Gyb
Gyb looks pointedly at his bandaged wounds and his torn and bloody clothing. Then he looks at Lady LeNore. "Killed Gyb? Yes, maybe".
"Gyb is happy to accept dinner though. Many thanks".

Stobart
He continues to watch the approaching elf.
The cleric seems relieved to finally be at the keep. He turns and looks at the approaching elf before speaking to Lady Lenore "Perhaps your are right my lady. The events of this day and my brush with death have left me a little shaken. I apologise for my words earlier and I would be honoured to have dinner with you."OGRE MAGE wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 6:32 pm Returning Party
Running along now to avoid contact with the obviously dangerous fellow waving at them from behind, the group arrives outside the gates of the Keep just before supper time.
They spot Sabine at her position in between the open portcullis and the gated entrance beyond the guard post.
When they look back, the elf they saw earlier is still coming towards them. Renna notices a look of concern and confusion on the male elfs face as he draws closer.
Lady LeNore shakes her head in shame. "He doesn't look dangerous to me. Would it have killed us to wait and see what he had to say? Either way.....I am glad you trusted me enough to get me back safely at least. Can I offer any of you dinner for your trouble? My treat, of course."
He continues to watch the approaching elf.

Meinhardt winces in alarm at the pealing of the bell. "Cobb is right, but the other exit isn't safe, either."
"We have to push through this zombie!" He rushes forward, attempting to lance the zombie with his staff from behind Rida and Loyn. His goal is to knock it back or off balance, not necessary cause any damage.

+2 for charging, if applicable.

"Mi'lady, yes I would happily share a meal."
Keya still is on guard, but has not had a great meal in almost a week.

Ithrandir
The blond elf, clad in chainmail, with a longsword and a thick, worn tome hanging from his belt by a chain, approaches the group of adventurers and greets them again. This time not only with gestures, but with his voice.
"Well met. My name is Ithrandir. My traveling companion here, Owain," he gestures to the human beside him, "and I are on a journey. The reason? Nothing you haven't heard before, probably: the classic mercenary work so needed in the Borderlands. As risky as it is well-paid.
And you? May I ask your names? You seem like the kind of people I could rub shoulders with around here. Is it true that one can make a good living here with sweat and sword?"

Magdal
Magdal is relieved to find out they aren't bandits, or at least don't appear to be. She lowers her bow and returns the arrow to her quiver. "Sorry for the unfriendly greeting earlier. We were afraid you might be bandits." She removes her gloves and offers her hand, "I am Magdal Haldeene of Longspear." |She grins at each of the newcomers, "You'll find no lack of employment in these parts. It seems overrun with unsavory sorts."

"Gyb", says Gyb, with a slight bow. "Good living? From what Gyb has seen so far, no. But Gyb the Meager needs little. Just Flarnaghan's wishes."
"Today was a good day though, Gyb thinks. With a new sword, next time will be better. Flarlanghn says this."

Renna wonder how a former prisoner has any coins to buy dinner for others. Liking her story less and less she says "I am going to be waiting here for a few minutes." Renna will wait at the guard station to greet her kins-men.

Stobart nods at the two newcomers "I am Stobart Galt, cleric of Flarnaghan. Indeed, we can ran into some bandits, and barely survived with our lives."

Back To The Keep
Back Again
Early Evening, Clear
Returning Party
The former bandit thanks the group for not killing him as he takes his leave, writing his name into Sabine's log book before entering the Keep free of any dangerous weapons.
Lady LeNore smiles proudly at everyone who agrees to dine with her. "Dinner it is, then! I will have the finest table reserved at the Cat for our group. And I will have a very special guest accompanying me as well. Special to me, anyway." She waits patiently for a moment in case anyone has more they would like to say in return.
While Renna waits to speak with her elf kin, the others warmly welcome him to the area. This new elf, introducing himself as Ithrandir, has a pleasant demeanor as he inquires about any possible work in these parts. The group regales him with tales of opportunity, most of them knowing first hand now all the predicaments currently brewing nearby.
As Sabine and her guard check everyone over for weapons, making sure they are either tied off or checked in at the gate, the woman welcomes all the familiar faces home again. "So dinner at the One-Eyed Cat tonight then? That should be fun. Do any of you have intentions for the morrow?"
If anyone has plans for what they want to do now that you've returned from the caves, I would be very interested in hearing about them. In case you forgot, you can find the locations that have been investigated so far here: viewforum.php?f=1468

Still At The Caves
Still fighting to remain conscious after inhaling deadly smoke, all Crabgrass can do is stick his face through the head hole niche so he can continue taking in breathable air. He notices two things as he waits for the flames to die down. Though he doesn't see anyone outside the cave, he can hear a distant bell ringing, as if a master were calling for his servant. The second thing he notices is that the voices chanting spells at him from the hallway earlier have also stopped. The fire in the guard room behind him begins to abate, but it will probably take another minute or two before it might be safe enough to pass through the area again.
As he claims aloud that he isn't staying inside here anymore, Bugs actually moves deeper into the cave, all alone now, where he can keep an eye on the room where he lost the treasure chest filled with coins earlier.
Hearing the warning bells loud and clear, Cobb doesn't need to be told to get as far away from these caves as he can. He follows Mienhardt outside as the Mage tries to backup the fighters, poking at the lone bell ringing zombie from the back ranks with minimal success. Again Loyn and Rida are unable to contact the undead guard, missing the slow moving adversary as it rings the bell in its hand even more.
Cobb moves in behind his friend Loyn, swinging his sword hard to separate the zombies forearm from the rest of its body. As the limb and the bell clang down the stone cliff to the ground 25 feet below, the entire group hears commotion coming from the next cave down this ledge. Looking that way, dark smoke can be seen pouring from one of the niches in the wall where all the severed heads were positioned.

Itrhandir
The elven spellsword smiles and bows his head slightly in response.
"Well, it’s nice meeting you all. Good to know there’s plenty of work here. If you’ll have me, I’d be glad to lend my sword and magical knowledge to the group.
I’m not sure if I should join you for dinner, though. I’d certainly welcome something to eat, but it seems you’ve been invited as a reward for something I wasn’t part of. It would be rude of me to join uninvited.
Bandits, you say? I was lucky not to run into any.
Who’s Gyb?"

Crabgrass: mace attack: [1d20]=2 damage [1d6]=6
Figures one more round in the alcove as the fire subsides, then he has to exit, not wanting the bandits to gang up on him. He feebly wafts his mace through the thinning smoke, then with all the guile and finesse he can muster, tries to run out the cave exit.
Crabgrass: Dexterity 6 vs check [1d20]=12 vs any dodging or skill check.

Meinhardt stares in alarm at the dark smoke billowing from the other cave entrance. He thought it quite unlikely Crabgrass is still alive ...
Seeing as the lone zombie was succinctly disarmed, he then turns to holler down the passage. "Bugs! There's a fire in the other cave. We need to get out of here!"

Stobart hands his staff to Sabine.
"I am not sure what I will do next, this day has left me a little shaken. Our group found the bandits lair and were captured. We would have ended up dead if not for our friends in the other group who arrived just in time. Those of us injured escorted the lady home while the rest stayed to explore. Is there someone we should report to to give an account of the bandits?"
