Calen sighs, the ambush has been foiled. He then bursts through the forest towards the camp, charging the nearest solider. He swings his Halberd.
Halberd(Specialized): [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10, Damage: S/M[1d10+5] = 8+5 = 13, L[1d12+5] = 3+5 = 8
Freki takes the sudden movement as the go sign and quickly charges the nearest elf.
Calen's Wolf: (HP 16, AC 7) To Hit: [1d20] = 9, Damage: [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5
Base roll of 9 for both of them? This battle is going to hurt....

Garrett aims and fires off two arrows at one of the shadow figures seen easier by the fire light picking out one with pointier ears.
Long Bow Arrow 1[1d20 +3] = 20+3 = 23 Arrow 2[1d20 +3] = 10+3 = 13 Dmg 1[1d6] = 4 Dmg 2[1d6] = 2
after firing two shots he will duck down and hand Blab of the 9 daggers he kept for himself.

Titus charges at whoever is closest amongst the enemy, and attacks with his spear.

Baruch then moves closer to Svent, to help cover him. If there is allowed time, Baruch will also cast a Protection from Evil on Svent. If coming up close to a foe, Baruch will attack said foe. If a situation presents several foes both human and elves, Baruch will go for the human, as he has very mixed feelings about fighting his own (elven-)kindSvent is 80 feet from the elves, Baruch is 110 feet from the elves

Montego
What in the hells just happened?
Is Svent in Montego's bow range?
With an arrow somehow already knocked, Mo shoots off a volley of his magical arrows at the nearest enemy he can see. Preferably one of these evil elves that caused all the trouble for us by foiling our plan of stealth.
Bow shot with +1 arrows [1d20 +4] = 12+4 = 16 Damage [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6
Bow shot with +1 arrows [1d20 +4] = 13+4 = 17 Damage [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
EDIT: I forgot to add the +1 for the bless spell
I hope there is a battle plan map layout coming for this encounter. This is going to get messy!

Chaos By the Bonfire - RD1
When we last left our heroes an ambush failed. The result? A night fight near a bonfire.
Party is blessed and has high ground -- +2 to hit.
Svent's magic caused an elf great pain and catalyzed the battle.
Men yell and clatter equipment. Some men can be seen on the wagons -- they attempt to peer beyond the fire light (40 FT illumination). Others flash in and out of the light. Some make the fire larger by adding dry fuel.
Baruch creeps up to Svent and casts "Protection from Evil".Svent casts "Shield".
Garrett and Montego launch arrows. Garrett's arrow strikes with a deep thud. One of the 4 elfish figures goes down! Garrets 2nd arrow also finds flesh and provokes a scream of pain.
Montego's arrows also score hits. The 1st arrow drops a 2nd elf and the second arrow provokes yet another scream of pain.
Agent Blab, now armed, disappears into the woods. He moves north/east, toward the soldiers and the road.
Titus, Calen, Freki and Sanu begin to rush forward like a kick coverage team in American Football.
The elves see the approach and retreat into the firelight. If the attack is pressed the combatants will be exposed to the light and the other soldiers. See Map
Lanterns are being lit by soldiers!
Elfs spend turn retreating into light.. Movement would have only permitted Freki to attack BEYOND elf position -- so I have Freki in step with others.
The Map fails to show where BLAB went

Re: Queen Regeina's Ethical Philosophers Depart.
Garrett reloads an arrow amd moves up about half distance to the rushers and takes aim at a figure near the bonfire.

Svent looks to Baruch in a look of thanks. "I'm out of spells and have no ranged weapons so shall we move in or stay here."

Re: Queen Regeina's Ethical Philosophers Depart.
Montego resists the urge to put an arrow into one of our own and instead sprints directly forward to attempt to HELP his comrades. He will move far enough to where he can still get a bow shot off this round. (1/2 movement? I'm not sure how you figure this) He shoots at any elves he still sees or any other "leader" types.
Attack w/ Bow [1d20+3] = 4+3 = 7 Damage [1d6] = 3 [1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13 Damage [1d6] = 6 He seems very frustrated.

Calen will advance, meeting the first person with a swing of his Halberd.
Halberd(Specialized): [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16, Damage: S/M[1d10+5] = 9+5 = 14, L[1d12+5] = 9+5 = 14
Freki heads north west to flank any surprised people as they look to where the combat is.
Calen's Wolf: (HP 16, AC 7) To Hit: [1d20] = 3, Damage: [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2
well... Freki may be drunk.

Baruch to Svent: "Lay low, bro', and have faith. Garrett & Montego will cover you" then dashes as stealthily as possible up to join Calen. If combat with an elf occurs, Baruch will at first just parry, for as long as possible, having big moral issues about killing his own kind. If combat with a human occurs, however, Baruch goes all in, with the Mysterious Mallet of MagogSvent looks to Baruch in a look of thanks. Feeling that he has just been spoken to by some Deus ex Machina, Baruch follows the divine hint and enters the melee by the fire: "Ichthyocoprolites and infidels - take this thump!"

Chaos By the Bonfire - RD2
As the battle unfolds, Garrett and Montego feel good about their situations. They are masked by the dark and can see targets illuminated by the fire. For them it is a turkey shoot. But that changes in round 3 -- bodies will be jumbled and targeting will become more risky.
Montego moves closer on the left flank. He spots a soldier on the very edge of the fire light. The man is about to engage Calen's wolf, Freki.
Montego's 1st arrow is off mark and strikes an ox. But the 2nd hits the soldier, who blurts out in pain, Oh shit! That soldier retreats into the darkness with Freki giving chase.
Garrett secures the rear, right flank. He fires twice. Both his arrows clang off of chain mail and shields.
Svent remains under cover, his spells spent.
Freki has chased a wounded soldier down the hill and both are currently out of sight.
Calen enters the firelight with Sanu, Baruch and Titus and the 4 men begin to spill blood.
Calen's new halberd is effective (+1 enchantment). The grumpy warrior quickly dispatches two soldiers who approach to meet him in the firelight. The left flank is now wide open, only for a moment.
Three soldiers rush Calen and attack with long swords. Calen parries all but one blow (-4hp).
Baruch emerges from the deep woods, locates an enemy, and slays a soldier in his foot prints (+1 hammer). Two soldiers fill the dead man's gap and counter attack the noble priest to no effect. Baruch stands strong.
Sanu enters the firelight, swings hard and loses the grip on his obsidian axe. It is 10 feet away and he must either collect it or fight with an obsidian dagger, with no proficiency, in the next round. First, he has to fend off 2 attackers. One soldier's blow misses but the 2nd pierces Sanu's belly badly. The Barbarian remains on his feet but bleeds profusely. (-14).
Titus is on fire, in a manner of speaking. Once he enters the fight, the air becomes amist with blood (Obsidian spear +1, will not break). He quickly kills two soldiers, much as Calen did.
Three others rush in to fill the gap and attempt to abuse the warrior of Westmarch. Titus dodges a deadly blow only to move into another (-8) . A third attack is deflected by the Titus Shield.
Now both sides are bloodied
Garrett glimpses a man in plain cloths -- the one who Blab was seeking out. That man disappears into the darkness behind an Ox cart. To the right of the Ox cart, Blab looks for the same man. He is not finding him. Blab remains visible for a moment than fades into the shadows cast by the fire.
The two remaining Elves hold fire and do not engage in Melee -- yet. They are poised with their bows.
Gonna award the 2 attacks this time to keep it simple -- will be more clear about rounds in the future
