Avaala the Grey
Avaala tries looking in the direction the Shaman is looking, to see what is confusing it.

Wes
The druid advances a little further towards the massive beast, then tosses the coil of rope on the ground between the the two of them. Careful to avoid stepping on it himself, he takes a few more steps, then begins to bang on his shield with his club.
"HEY! OVER HERE BIG UGLY! I'M THE ONE YOU WANT! COME TAKE A SWIPE AT ME!"

Grimm gently pats the unconscious ranger on the shoulder.
"You should be fine, buddy. Take a rest now." He takes his crossbow again, but won't shot at the beast for fear of hitting one of his friends. Suddenly conscious of the jungle behind him, the dwarf decides to take this moment of 'calmness' on his side of the clearing to take a look around him, into the thick of the jungle and up into the foliage.
This campaign definitely needs more clerics

Luther
Luther sidesteps North, so he and Wes are not lined up. Still maintaining defenses and being loud and insulting.

The Obelisk
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Wes tosses down the
gauntlet rope he has enchanted, hoping to draw the attention of the monster by making noise and shouting. Instead of complying outright, the jungle troll takes another swipe at the retreating Luther instead, raking him with a wicked claw attack before then turning towards the druid.
7 dam The blow knocks the already injured bear-man to the cold stone, quite unconscious and bleeding badly.
Seeing this, Chauncey has no other alternative. With his spells depleted, he points his wand at the creature, loudly shouting the words
"One Dress" again. The winds in the area start to pick up around the monster, but it suffers no ill effect from them....yet.
Grimm stands guard over Cealwyn, keeping an eye on the jungle around them. The dwarf doesn't see any more danger in his area, but does notice that the orange flying lizard still hovers overhead, basking in the beam of magical light in the sky given off from the glowing obelisk.
Avaala and Treasure look back at the squirming slizard shaman to the south, wondering what might be causing his sudden outcry. The wizard sees nothing, though his strange dragon gasps loudly at something.

Avaala the Grey
"Okay," Avaala thinks to Treasure, looking at the Shaman. "So there is not much to be done there." The mage turns his head towards the open portal in the Obelisk. "What do you think? Is that something we should experience? The Dark Ether? I'll defer to your history and knowledge." He considers that the portal is likely to stay open only as long as the candle burns.

Wes
"Somebody help Luther!" calls out Wes, as he sees the ranger fall. He shouts at the beast again to attract it's attention, and pitches his other club at it for added effect.
"OVER HERE! OVER HERE! I"VE GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU!"
Club (THAC0 18) [1d20] = 8; S/M [1d6] = 1; L [1d3] = 3

Avaala the Grey
His musings disrupted by Wes' alarm, Avaala looks over to the fallen Ranger.
OK, the Mage is not joining the ranks of the dead and/or dismembered by tangling with this Troll. If it seems intent on doing more damage to Luther's body, Avaala is not the one to stop it. If it seems to be moving on and looking for its next victim...
Avaala moves fast, closing on Luther and bandaging his wounds. If Luther has any bandages on him, the Mage will use those. If not, Luther's clothes are stripped into bandages and rolled into service.
"Well," he thinks to Treasure. "That's three down. I am not throwing our lives away foolishly. There may be a grand mystery here, but this is not the way to solve it. Not everything in the world is there to be stolen. Some things are there to be asked for, and the more I hear the slizards speak, the more I believe this entire venture was done badly."

Grimm stands his ground and keeps staring at the situation, not quite understanding how some of his companions have the cold blood of staying looking at an obelisk while a troll is crushing the others. Why they just don't withdraw?
He looks at Cealwyn and tries to hide him in the bushes as best he can, in case he has to run for it and leave the ranger behind.

Filling The Cage?
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
As the winds continue to grow around the obelisk, foiling the druids club toss, and extinguishing the candle in the alcove, the jungle troll is happy to oblige Wes and his desire to be its next victim, leaving Luther to bleed out while bounding closer to the noisy druid. When it steps onto his newly enchanted rope, the item starts to entwine around its massive feet and legs, cinching tightly and nearly causing the huge monster to topple over onto the half-elf. It roars with anger as it begins tearing at the magical bonds instead of killing anyone else.
Hoping to answer his master by action, Treasure flits through the dark opening in the obelisk, flying around in this "dark ether" for a moment and reporting out loud.
"There is nothing to be afraid of in here. This darkness cant hurt you, it's the other darkness you need to worry about."
Before moving over to aid the bleeding Luther, Avaala sees the slizard shaman take a futile swing with his now naked staff at something unseen which he clearly doesn't connect with. The shaman then starts to scream out in his own language that only Avaala can understand.
At this urging, all of the slizards suddenly stop chanting, stand upright again, pull out their primitive stone weapons, and charge at any conscious party members, including Grimm who is still off hiding with Cealwyn in the bushes. Wes is thumped by one stone hammer,
3 dam as is Chauncey,
5 dam while the others rush in too. Avaala in his current disguise is the only one they seem to leave alone, for now. He uses this free time to bind the rangers wounds, experiencing a strange feeling that he isn't the only one hovering over the downed man. The shaman in orange moves up onto the stone platform, heading straight for the opening in the obelisk where Treasure is currently investigating.
Bonnie's whereabouts remain unknown.

Avaala the Grey
"Treasure," Avaala thinks, "We need to get Luther out of here. They have left us an opening if we head due east. And that will let us avoid the Troll and the Shaman. Now if we can just not look too suspicious dragging him off." Avaala begins dragging Luther to the east, although not directly towards Grimm and Cealwyn. Noting that Treasure is still inside the Obelisk, he adds, "We'll have to investigate that more later. Right now, we're too beat up as a group to push this. Come on."

Grimm runs away into the jungle.
If the slizards continue their pursuit even that far from the obelisk AND gain ground, he'll try to climb up a tall tree in the next round.

Wes
The druid grins when he sees the troll go down. He's about to let out a shout of praise to Obad Hai when the slizards turn on him.
With one slizard, Wes might stay to trade blows. But three of them, with perhaps more coming to surround him? He spots a gap between his opponents and turns to run for the trees.

Since you are surrounded by trees, can I get a more specific direction, please?

Sorry. The ones to the left. There's too many slizards in front of him. And the ones at the top and bottom are too far away. He wants to get to the trees as fast as he can.

Frying Pan, Meet Fire
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
The disguised Avaala starts dragging Luther towards the east, communicating with his dragon mentally that he should exit the obelisk and flee with the others. The shaman has different ideas, of course, seemingly quite interested in what might be inside the opening. He moves forward, initially blocking the exit for Treasure as he looks inside, before then disappearing inside altogether.
The winds around the obelisk continue to grow into nearly tornadic levels before eventually subsiding again slowly. The wind is so strong that it blows the already extinguished candle from inside the alcove, dropping harmlessly to the stone platform. This of course causes the portal on the side of the obelisk to suddenly disappear again, essentially trapping Treasure and the Shaman inside the tall, clear structure. All communication between the mage and his familiar, mental or verbal, is suddenly cut off as well.
The four slizards chasing Grimm into the jungle each stop at the edge of their clearing, apparently reluctant to move in any further. Two of them stay there, listening for the dwarf who is already hurriedly moving further into the foliage. The other pair pick up the unconscious and badly wounded Cealwyn and begin dragging him back towards the hanging cage with the strange hole below it. One of them addresses Avaala as they pass each other.
As the huge jungle troll continues ripping away at his magical bonds, Chauncey and Wes continue to get pulverized by the stone hammers and axes of the primitive slizard men.
6/8 dam Wes decides that there is nothing more they can do here now that the tides have turned, so he takes off running for the tree line as the scaly humanoids continue to pound at him as he flees. He is hit with another blow to the back of his head as he departs, trying to stay out ahead of the trio chasing him.
5 dam The mage cries out as he is eventually overtaken by their numbers, knocked to the ground and bleeding profusely.
"NO!! STOP!!! What just happened? I thought we had an understanding with them? What did we do wrong to cause this sudden attack?" Again....Bonnie is nowhere to be seen.
Paul's dead body is also dragged towards the cage area, his possessions being picked through and separated as they move along. Any slizards near the obelisk suddenly realize that despite the intruders sudden departure, their leader has also suddenly gone missing as well. They don't seem to appreciate this sudden development either.

Avaala the Grey
Unsure of the exact capabilities of his magical hat, Avaala looks up, shakily, and gives the Slizard that spoke to him what he hopes is a 'dazed and confused' look. Letting go of Luther with one of his hands for a moment, he takes that hand and holds it to the back of his head, indicating that he took a shot to the head. He looks around, again hoping that he looks badly confused, and acts as though he needs guidance.
