Sounds good. He could also scout once we are up the hill.
We know two stage robberies occured along this road. MO was a felled tree blocking the road in a visibility restricted area (around a bend or behind a rise). DT would be looking to see if someone dragged a tree off the road or chopped a tree up to clear the road. If found, he'd investigate the area for belongings left behind or other evidence left in the area.

Anyone who wants to watch for signs of dragged trees or logs along the road, please roll an Observation roll.

Sorry for the delays in the GM posts, all. I'm having one of those really hectic times at work. Will work on speeding things up.

Please deduct 80 cents for the supper, a night's stay, and stabling horses at Mrs. Smith's (except Andreas, 75 cents, Mrs. Smith reduced by a nickel for the cold biscuits). Please add 8 XP for sleeping indoors and having good hot meals.

Thanks for the heads up Ateno. A few more days and I'll be back to a regular schedule. Which means that I can post more substantial stuff and less lite fluff and move things forward. Thanks for your patience everyone.

In Strange Pursuit, Mrs. Smith's story about hoeing and cutting off the rattlesnake's head comes from my late aunt (uncle's wife) Ruby in Arkansas. She did that to a snake and told us about it during breakfast. She also cooked everything with bacon grease like Mrs. Smith. Not very healthy, but it sure was tasty.
In Comancheria, the horse Queen Bee is a horse with the same name from when I was a kid in Texas. She had those smart, headstrong behaviors.

Surprised she didn’t tell you after breakfast that y’all ate the snake! Snakes are good eatin’…
Ridden plenty of horses that had difficulties gettin ridden away from the stable and would sprint back to them when able.

Sounds like it's a pretty common trait then. That was the only horse I ever rode. The last time I rode her she did that trick of running under a mesquite branch and dragging me off of her back. (We moved away then. Otherwise the dads would have probably strongly encouraged me to "Get back on the horse that throwed ya.")

Oh geez...never had that! Just had one try brushing my leg against a tree...saw it coming and lifted my leg. Yours was ornery!!

I went to a tabletop gaming expo today and played my first face-to-face RPG since 1985.

D&D 5e. Was much fun.

I quit D&D years ago when the rules got ludicrously complicated. I hear 5e is simplified. Sounds like you had fun!

I like the 5e rules, though compared to OSR they make the PCs kind of superhero-y. Which a suppose allows the DM to throw more powerful and interesting opponents at them. You have a lot of options each combat turn, without it turning into a crunchy complicated rules system. I hear that that's where Pathfinder comes in, but I don't know much about modern RPGs. I did study the Conan: an Age Undreamed Of rules, but decided they weren't a good fit for PBP.

That's cool. Sounds like fun!! On another note, I really dug the Honor Among Thieves D&D movie. They nailed it. The Paladin cracked me up!!

Glad you had a good time. My face to face group is still going, usually every other wee except my busy fall season. I really enjoy pbp but there is just something special about sitting around a table together.

i like the variety in 3.x and Pf, but combat can take a while
had a little exposure to 4e on a forum, but didn't like it - seems they were trying to emulate online RPGs or something and never tried 5e
i thought they were supposed to be doing 6e soon - but could be wrong in that
lately got into Stars Without Number, Worlds Without Number - simple, but the deluxe rules have extra class variants, and just started in a Dark Eye game - had one encounter so far, seems pretty cool and i like the char gen - would probably do my own house campaign if i ever ran it [ still learning how things work]

I think 5th evolved after WoTC wanted to make the game more like a 'turned based' arcade game after actual 'roleplaying' on a table top was diminishing in favour of PC or Console games. 5th is good but in my opinion, every class is very much the same. Everyone gets to blast, zap, hack, manifest magic effects, have bonus actions. 1st edition is my 'go to' D&D and I appreciate those games on the forum here.
Honour among Thieves:

I think Rex saw it almost a year ago today.

I thought Honor Among Thieves was excellent. They really pulled it off well.
Yes, they've announced they're working on a 6e. I imagine 5e will stay around, partly because people have invested so much money in the pricey books.
