Revisiting The Caves: Pt.2
Re: Revisiting The Caves: Pt.2
Loyn-Dwarf fighter
”Moradin give me strength!!!” He rushes toward one of the zombies. If he can get to it, he’ll attempt pushing it from behind the knees with the handle of his axe, attempting to knock it over the edge.

Pimlan hopes everyone thinking they are not bandits is correct and continues on with the group.

Back To The Keep

Late Afternoon, Clear
Returning Party
Both the Lady and the bandit shake their heads at Crobeus, unsure who these oncoming folks are.
Renna politely returns the wave from her kinsmen and hears the other elf shouting something back to her over the long distance, though she cannot hear exactly what was said.
As the others in the group decide to press onward anyway, the pair coming towards them starts to jog now, likely trying to catch up with them for whatever reason.
The path leading up to the Keep still lies a good distance ahead, but the sounds and smells from within are already plenty inviting, even from afar.

INSIDE
If a quick exit was the initial plan of Crabgrass, he might need to shrink himself down before heading out the head hole. But with his magic completely spent, he decides to build on his back-up plan instead. Tossing a second set of tied flasks into the blaze in the center of the room most certainly gets the attention of the robed humans. The one closest to the exit steps back away from the growing blaze and retreats out of the Half-Elfs line of sight. As the second pair of oil flasks are tossed, hitting the burning figure already caught in the inferno, the robed figure in the corner also bolts outside the room before they too become engulfed in the conflagration.
Already covered in flames when the second flasks break, the figure caught earlier in the direct hit slumps to the floor screaming in pain before that sound suddenly dies out as he expires. The table, chairs, and the magic cards scattered around the room all burn, causing a good deal of acrid smoke to accumulate at the ceiling of the room. This smoke wafts in the direction of Crabgrass, still in his alcove, as the draft coming through the open head niche is its nearest ventable location. Please give me a D20 Constitution check.
While there is no reply to his lies, Crabgrass does hear the female voice chanting out some spell from the only hallway leading from this room. Except for the very corners, the entire interior is completely engulfed in flame now. Then the thick dark carpet covering the secret alcove begins to burn too.
Haldric knows how to handle these undead abominations, but his quick call on Dumathoin to send them scattering has no effect.
Loyn knows they must act fast, so he bum rushes the first zombie, hitting it in the knees with his ax blade and tripping it up before it can counter. The momentum of this unorthodox attack sends the surprised monster skittering over the edge of the ledge where it falls the 25 feet to its second death.
Rida moves outside quickly as well, but his attack on the remaining zombie is inaccurate, as is the beasts counter attack on the fighter.
Meinhardt takes a moment to look up both passages that line this entryway, seeing no threats coming towards them from either direction. With their limited light sources, he will need to explore deeper within to learn what lies ahead. Cobb stays with the wizard, since there is little room for fighting out on the precarious ledge.

Crabgrass: Constitution check vs 15 [1d20]=16
Chokes on the smoke as it fills the alcove and his lungs. He had thought of sticking his head outside the niche for a breather, hoping no one takes a swipe at him doing so. The fire might burn for a while so he has to act fast, cutting the curtain down to wrap around him as an extra protective layer should he need run through any blaze to exit.
Is she trying to raise the dead? Put a hex upon him? He readies his holy symbols to implore divine aid should he need.

Gyb points at the Keep and shouts back. "The Keep! The Keep is a good place to meet!"
To the others he says: "Good folk will have no fear to follow us. At the gate we can wait for them. Tricksters will keep a distance".
He keeps walking.

Returning Party
Gyb makes a suggestion that the others actually comprehend, getting a head nod from the former bandit with them.
Running along now to avoid contact with the obviously dangerous fellow waving at them from behind, the group arrives outside the gates of the Keep just before supper time.
They spot Sabine at her position in between the open portcullis and the gated entrance beyond the guard post.
When they look back, the elf they saw earlier is still coming towards them. Renna notices a look of concern and confusion on the male elfs face as he draws closer.
Lady LeNore shakes her head in shame. "He doesn't look dangerous to me. Would it have killed us to wait and see what he had to say? Either way.....I am glad you trusted me enough to get me back safely at least. Can I offer any of you dinner for your trouble? My treat, of course."

At The Caves
Crabgrass pulls the heavy curtain off the wall to wrap around himself just as he runs out of breathable oxygen. Before he can get to the head niche for a breath of fresh air, he stumbles and falls in the alcove, choking and coughing on the toxic smoke enveloping him. From that precarious vantage point, there is little he can do to prevent the robed figures from casting their magicks upon him. Can I get a save vs. Spells, please?
As quickly as Loyn dispatched the first monster outside the cave mouth, this second zombie suddenly seems invincible after every attempt to harm the thing fails. When it is still standing after multiple attacks against it, for some reason, it does not return the attacks, instead pulling out a shiny bronze hand bell from its rotting clothing. As the combatants prepare to attack it again, it starts ringing the bell loudly, the shrill tone echoing out through the open ravine behind it.
Cobb's eyes widen at the sound of the ringing bell. "We will be found out now for sure! Shall we make a run for it?"

He nods grimly at Cobb. "Definitely not staying here now. Stay with them and watch the corridors with Meinhart. I'm going a bit north to keep an eye out there."
"Keep at it guys! Silence that bell!" Bugs backtracks deeper into the complex, stopping at the right-angle intersection so that he can see the corridor leading back to the secret room.
