin like eyelids, lips, ears, and nose pulling as hard as she can at severe angles. If she can, she will get inside her opponents mouth and stab profusely until they can spit her out, if they are able. She will continue to accost her victim until recalled.

Hello! This all sounds great. Thanks, Antman! On the topic of NPCs staying / departing, I like them all, really, because each one brings some awesome story opportunities and plenty of color. I will say that I feel that, regarding NPCs, less is more. Keeping one, two, or three NPCs in the party makes it easier to dig into their characters more and form stronger bonds. So I am all in favor of cutting the overall number of NPCs in the party. As to who to cut and who to keep, that's a hard decision. I think it's been demonstrated that each of these NPCs are thought-out / interesting / just plain fun. So I don't think I have a preference. Of those that depart, who knows? Wouldn't be surprised if we see them again down the road.

Also like the idea of hitting L1. : ) I think that sometime before we return to the wizard would probably be about right, at least based upon the fact that our initial task will have come to a conclusion. : )

New players sounds good, too. I think the turnover for a game like this is usually high. Not because of anything with the game, but more because player's needs can differ so much. Returning to town, of course, would give plenty of opportunities in this regard. I suppose, in a sandbox like this, it is even possible that our group will disband and go its separate ways. Though I, for one, would prefer to stay with the group.

Yeah, 5 - 8 players or so is probably the sweet spot. 3-4 is okay. I'd probably suggest moving character sheets of departed players to another section. (Maybe the thread where the NPCs are kept?) I wouldn't delete them - because you never know if they might one day return. But in the meanwhile, it keeps the characters who are on board more accessible with a minimum of scrolling required.

Thanks Sol,

I appreciate your input. I feel the same way about pretty much everything you said. I have always tried to keep the players involved in the decision making process, mainly out of courtesy, but also so that the game is going in a direction they will feel comfortable with and enjoy.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

I made a major update to the Spoils of War! thread, specifically XP. Give it a look see and update your character sheet XP accordingly. If you feel I have made an error please feel free to argue your case. I try to be fair about it and ill entertain any argument you have.

Eddistone Point I
(6) Short Swords (mostly rusty) (on the wagon)
(3) Elven Long Knives (1d4/1d6/1d8) Excellent condition (Caiden, Seeker, ???[/ ooc]) (Gorthak could dual wield the last two unless he doesn't want them or others do.)
(1) Suit of Chanimail (from Ungerd, smells a bit) (Gorthak)
(1) Bastard Sword (1d8/1d10/1d12) Good condition (???)
(1) Ring: From Ungerd, +3 Ring of Protection (Zirus)
(1) Ring: From one of the climbing Orcs, +2 ring of Protection (Seeker)
(1) Large Belt Pouch (27 gp, 42 sp) (Zirus 5 gp, ???)

Made a change to this listing, Seeker had grabbed the +2 ring, and I believed the large belt pouch of gold was split amongst everyone?

well what do you expect with a person going around saying call me seeker. When he's tracking someone or something down I'm gonna state that Seeker is Seeking. :P
