Okay. Pilydor casts the Magical Stone spell, Darius runs back to the tree line, and the flying creatures advance. You can see that they look like kobolds with wings. Each of them is holding a largish stone. They are still about 80 feet in the air.

Let's switch to individual initiative since there aren't that many combatants. When you post, write your intention, your initiative including modifiers such as weapon speed, and attacks rolls plus damage if you are able to attack.

Does Darius run into the trees or stop at the edge?

Into the treeline, just past his companions, to where he left his spear. With luck the flyers will continue the pursuit into the area beneath the canopy.

Pilydor throws his three stones (can be thrown up to 30 yards) and the creatures are 80 feet away.

init roll: [1d10] = 10

Pilydor, you didn't add weapon speed to your initiative score. It's not listed but let's say a thrown stone has a weapon speed of 2, like a thrown knife or dagger. That brings your initiative to 12.

Darius runs into the trees, irritating the flying kobolds who swoop down to see where he went. They are very surprised when two of them get a smack with magical stones. One falls to the ground, twitches, and lies still. One other is wounded and screeching.

The flying kobolds are now close enough for missile fire such as spears and javelins. The two remaining creatures look like they are going to drop the stones and fly back up into the air. As before, please tell me what you plan to do, a hit roll if it includes an attack, and damage if you think you hit. Kenelm is going to throw a javelin.

Lacking any missile weapons, Darius will hang back, with the intention of finishing off any wounded creatures with his spear once they have been grounded.

Baltir misses the flying kobold

Round 3.

Darius, Pilydor, and Baltir wait to see if the creatures come to the ground. Kenelm flings his javelin into the air and catches the wounded one. It drops to the ground and doesn't move. The third has dropped its stone and flies as quickly as it can into the air.

Does anyone have a bow they can shoot at the fleeing creature?

"Kobolds with wings, does anyone know these monsters?"

Pilydor won't spend his last priest spell on magical stones, so he hides if combat continues.

"Nay," Baltir replies, reloading his xbow and then raising it to (hopefully) fire.

(OOC: didn't get a chance to edit thc chr sheet, so I guess it's a heavy xbow. So, hopefully, he can still get a shot off even a round later, when it's ready. Just in case: attack: 13 damage: 5)

Unfortunately, Baltir misses because the flying kobold is getting farther away. IF no one has a bow or other long range weapon then the creature escapes. It flies back towards the cliffs and then disappears over the side. You wait a few minutes to catch your breath and see if the creature comes back. It appears to have been scared off.
You each get 20 experience points for that encounter.

"We'd best get under cover. Where there are three, there may be more. And if there are more, we really don't want to be out here when they arrive."
Darius will look the body over briefly. "It does look like a kobold. I've heard of bat-winged man-shaped beasts before, but I've never met anyone who claimed to have seen one in the flesh. Might be an interesting trophy to bring back, assuming we can spare the time on our exit.
"What say we get to the mansion, pronto?"

The creatures look simply like kobolds with bat-like wings. They must be extremely rare because you have never seen or even heard of one before. They carry nothing on them.
Kenelm agrees that getting to the mansion quickly is a good idea, though he doesn't think the creature will come back.

Baltir takes a moment to look closer at the dead winged kobald things...kicking the bodies over to see them better, if necessary. He searches them by using his axe blade to move clothing or wahtever in case they hold any items of interest, although he does not touch the bodies.

He's not afraid of them...but rather repulsed by their stench, although he will touch the bodies if necessary (picking something off of them,e tc).

When done, he agrees with the others and heads off at his top speed toward the mansion.

(I didn't get an email notification. Sorry for the delay).

You quickly move across the field towards the mansion wall gate. The doors of the gate have long fallen off, probably through strong wind rather than fighting. The walls are about six feet tall and were probably built to keep out animals, not invaders. The wall is made of large stones and mortar. Vines grow all over the walls. and the gate posts. Looking through the gate, you can see the front entrance of the one-story mansion about sixty feet away. The house is about one hundred feet across.

"Nice place. The gardener's a bit of a slacker, though." Darius looks around the gate. He's no ranger, but if animals have been using the place, there should be a bit of a game trail in the gateway.

Is the main building wood or stone?

Baltir walks up to the busted gates and looks in to see how they can pass to the mansion...a trail of some sort or something.

"Now this...I don't like the looks of this..." the dwarf says warily, his x-bow put away and his shield and axe readied instead.
