Earc, nursing a pint of dark foamy stout next to Olaf, grows anxious, not as Winnie speaks of his slaughter of gnolls, but of secret entrances into the tower and quietly whispers a hope that she is obtuse about the hidden location.
He likewise sighs in relief when she does not mention the important details. "Yes, let them believe they have to speak to squirrels and mice to find it..."
1 pint of stout - 1sp
1 week of good meals - 3g 5s
1 week of private room lodging - 7sp (he travels to his tower to drop off the lab supplies and ink and check on the guards before heading back to town)

Earc takes the opportunity to let the old man know they aren't yet done. Speaking loudly, he adds, "Some of us will be heading back in a week's time to continue with the removal of the goblins. We will likely need a few additional hands, if anyone is looking for work."

Listens to Winnie's song a little red faced. She leans over to Winnie when she returns to the table. "We need to leave for the grove. We've been here too long. We could go today. Report to the Mother what we saw... and... other things..." she looks down and away.

Well rested and ready to head back to Guhra's Tower, Earc sits at his usual table, nursing a pint of stout, waiting to see who shows up from his original party. He knows Isaachar will likely not return, having spoken previously about a short sabbatical for Gwanwen.
He engages in casual conversation with nearby locals, letting them know he is preparing to head back some time soon. That is just to let people know about the expedition; he doesn't want casual observers to know their exact marching plans, so he speaks somewhat vaguely.

Olaf joins Earc at his table.
"We be needing another holy man," he says. "Ye know any?"

Earc shakes his head, "No, but I agree. We do need one. I suppose we can always check with the Chapel of Baudh and see if we can hire someone to join us."
OOC: Looks like Florin might be available? Or is he out with another group right now?

My records are still crap on this. Earc has Friendly status with the church, correct? If not, he can ingratiate himself by permanently lighting their candelabras.
Recruiting [2d6] = 5 [2d6] = 8 [2d6] = 8 [2d6] = 9 [2d6] = 4
Earc inquires about
Florian at the Baudh Chapel.
"Ah, yes... a dangerous tower. Our previous priests have not fared well there, but the Archbishop wishes us to support the Archduke's desire to resolve that problem. Do you have enough strength in your party to face it?" After you answer to the affirmative, he agrees to come.
A full share of treasure (of which he donates half to Baudh) and a half-share of XP. Earc was allowed three rolls - he can recruit another guardsman to come with Florian from the church if he likes.

July 28th
Issachar, picks his canines with a large toothpick and downs a frothy beer. "May the grace of Gwanwen bless the hops more this year Mr Hyde."
The priest is later seen leaving town by the West gate to trek into the farmlands and conduct his seasonal itinerant sacrifices with the local redneck hillbillies and Trombleys farm.

Er... I can't remember, either. I think Earc might only be friendly with the dwarves so far. But he'll happily permanently light the candelabras at the Baudh Chapel to get in favor with them, as well.
Hiring an additional might depend on whether or not we have the two dwarves again? Is that something Olaf can check on? But maybe not a bad idea to hire another, anyway.
Let's go ahead and do that - I assume it would be Rowine. Who knows how many goblins there are or what else we might come across...

The dwarves already volunteered to return, as you've promised them the tower. (Those rolls are in the expedition thread.) You don't need to check for them.
Rowine is currently on the quest to Scatha. If you recruit someone they get another share, and I'll roll them up new.

Loathe to let Florin go out alone when the quest ahead has swallowed others of the faith, the Archbishop agrees to send along... Steve.

1st level, huh? Well, he can look after Pony anyway.

I'm guessing there's no way to say "Thanks, we're good?" A 1st-level fighter might require more care than he's worth. Especially for a share of treasure.

What level were the dwarven hirelings when they started? No worries, though. We'll put him to good use. Everyone has to earn their pay on the expedition.

Without looking it up, I think one was level 3 and the other level 2 (with low HP).
They may have leveled since.

The dwarfs were levels 3 and 1.
Winnie gets to hang with Pony. Don't give her job away, man!
Marullus, how much for a nice pair of boots and leggings for Winnie. (I only just remembered she walking around with sacks on her feet.)
Just make sure the level 1 fighter does in a fight and we don't need to worry about payment.
Only Florian has to be returned.

Earc nods after some thought and says,
"Sure we can use him. At the very least, he can watch Pony and allow Winnie to more fully participate in clearing out the goblins... if she comes along again."
