Or it may all come to nothing, so I don't want to say exactly what's happening, but you all deserve to hear this sooner than later.

My posts may be erratic for the next two weeks.
I've applied for an exclusive technical school, and they have requested an in-person interview in Dallas.

Once I have the interview, and see how that goes, I'll know if they will accept me into their program. Classes will start early in September, so I will have to devote much more time to relocating. Summer will be too short.

I will keep you all posted.

What is FGU? Sounds interesting.

Fantasy Games Unlimited? Not sure about the other. Anything we can use to improve our characters? You won't let us use Skills & Powers or Combat & Tactics. But we'd have to level before anything would likely be use to us anyways

Fantasy Ground Unity, actually. It's a virtual tabletop interface (link embedded) I can use to play online in real time. It has licenses for many different rulesets, including 5e, Gurps, Traveller, Pathfinder... Too many to list! I can also use it to develop my worldbuilding in a more modular way that will help me to keep things organized better. It also has a LOT of tools to simplify some game mechanics, so I don't have to re-invent the wheel every time I want to write something 'new'.

I recently upgraded to the 'Ultimate' license, so other players only need to download the demo version to play when I host games as the GM.

What do you want? Seriously? You just routed a half dozen ghouls without even much effort in one round, no sweat. This (in this world anyway) should/would have other 'mere humans' abandoning villages for the undead hordes.... Maybe I'm just a bad gm. otoh, I fear doubling the number to force combat, because if gurusql ends up with a bad roll, 12 ghouls should be a tpk. And also, you're probably approximately correct, S&P/C&T wouldn't be much help for you yet at only 2nd level.
Back to FGU, I don't know if it incorporates either of those rulesets, or if they would be incorporated on a GM play-style level. I just know that the players I have going through this same scenario are very excited to play again Wednesday, and I'm looking forward to it as well.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't do the virtual gaming thing but it sounds interesting anyways. Your are a good DM, I like Conweena just as she is. I am enjoying this game quite a bit. Will it be cool to see her level up and get better, of course but I am more an old school player so don't need all sorts of special abilities to run a character.

The biggest problem I have with it now is my local limited internet speeds, which are capped by local dsl limitations.

I am on DSL too, not sure if it would be fast enough for VTT but works fine for pbp and looking stuff up which is most of my needs.

We may have gotten through it on a good roll, but they scare the heck out of me every time!

I can say the fear level is real for me.

It works, but sometimes my players need to wait a few minutes longer for map updates.
