Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"
Re: Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"
Luther
Luther barely breaks stride, changing direction to join the former slaves in destroying their attackers.
I'm not sure he can get to melee distance this round. IF so-
attack [1d20] = 11
broadsword [2d4] = 5
Luther roars a laugh of pure joy as he sees the slavers being killed.

Emancipation Time
It Is A Good Night To Die
The Camp Burned: Round 18
Starday, The 6th of Goodmonth
Evening, Hot, Muggy, Fiery
Lerrick cant see the men chasing her, nor can they see her. But they can her crashing through the bush, and she can hear them talking. "Hey! Does this seem weird to either of you? Like we're being led into a trap or something?" With that, Lerrick starts tearing through the jungle again, this time back towards the main battle, to see if she can help her friends.
Alordan is amazed to see the large group of brave natives charge in, ready to die in the name of freedom. This steels the badly injured ranger even more so he continues his attack on the invading smugglers, wounding another for his effort. The battered human is even more glad to see his friend Luther shouting out his battle cry as he joins the fight. A native storms in and clubs the injured smuggler in the head, killing him instantly.
Monocar grabs the prone body of Lightfinger as he takes off, ready to flee the area with Chauncey. The intellectually challenged fighter doesn't quite understand when the mage suddenly stops in his tracks and points his fire stick at the largest mass of invaders. The enlarged behemoth sets the Halfling down again, raises his swords, and shouts at the oncoming enemy. Talaris moves east to help the fallen natives as they are being slaughtered by the far better equipped pirates.
Though it seems a bit abnormal for Chauncey to actually care about others well being, his next action might be just what he needs to cause a turn in the battle. He aims his powerful wand for the third time, wondering if the information he received about it was really accurate. He shouts out the command word again and hears nothing but a weak fizzle and a slight pop. Thinking that he must have used up all of the incredible power already, the wizard almost puts the wand back in his robes. That's when the pea sized fireball shoots out of the end of the slender stick and explodes the corner of the closest drying barn in a blast of shock, fire, heat, and light. The fireball takes out several of the oncoming smugglers, along with one unsuspecting native that didn't know it was coming.
Lerrick breaks the tree line again and sees that the men chasing her have also retreated from the jungle. They smile at her wickedly, ready to charge in and finish her off for good. Their intentions are suddenly thwarted once the explosion goes off just a couple of dozen feet away from them. "Whoa!!! They got a wizard too? Whatta ya say we get the hells outta here? I aint frying for that ass hat Bing!!!"

“BRIGANDS, TAKE ESPECIAL NOTE! I WILL BURN YOU ALL IN MAGICAL FIRE!” shouts Chauncey, in his most intimidating, cliché wizardly intonation, thinking perhaps he will keep the depleted wand out to brandish it for effect. He then promptly scampers north to the fallen body of the stinky mage in the hopes his body may yet still yield up some magical trinkets, potions, amulets, notes on secret formulae or what have you...

Monocar
Looks torn and looks back and forth from Chauncy and the fight...
Inside his head:
Cherub: we should protect Lightfinger and Chauncey!
Imp: but there is a fight! Charge in and keep the pirates away from ChaCha and the hobbit! Best defense is a good offense!
Cherub: that isn't how this works...
Imp: I say fight! Who's with me?!
Id: rattles his cage and cheers!
Imp: Right! CHARGE!!!
Monocar shakes his head and gives a battle cry, charging south to the nearest pirate! He swings both swords down at the man!
Main Hand:

It Is A Good Night To Die
The Camp Burned: Round 19
Starday, The 6th of Goodmonth
Evening, Hot, Muggy, Fiery
Chauncey waves his wand around screaming about burning more people, but he quickly retreats again, still hoping he can find something left on his burnt nemesis. He goes through the badly burned remains of Snake-Eye, finding a single golden ring on one finger that survived his fiery blasts. The mage sees the final living ogre bumbling away along the cliff wall. The brute carries the injured smuggler that he stomped earlier along with him, screaming and kicking, trying to get away from a likely terrible and quick end to his life.
Luther is glad to see that the natives have amassed and are trying to help them do away with these slaving bastards. He cringes as a few more of the former slaves are easily cut down in front of him. Alordan cant put down the pirate closest to him, so the big bear steps up to cut him down for good.
Monocar finally succumbs to his desire to kill more of these men. He sets the unconscious thief down on the scorched ground again and charges towards Luther and Alordan. As he arrives, still flailing away with both hands at anyone who doesn't look familiar, he stumbles in the soot and lands flat on his face in front of the others.
Lerrick gets the jump on the men chasing her and heads straight back towards the others. She passes several of the native men and women still screaming out battle cries as they chase the smugglers back the way they came. Several more natives are brutally cut to shreds in front of her, but it is starting to look like the numbers of the natives are starting to best the better weapons of the pirates. The closest smugglers are eventually cut down by the mass of oncoming natives. The group near the river seems to be retreating as well. Now leaderless and outnumbered, several cries of panic and retreat rise above the normal noise as the smugglers rush back towards the river trail.

Lerrick scans the area, observing several slaughter bodies of villages and slavers around her. Looking to the north she sees the body of the thief. Without hesitation she runs to see if she can provide Light Finger first aid.

Alordan gathers strength from the unbelievable turn of the tide. He dashes east to continue to help battle the remaining pirates. He quickly considers whether it's better to eliminate them all or let a few live to return to tell of the tale of the uprising to Bing? Focus on the fight, he thinks, don't get distracted!

"Ha Haaaaa!!"
Chauncey holds up the golden ring in triumph, momentarily forgetting the sheer volume of magical trinkets surely sizzling and popping as they expire in the blazing hut to his side. Delighted, he stores it away in his pouch for further examination later.
He will then shuffle around the hut and eastward, noting that Lerrick is looking after their halfling associate, keeping an eye out for the unlikely instance of any smuggler not engaged in melee with a native. If such is the case, and there is no danger of skewering a native freedom fighter, he will defend himself with his few remaining darts: Otherwise, he will make his way to the opening of the final, non-flaming drying barn and step inside to examine this evidently priceless commodity that turns sailors into brigands...

Luther
Finally feeling the effects of his wounds, Luther trots toward the smugglers at the riverside, ready to assist the native freedmen if need be.
If you surrender, you might live through the night! he booms.

It Is A Good Night To Die
The Camp Burned: Round 20
Starday, The 6th of Goodmonth
Evening, Hot, Muggy, Fiery
The fighters hear the adequate wizard shout out over the noisy falls behind them, thankfully he sounds pleased this time instead of distressed. The mage is sure that he can smell burning parchment coming from the toppling shack next to him. Lots of burning parchment. And a few other things too. He watches as Lerrick rushes up to Lightfinger, keeping an eye out for any more intrusions.
Monocar, Luther, and Alordan happily join the feisty natives as they continue to run the smugglers out of the camp. A few more natives fall, but the smugglers don't seem interested in taking on an entire army, especially one with massive pissed off helpers, so they keep running. Who would have ever thought that rocks and sticks could out best leather and steel, but here it is, happening right in front of them. None of the groups fighters can find a target to strike, but they continue on with the chase all the same.
Talaris helps the injured natives as best he can in the darkness. Chauncey is about to go check on the rest of the buildings when he is stopped in his tracks by 5 of the battle crazed native people beginning to surround Lerrick. They move in quickly, aggressively motioning for the cleric to step away from the unconscious Halfling. They brandish their rocks and sticks, obviously ready to continue their fight with the nearly helpless mage and priest if they have to. For the first time since they met, Chauncey wishes Monocar was still close by.

Chauncey smiles and holds up his empty hands in the universal sign of “I mean you no harm.” He then, fairly certain none of these understandably riled up and confused natives will allow him to cast his language comprehension spell, points instead to his bandolier of remaining darts then to the dead form of the evil mage with the same distinctive darts protruding from his forehead. “I, Chauncey the Adequate, in a bit of ingenious planning well executed, have released you from the clutches of the stinky wizard! ...Oh, yes, and my friends also helped!” He indicates the form of Lightfinger on the ground, then mimes the undoing of neck collars. “He freed you! This one can heal you...um... tomorrow-ish. Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?”
Re: Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"
Lerrick looks at Chauncey trying to reason with the natives. She then turns to the natives around her and smiles in a non threatening peaceful way. We are here to help you. She repeats the saying in every language she knows: Common, gnome, gnoll, goblin, hobgoblin, orcish, elvish, and halfling anything that might help the natives understand.

Alordan continues towards the path with the freed slaves. He calls out a warning about the trip wire across the path in case it is still there. "Drive these bastards into the earth!" he snarls out. His fatigue, overwhelming tension and relief release in that curse as he hunts down those that would enslave the locals for profit.

The big Ranger sees that he's being left in the dust- even faster than the others, considering his armor. He stops running, and heads back toward where he left Chauncey. He's not hurrying, occasionally stopping to ensure a slaver's corpse is truly dead.

Emancipation!!!
It Is A Good Night To Be Alive
Starday, The 6th of Goodmonth
Evening, Hot, Muggy, Smokey
In just over 20 minutes of time, the pirate mob is totally bested and the camp is nearly completely destroyed by the party.
Alordan continues running along with the aggressive natives, shouting out warnings and other indistinguishable remarks as they enter the river trail. He is surprised at the speed and gall of these men and women, and he is glad to see that his trip wire doesn't affect any of them as they continue perusing their former captors. Even through the nearly pitch dark, they continue on with their chase. The human ranger has a hard time seeing much of anything once he enters the thick jungle trail again.
Monocar yells something about the cave and begins to bound off in that direction. Luther gives up the chase as well, ready to tip over from exhaustion any moment. He starts back towards the wizard and cleric, but he stops to check on the many fallen natives along the way. He finds 2 that are still breathing.
Chauncey and Lerrick do everything they can think of to calm the oncoming natives, but they either don't understand, or don't care to listen. They continue storming forward until they are close enough to get ahold of little Lightfinger. One of the natives picks up the Halfling's head and moves his face in very close. He shouts something to one of the other natives that sounds a bit like "puluseebagumba". Another native steps forward and puts something in his mouth, chewing frantically. Another takes out a small leather pouch and retrieves something from it.
All 5 of the natives kneel around Lightfinger, working frantically over him in the failing light of the nearby fires. They ignore Chauncey and Lerrick completely as they poke and prod the small thief. They do not attempt to initiate conversation and do not respond to you in any known language.
With the fight finally at its end, you start to see more women and children wandering into the shack area. Some of them are crying, others are quite animated. Several natives tend to their fallen kin scattered about, like Luther, checking to see if any remain alive.
