The Search For The Way Home

Noon, Hot, Humid, Damp


There is no pursuit from the jungle, so the beaten down party get themselves and their fallen paladin situated in the boat so they can be ferried back to town.

Maag helps Pete row the small craft back to the much larger island as Joe hits them up with questions.

"Man, except for the really ugly one, you guys look to be in pretty bad shape. So, what did yall find? Did the trees try to eat you? What was inside the circle of stones? Did you find anyone else alive in there? What happened to your loud friend there?"

Saracen snorts at the mention of his ugly visage. The trees did try and block our escape. There was great evil lurking within the mounds in land. And LOTS of exquisitely sculpted Minotaur statues. Almost as if they were once real and turned to stone. Any rumours of such creatures lurking on the island?
The orange robed half-orc settles into the craft in the centre of possible and watches the island disappear as they row away.

"Gruntin and snortin is something that has been reported by a few folks who got close enough to hear it. An we heard other tales of the plants themselves comin alive to try to eat ya. But that's about it. Lots of minotaur statues you say? Well now, that is a might peculiar aint it?"

Alordan nods at the story. Peculiar indeed. Did you notice those Minotaur tracks started AT the dais? That must be how they are getting in. But getting in from where?....

He looks back at the two towers with a stern look - you didn’t mention trees that eat people when I asked about this place.

Lerrick sits back and listens to the conversations between the boatmen and her fellow adventurers. She shoots a stern look at Maag when he mentions the death of the cleric. Shhhhhhh She then shakes her head and smiles when the boatman aren't looking.

Back To Beachtown
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Humid


After a short row back to the shore, and another longer row back to town, the group soon finds themselves back on the outskirts of Beachtown once again.

Things look the same as they did when you left, but with a few more people up and about now, doing chores and farming, just like every other long, hot day here. There is not much in the way of fanfare when the badly beaten group exits the small boat with their unconscious friend. Seeing nearly dead groups of adventurers dragging themselves back to town isn't too unusual around here, apparently.

Saracen hefts Crestbrook over his shoulder once out of the boat and onto the beach, and asks someone to bring his pack and Shield with them.

He will carry the unconscious Paladin to his shack and take off his armour and lay his belongings at the side of the hammock. He will dress the most grievous sounds of the man and let him sleep. He will disrobe himself, wash himself down and climb into a spare hammock to sleep.

Maag picks up Crestbrook's gear and is about to drag it off after Saracen. Then a thought occurs to him.

Lerrick

Lerrick takes Crestbrooks's pack and shield and follows the warrior priest. She puts the shield and pack down where Saracen left him. Totally exhausted herself the cleric collapses next to the slumbering paladin and falls asleep within a minute.

That's a good point, the dais must be a magical door of some kind. we need a wizard next time we go back

Alordan makes a comment about the minotaur and the raised dais that Gramble agrees with, suggesting that they find a wizard to join the expedition next time. Once back in town, the group gets Crestbrook and all his heavy gear stowed away in his shack where he can sleep off the hard feelings about the murder he was involved in earlier. As the paladin rests, all he sees are visions of Cora's distressed pretty face in his dreams.

Before heading off to sleep themselves, in the middle of the afternoon, the group decides to split up the gold and small gems found in the mattress of the dead priestess of Athena. Worth a total of 120gp all together, each member of the group would get 20gp. (since Lerrick got the mace, if she wants to relinquish her share to the others, that is fine with me too. It doesn't matter to me how you decide to divvy up the spoils. If not, everyone please record the 20 gold on your sheets.)

The others head off to their own shacks, ready for a long rest after their exiting morning.

As always, please feel free to do whatever you like in town. There will be a short pause in this thread to allow players to do their thing. Once everyone tells me that they are ready to set out again, we will resume. Thanks!

With Lerrick having dragged off Crestbrook's gear and donated her share of loot to everybody, Maag is in an even better mood. He flips a coin in the air. "Time to go an' convert dis into some rum! He grins.

Maag walks off in the direction of the Treehouse, stopping to pick up a few scraps of tree bark on the way.
