Markd acknowledges he cannot persuade the others, and he knows he has no leadership ability. That damned curse...

Ok, lets figure out how to do this. How much oil we got? and make sure we have things to prop open doors. Spikes or timber, anything. He'll look through the mess of items taken from the fallen Kellstrom.

4 flasks of oil. No spikes. 19 crossbow bolts.

Zhym, help an idiot out (OOC) with the puzzle you are seeing. If you get us started, maybe our characters can pull the rest of it together.

Well, this is why I was sort of suggesting going back to town, to get a PC who is more interested in puzzles. I've been using Olaf's general lack of intelligence and interest in puzzles as an excuse to skim over the puzzle stuff and not try to figure it out (it's not paying attention turned into role play!). But it seems like something's going on here. The procession to the gargoyles, the little 3D movie that plays out with the woman and the men, the writing on the door we can't decipher. I'm not sure what to make of it yet, but I think entering at dawn and leaving before dusk is a starting plan, considering the whole tomb seems to revolve around Baudh. Then maybe we should just watch the whole scene play out. But I'm not sure how much we can make of it without a Comprehend Languages.

Hmmm. I thought I replied last night. :?

Anyhow, this would be done "yesterday" or the night as Irving rests.

Captain Bremen
As the five adventurers sit around the campfire, Captain Bremen breaks the silence. The skeletons have likely reformed by now and the trapped-door reset. If we want to go to the room with the diamonds in it, we need to block up the skeleton door first, am I right? Some of these rocks should be heavy enough to do the job, I'd think. Then we could see that picture-show and check on the angry voices.

In the morning, Captain Bremen hoists a large stone and totes it with him to the barrow entrance.

Irving helps haul a heavy stone as well, in the hopes that it will prove sufficient to keep the skeleton door closed. "Another hit like the one the skellies got on me last time will do for me, in the shape I'm in now!" he grins.

Wait. Which way did he skeleton door swing? Or did it slide? If it swings outward - to the hallway, we could just prop a large log against it instead - to wedge it shut. If it swings intward or slides, chalk that up to our WIS/INT scores... :P

Shown on the player map posted earlier - the skeleton doors swing inward. :)

Faced with the door, Irving frowns. "Maybe we can tie the heavy rocks to the door so it will be too heavy to open."

OOC: If there is a handle on the door, you brace a stout pole across the doorway and tie the door handle to the pole. The pole prevents the door from being opened.

You learn these things when you are a little brother... :-\

OOC: If Zhym wants to roll up someone smart and good at puzzles, I'm fine with heading back to Gaul for him to change his pants. Otherwise, we should head back in...

I have a PC who can be ready by tomorrow, if you want to go the puzzle geek route. :)

The problem being that we also need the muscle in that hole.

I'm happy to just go for it with the party we have. maybe Olaf and Irving can make nice again even, particularly when he realizes the only thing better than a suicide mission is the spark for a good grudge against any form of living rock! :D

Is there anyone against just heading back in? So far it seems everyone has either been pro-hole or apathetic about it. So let's get in there already!

And another option for blocking the door is to wedge coins between the door and the frame. It creates so much friction that the door handle doesn't move without a LOT of effort, essentially locking a door. We did this at college to people before taking a sheet of paper with baby powder on it, placing it at the foot of the door and blowing it in, creating a baby powder cloud.

Bandy Sandybanks

Remembering the candelabra from the last time, Bandy leaves his candlestick put away and draws his sword, holding it with both hands.

Lets he'd back in. Time's wasting.

He moves back to the entrance. If others follow behind, he enters...

Captain Bremen follows closely, carrying his rock with him. He immediately looks to see if the hallway is as they left it - is the door to the sun room still propped open, for example? you all are bringing those animals, right? Piety has all that oil and such.

Markd plans then to go in with the others, along with the oil from Piety.

M, can you pm me the known expectation of the gift markd was given before they left.

Irving will also carry a rock, ready to drop it (or throw it) and fight if need be.

Olaf sees everyone else picking up rocks. Not wanting to be left out of the rock party, Olaf finds the biggest one he can carry and takes it with him.

Bremen, Irving, and Olaf excavate and then haul-in several large rocks, hoping they impede passage of the skeletons as they emerge from the two doors. They find, as the enter with the morning light, that the doors to the skeleton room are closed, the hallway quiet and illuminated by the glowing chandelier. The runed door to the sun-room is slid shut, but not fully closed/latched because it was impeded by the rolled tapestry. Bandy stands ready with his longsword, no one yet holds a light source. Bremen suggests someone lead the mounts in; Markd gets the oil from Piety the mule but the mounts remain hobbled and grazing outside near the campsite still.

Time: 12 May 2021, 8:00 am
Light source: Sun, Chandelier
Weather: 46 F, wind 9-14 SSW
Injuries: Irving (lightly injured)
