Thargus, Niphon, and Athena enter the chamber in cliff (mark off a torch from Niphon’s or Jarviss’ inventory). The group enters from the south into a chamber with an 8’ tall ceiling that is approximately 30’(east to west) by 20’ (south to north) of shaped rock without decoration or furnishings. All that is found inside is the remnants of a fire circle in the northwest corner with a small (less than 1’ in diameter) hole to vent smoke. The fire circle looks to have been used in the last week but not today. A stack of fire wood lines the western wall and can provide fuel for many fires. This appears to be a comfortable area to rest while transiting the Long Stair.

Niphon
Niphon sighs with relief and shucks off his backpack. He stretches his weary limbs as he sets Javess to building a fire and preparing supper.

Athena will search the walls, starting by the fire area for secret doors.

Octavios observes the fine shelter. “I can think of a lot worse places….”

After a thorough search the party finds no secret doors. Gundren remarks, This appears to be quality ancient Archontean stone masonry. Not Dwarven in its quality but pretty good for human work. Nothing appears out of sorts to me.

Niphon
Niphon begins to make himself comfortable as Javess bustles around making camp. If there's light enough he'll spend some time reviewing the papers from the caravan camp for any details he missed the first time.
Should we set watch at the cave mouth?

Thargus
"Lets also make sure to check the ascent regularly while on watch - in case they decide to follow us in the dark" - Thargus added - "Feels reckless and we should probably see their light coming from afar, but who knows? Better not risk it"
Otherwise ready to camp.

Re: Delve #1 - The Adventure Begins
Unless there is something else the party wants to do I want to try these rules out for sleeping rough:
1) What season is it? (In our case it is Winter which is +2 to the number to beat)
2) Does one of the party members make a fire? (Without a fire +2 to the number to beat)
3) Does the character have a bedroll or sleeping furs? (Without a bedroll or sleeping furs +2 to the number to beat)
4) Does one of the party members attempt to make a meal for the party? This will require a Wisdom Check (3d6 + WIS > 22 is successful) (success -1 to the number to beat)
5) Does anyone want to try build camaraderie by telling stories or singing songs over the camp fire (or in the dark if there is no fire)? This will require a Charisma check (3d6 + CHR > 22 is successful) (success -1 to the number to beat)
6) Roll 3d6 and add your Constitution Score.
Depending on 1-5 the number to beat in 6 can be anywhere between 20 and 28.
If the character does not beat the number, they will suffer a -1 penalty to attack/damage rolls and spellcasters will have a 1 in 6 chance of not being able to concentrate enough to memorize their spells the following day because they did not get a good night's rest. The penalty will accumulate up to -4 and 4 in 6 chance for spellcasters. If a character gets to this point, they will become "completely exhausted" and will not be able to partake in any adventuring activity until they successfully sleep.
Please let me know if these rules make sense ... I am flexible

Athena
Athena will make dinner for everyone. "A good meal will help everyone feel better."
Meal [3d6+16]=9+16=25
Rest [3d6+14]=11+14=25
Sure, works for me.

Re: Delve #1 - The Adventure Begins
Octavios will lend a hand with building a fire for sure.
Camp check [3d6+10]=9+10=19
His check would include the fire benefit and he has a bedroll for sleeping.

Thargus
Could be an interesting mechanic - in this case it seems Thargus has a bedroll, we have a fire and a meal, correct?
Rest [1d20+8]=20+8=28

Re: Delve #1 - The Adventure Begins
While I hate to take a 20 out of play, I was looking for a 3d6 to add to CON score.

Gelli
Whatever you want is fine, but for those of us with poor stats some of those rolls are rough. For a CON of 9 (low average), in the best situation it is less than 50% to have a good nights sleep (11+) and with some of the mods it is impossible (19+ needed).
Gelli will stay near the fire.
CON 9: [_3d6+9]=(6+5+3)=14+9=23

Niphon
I'm not sure if Javess would provide a bonus here. Niphon has a bedroll, there is a fire and a meal.
