p.s. If Lars makes it back alive, he's got a reasonably good haul in hand so I'd say he's doing just fine as an adventurer It's never a glorious life...not at this level, anyway.

The woman utters one last cry of frustration and then rushes back over to the tree and melds with it.

Lars puts his hands up in mock surprise, looking to Orrin with a mischievous look. "That's all I wanted in the first place..."

Haha, that is true. He'll be up and about immediately now that the fast-and-furious action is done.

Wow, we should get back before Harrowing. Like I said: grab up what shinies you can, wake up Lug, and let's get back to town. Hopefully it's not far.

"Orrin can you get Lug up?" Lars doesn't dare go near him while he still has the torch in hand.
Lars will watch the tree for any signs of this witch.

When everybody finally looks ready to go, he'll grab a handful of loot and run like hell.

Orrin slaps Lug around to revive him. Once done, he'll make for the tree and start taking anything he can lay his hands on.

Between the two of them, they grab three shiny gemstones and a large handful of gold coins picked out from the moss. The armor that at first looked special is tarnished and only shiny at places from being washed clean of vegetation by recent rains.

Lug clambers to his feet and attempts to get as much of the oil off him as he can, but he will be a mild fire hazard to himself until he has the chance to really clean his gear.

Is the party continuing on its previous course--that is, out the far side of the clear from where they entered?

"Sorry for the ambush, big guy. No hard feelings?"

Orrin hands Lug a shiny as they leave the clearing.

"No worries, man. Not the first time I've been hit over the head because of a woman."

[Zorroroaster]

"It was almost the last!".

Orrin chuckles as they walk along. He calls out to Lars.

"Where to, thief? Let's get this lass back to Vaul. We've some stories to tell her when she wakes, no doubt."

"What did we get from that vixen, anyway? Other than a lump on my head?"

How's the weather? Has the rain stopped yet? Can we see the Finger to navigate by? When will someone in this world invent the compass?

Nobody's gone looking for a compass, yet...

The forest is still dense but the rain has petered out slightly. Since you're in a clearing, the Finger is visible just a bit to the right of where you entered the clearing--perhaps 15-20 degrees.

Still in the forest. So we're a ways out yet.
