Genaromes resolves himself to use his last skeleton finger, to help defeat the gargoyles or, failing that, cover the party's retreat.

Durgo

Durgo observes both wrathbone and Bhelnus' actions and takes out a sack to place over the gargoyle he and Bhelnus are by using his shield to as cover he steps to the side of the gargoyle stooped over behind the shield as he moves to place the sack over its head and body hopefully.

If Bhelnus succumbs to the poison durgo will prepare to extricate Bhelnus next round, "I'll get you Bhelnus if need be."

Exploring beyond the Harpy Shaft.

Bhelnus whacks an Imp before the poison effect takes its toll and he visibly slows, his speech slurred, his actions resisted as if he was underwater. subject to a Slow affect.

Fydmar impales the same critter, the guardian animate fracturing under the bolt's impact, -6hp & -6hp, Durgo then sacks the Imp, dodging the last puffs of flechettes.

Imps blow-darts: vs Durgo [1d20]=1 [1d20]=3 vs Bhelnus [1d20]=11 [1d20]=8

Genaromes tosses in his last bone guardian, the skeleton advancing to hack at the last of the coffer Imps, making a dent upon its head.

Skeleton attacks:[1d20]=15[1d6]=2

Wrathbone tries to sack up the gargoyle guardians who are carved into the rear end of the coffers.

Frosty gargoyle: [1d20]=4 [1d4]=1

He is able to dodge the next blast of cold breath and quickly gags the gargoyle, tying a hand back and sacking it. The action may be unorthodox but it seems successful in binding this guardian from causing more trouble for the tomb raiders.

Apologies I forgot to note Brother Symeon in my updates, it was an oversight.

The cleric, ever watchful of the group being surprised wards the area, Yngvar takes Brutus and goes to the little hall by the Harpy Shaft to keep watch there, Rickford & Duvall guard the rooms to the north.

Actions I rolled here Genaromes skeleton attacking the middle Imp and also soaking up the frosty blasts of the other two 'free' gargoyles. It takes several hits from flechettes and cold cones, eventually freezing and numbing until it collapses into a pile of bones. However its sacrifice gives Bhelnus time to slo-motion escape the room and Durgo, Fydmar, Wrathbone, Symeon to each prepare another sacking & gagging attempt.
Actions: can each character roll me a successful [4d6] vs Dexterity to sack a gargoyle as you gang up on them while they focus on the skeleton.

Bhelnus, you can act too, but I need the check vs Con to succeed as you battle the Slow onset.

Bhelnus

Bhelnus knows his limited Dexterity and deteriorating condition leave him as a liability to the party and decides to exit the gargoyle room to the hallway.

Wrathbone

Wrathbone: Dexterity 12 vs skill check: [4d6]=16

Acts as slow as the poisoned dwarf.

"Good job on using the skeleton". he says.

It is, even just soaking up wounds and being the team scapegoat or meat(less)shield, he gives us opportunity to overcome these traps here. Just hope these coffers hold more than mere bones.

Durgo

Durgo moves as nimble as he can to the next gargoyle and attempts to put a sack over it.

He assists the others or Bhelnus as needed once the sack is placed.

"Come on lads let's wrap this place up."

Exploring beyond the Harpy Shaft

The group gang up on the coffer guardians, sacking the closet Imp figure and reaching successfully to sack up one of those that are fixtures of the rear side. Genaromes & Brother Symeon are just too slow or not dextrous enough, allowing the 'Frosty' guardian to breath a blast of freezing cold that chills each to the bone, -3hp & -3hp. An after effect is not just to cause them to shiver but each needs a Constitution check vs [4d6] to shake off a more lingering effect.

Bhelnus is slowed, afflicted similarly to the spell effect for an unknown duration.
The last one can be eventually sacked up and blinded from seeing you, the magical animations still happen, the Frosties' still breathing though the hessian sacks soak up the cold and ultimately freeze like a block of ice, entombing the guardians in their own trap.

Two of the three blow-dart imps were destroyed, one sacked up. The three coffers can be pillaged.

Each has a body in, a figure wrapped in burial linens and surrounded by articles of interest. One has a fine chainmail shirt, the links still supple and strong despite the other iron ware being rusted and eroded. Another clutches two large pebbles, ine in each hand. They look quite interesting and when one person takes one and tosses it over to the dwarf to inspect, instead, it hovers above the person's head then starts a little orbit of his cranium.

The third body holds a spell book, several pages of which are yellowed and dry, flaking to dust under a mere touch but other pages are not so brittle, the ink legible and beautifully traced in arcane literary form.

Actions please

Wrathbone, great idea on the sacks.
Bhelnus, it is good to see you still among the living. I am sorry I don't have another antidote.
Ah, at least we have something worthwhile in here!

Spellbook to Genaromes? How to divvy up the 2 stones & the chain mail - maybe each put in what they want & high roll gets it? Then those that don't get the next item(s)?

Wrathbone

Search the coffer bottoms too and anything else in the room. Yes, I am glad this crypt seems worthwhile. I think others are too but maybe we haven't cracked those nuts yet. Even things like that hanging skeleton with the named bones taken back and given to the hospice will be worth stuff.

As far a taking treasure. My own feeling is use what we can now on the expedition and leave room for swapping stuff about once we return and divide plunder properly. Who can use better AC while adventuring? Give the one with greatest need the chainmail shirt (figuring it may be a -1 to AC item).

Test out the Ioun stones, once we know what they do then pass them on or keep to use as 'party equipment'.

I am fine with holding any personal choice until later.

Could we get a list of what we have found so far?

[4d6]=13 vs CON 14

Still shaking and shivering from the ice blast he was just hit with, Genaromes feverishly grabs the newly discovered spell book and starts studying it.

Sensing that his faculties might be impacted for a while, he loads his crossbow as quickly as he can and sets a watch on the door while the others check for goodies.

Durgo

Durgo says, "I agree with Wrathbone. Who can best benefit from the items should see it's use once it is deemed safe. There are some items that can be cursed I hear. Each can take their chances though. The chain mail might be sized for a certain sized humanoid too. I am not a person of greed so unless an item isn't best suited for me, I am happy for others to make use of it. My main goal is to find the body of Sir Guy and any items associated with them. The bodies location and map of the lair provided to the Mercenary guild's Master Osen and then Lord Krothos potentially."

"I have given my intentions to see it through. I'd be honored for all of you to assist me. "

Durgo adds, "Brother Symeon if you can monitor the others for health concerns just in case they might succumb to their ailments from our recent activities. I know we all appreciate your gift of St. Yggs healing. Amen."

"Gen, let's also make sure to keep up on our cartography of the lair. This will be most important later on. Details will matter in this regard. Let's make sure we didn't miss anything in here and search for secret doors and such. Next we need to decide our next actions too."

Durgo looks the bottom of the coffers over thoroughly and the room for secret doors.

"I'm afraid I will be relying on you. I'm feeling a bit weak right now..." answers Genaromes to Durgo, still shaking from having been hit, and the cold.

Genaromes is currently at 1HP

Brother Symeon

[4d6]=10 vs 16 CON

Symeon shrugs off the cold and lays his holy symbol on Gen in prayer.

Cure Light Wounds [1d8+1]=7+1=8

"He makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire"

Wrathbone

I will try to encourage the group. More loss of hit points, magic and healing. Goes back to the comments that the Barrowmaze is a grind and slow attrition.
Next we need to decide our next actions too.
After getting into this area we have not explored too far but covered these crypts north of the Harpy shaft. I am thinking that there would be no shame in withdrawing and coming back again. Even resting overnight, we only benefit from Brother Symeon's healing prayers. I am just putting it out there for group discussion. I will stay with this group and expedition no problem. I just think we might need repeated trips or bring in a greater force that could guard a camp here with supplies. There is a reason Sir Guy's body has not been recovered in centuries.

Here's hoping one magic stone regenerates hp!

Durgo

Durgo nods at Wrathbone, "Better safe than sorry ey friend. Very well once we finish here, we can start our way back depending on the sun. I'd like to head back at first light so if that means staying here until then we can rest in the harpy lair and start back at first light. First things first lets see if this room hold anything more. Everyone should make sure to note what you have and what if does if you learn anything. Once finished here we can go back to the lair unless we want to clear the undead in the crypt before leaving."
