The Prisoner The Gnome and Soldiers on the Hill.

The party has discussed an evening attack on the collection of Merit's men 200 yards up the hill.

The prisoner, who was recaptured in the Orc cave, has offered information and a connection to "They" -- an intel apparatus which the party knows plays both sides of the conflict.

Thus far, the party is unimpressed with the prisoner and has even considered torture.

A plan for the evening must be made and some kind of consensus on the prisoner.

Garrett sighs looks at the prisoner "You come with me." Garrett takes the prisoner off to the side away from everyone else.

Svent follows Garrett to ensure he does not kill the man.

Calen watches Garrett and Svent take the prisoner out of view, simply shrugging and not having any problems with what is going on. He speaks to the rest of the group still gathered at camp, "That group is in the way, we sneak in or charge in. Makes no difference to me, long as we remove the obstacle..."

A murder in the woods?

The man says to Garrett:
Unbind me and I'll tell you why those men are here and what they seek. I have been here before and know Dedalus personally. My information is predicated on my release.

Garrett "The only release I'll give you is the release of your fingers and toes if you don't start talkin'. If that aint enough incentive there are other things I can cut off you know."

Svent looking a little shocked at Garrett "You should do what he says I saw what he did to that orc and I'm not sure I can prevent him from doing this."

He Speaks

Ok, the prisoner says to Garrett and Svent, I'll let you have the advantage this time. I hope this proves that I can be trusted and cooperated with. I think "They" could employ your party. I hope we improve our relationship. . .

The Gnome has a flying device. I watched him build it about 2 months ago. I was working for the King. Dedalus is always inventing something. And the Gnome was a personal friend of Merit's father -- he is likely to have sided with the loyalists -- Merit knows this. When Merit planned his coupe he wanted information about what Dedalus was working on -- so I got the information, personally. Dedalus thinks I'm a wandering monk.

Those men up there are likely on their way to claim the flying thing. Yours are perhaps the kind of hands he wishes to keep the device out of.

I suggest going around them without horses and taking the high ground in the dark. When they struggle up in the morning with the Oxen and wagons they will be vulnerable. Horses would be a disadvantage in these trees and could make too much noise.

One other thing, 2 of every 10 men in the army is an elf -- because of their heat vision. Stay out of their range if you choose to move at night. There should be 4 elves in that group of 20 men.

They are also likely to have a member of "They" in their company. We agents are pragmatic and valuable. It might be best to take him alive. I could identify him -- well, most likely.

That is my information and that is what I had to offer.

Can we join the others, or are you going to kill me now?

Svent "I've heard of They and I do not agree with their practices."

Garrett "Hmm well you claim another agent of They like you is with them what is it that you Theyans want? What is your mission? Also you claim they think you a monk so from my understanding monks generally don't use many weapons and never wear armor so if we try to pull this ruse off you'd have to look the part of a monk. Svent go tell the others everything this man just told us and I'll be with you shortly. Don't worry I am not going to kill him."

Agent Blab

I never wear armor and only arm myself lightly. I hid my identity from the Gnome because I was spying on his work. I don't assume you have a similar motivation.

Why 'They' is attached to the army is something I will not tell you without reciprocity. You can certainly kill me first for that.

Montego

We can use what this man tells us to defeat Merrits men. This we must do tonight for I know in my heart that we were meant to help this Gnome and in turn, he will help us. Possibly with his flying machine?

Svent indeed relays every bit of information word for word. "I think the gnome can fly us to our destination making it less likely we will encounter the men hunting us. I still don't trust this man who claims he is of They""

Garrett considers the man "Well if I cut you lose I am not going to arm you well most likely you will only get a club or staff. Along with a personal escort. To ensure you are not going to turn on us as you have everyone else you've been aligned with thus far." Garrett then cuts the bindings and escorts the man at dagger point back to the others.

At the mention of the Gnome getting them to their objective faster Calen nods his head in affirmative, "Need the Gnome. We can kill them tonight or wait tomorrow while they are travelling. Makes no difference to me, if no one can decide until they camp and are asleep then I will go there with whoever comes with me and take them out as they sleep..."

I agree with attacking tonight. Even with four elves that see in the dark, they won't be able to wake everyone else before we are upon them.

Baruch, despite seeming like a man of the world, can, completely bewildered about what's being discussed, now only blurt out the following to Agent Blab, if only to maintain at least a tiny grip on reality as he knows it: "Are you a man of...are They men of faith ? Who guides your soul: Aruman? Dekna - or Al Shwuarr'ah ? Surely not.....Guth ?"

Ambush Tonight

The party will use Agent Blab's plan to establish an ambush tonight -- they may attack while it is still dark.
GM assumes party will leave horses and take high ground by maneuvering around soldiers in the cover of darkness.

Garrett has freed Agent Blab but is keeping a close watch.
Blab tells that party, when we engage the soldiers I'll try to fetch my fellow agent over to our cause. So, don't kill the guy in civilian cloths right away-- assuming that is how he will appear.

The idea of making some of this trip faster, and perhaps by air, has piqued the imaginations of the members. Montego' work would be less -- as would wagon girl Milli's.

Baruch asks Blab if members of his organization have religion. Blab answers, Brother Baruch, I'm happy to hear you showing interest in They. The Organization employs allot of different people. I personally and not a man of deep faithful convictions, Brother. But my mother was a priestess to Nerull before she was visited by the Eumenides and driven to madness.

They employs agents and operatives. I once was on a job with operatives from the Temple of St. Cuthbert, and I have a contact who worships Asmodeus.

Titus and Calen are chomping at the bit to smash some evil skulls and meet Dedalus.

Milli moves the horses further down hill and camouflages the wagon with brush.

The party navigates around the soldiers. Montego chooses a path to the left. He marches that party about 150 yards away before cutting up the hill. It is dark and the party leans on Baruch and Svent to navigate -- unusual duty for those men -- but they get it done.

By about 11:30 PM that evening the party is well in front of the soldiers and back on the trail -- about 200 feet away.. The soldier's cooking fire makes avoiding detection easy.

Now the party plans an attack.

Calen, "Wait for them to sleep or quietly take them out while they are distracting cooking? Best to stay quiet and jump each soldier individually as a group if possible, if one shouts out then we wont be able to stay quiet... Or we can just engage them now while they are unaware and cut through them, Does not matter to me."

Freki can be seen in the dark, wandering about as he watches the camp of soldiers. Waiting for the signal to tear out throats, he shall eat well tonight...

Calen looks over to the prisoner now helper(?) before looking back to Garrett, "Fine, no prisoners. No need and it causes problems." to emphasize his point he points his thumb over towards Mr. Blabb.
