Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Alordan wholeheartedly agrees, "no touching that thing until we have recovered!"
was there any unexplored tunnels left? Might also be worth going through again - but aware that these things could pop back again.

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
It does seem like the only thing left to deal with is this weird doorway.
I would LOVE to get everyone back to being involved in this one before we continue.
The other tunnels are empty and now seem safe for resting...........at the moment.
But you also know these things could appear essentially anywhere, with little you can do to prevent it.

Staying well clear of the control panel, Theo listens carefully to the discussions about arcane magic. With a particular interest in the dangers of being on the receiving end of it.

How about this???
The Ethereal Job
Astronomy Domine
The Dark Rock
Gathering up their wounded and assembling in the last chamber, the group decides to wait long enough for everyone to have a say about their next actions. Grimble attends to Grumble, asking Andron to use his magic to aid with the poison. The gruffer gnome brother seems to be feeling a little better the longer you wait, apparently overcoming the poison naturally.
After a good amount of time passes, Alordan tries his cube again, erecting his magic cabin to make the wait a bit more tolerable. So far, none of the horrid 4-armed red monsters return to their makeshift breeding grounds to cause any more trouble.
Amun quickly tires of all the waiting around. "This is boring!"
Actions?
Are there any spells you'd like to cast before resetting them again?

Andron uses all of his healing to get those members who were unconscious back up on their feet again, though some of them just barely. Grumble comes around as well, though he appears to be quite weak yet himself.
The group is caught up on what they missed, eventually asking Feanol if she has any idea what the former starry portal now showing a strange control panel is all about. (I sure hope she does)
Grumble huffs and starts walking towards the panel, volunteering to be the one who guesses at the settings if need be.

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Torbath
Torbath listens to what happen when he was unconscious and remarks after being quiet for a long time - "A couple of patterns of four in that description. A four-armed xill had no negative effects, you detected four types of magic (Transmutation, Creation, Evocation, and Alteration). Given that we are looking for a secret base of Leomund perhaps that means we should turn on (all at the same time)
The only other one that comes to mind is Space for extra-dimension space but we should only add that if the first fails since it is not in the pattern of four. I will be happy to adjust two of them."

- Soul: Transmutation involves the transformation of objects or beings from one form to another. The term "Soul" represents the essence or core of a being, and through transmutation, one could potentially alter or affect the soul itself.
- Infinity: Creation involves bringing something into existence or forming something new. "Infinity" represents boundlessness, endless possibilities, and the eternal nature of existence, reflecting the limitless potential of creation.
- Sun: Evocation involves summoning or harnessing magical energies to produce specific effects. The "Sun" represents radiant energy, power, and vitality, aligning with the idea of summoning energy or power through evocation.
- Consciousness: Alteration involves changing the form or properties of objects or beings. "Consciousness" represents awareness, perception, and the mind, reflecting the mental aspect of altering reality through intention or perception.
The only other one that comes to mind is Space for extra-dimension space but we should only add that if the first fails since it is not in the pattern of four. I will be happy to adjust two of them."

Wow. I was thinking the same thing about patterns of four. But in relation to the things' arms, and the arrangement of the spots on the portal. What you say seems very keen to me, Mr. Torbath.

Maag looks at Torbath skeptically. "Typical bleedin' wizard. You are not goin' to admit dat you are just goin' to pull dem at random. So you make up a load of old bollocks to sound like you know wot you are doin'".
" 'ow about dis for yer pattern of four? I am goin' to stand about four-ty feet away before yer start messin' wiv dat fing". He stomps off to a safe distance.

Would Feanol like to make an action since everyone is back up and running again?

Takes some time to look at the panel in its new appearance. Unsure what these strange things are joins Maag in his move to safety.

He pauses momentarily before casting his divination, "Astrology? These controls may reference elements of astrology."
"They seem to group in pairs. Body and Heart, Soul and Spirit, Mind and Conciousness, for the top two rows. Planet and Moon, Sun and Star, Space and Infinity for the bottom two rows."
"Perhaps a pair from the top matched with a pair from the bottom? Body and Heart with Planet and Moon. Soul and Spirit with Sun and Star. Mind and Consciousness with Space and Infinity?"
"I will cast two Augury spells. One to test Mr. Torbath's theory and the other to test switching on Body, Heart, Planet, and Moon."

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Sorry gang! I was sure after all my Pink Floyd references that one of you was certain to get this one.
The Ethereal Job
Astronomy Domine
The Dark Rock
A few members position themselves as far away from the controls as possible before anyone starts to throw dials and switches.
Torbath comes up with a logical solution, then Andron does the same, both of them wondering which one could be correct.
Andron uses a magical divination to determine if the effects of their next actions will be beneficial to them or not. It takes a while, but asking about Torbaths suggestion gives the caster a distinct feeling of woe. He casts the spell a second time and receives the same results, giving Andron the impression that neither of their guesses will bring them anything but harm.
Grimble and Grumble stand in front of the panel for a moment, both of them scratching their heads. "We know its a doorway of some kind. What we don't know is what might be behind it. Or what might happen if we are wrong about our guess. Let's think about this for a minute. Would the solution have something to do with where we are?"
Grumble starts to reach for one of the dials. "WE know what we came here for in the first place, and it wasnt to kill a bunch of damn 4-armed monsters. If Grimble says this rock is filled with treasure, then I believe him! If everyone wants to stand back, I will throw the first switch."
