Turnip rushes over to the orc in shock and stabs him.

MS vs Ignore, A*3 to the Abdomen (note I went with the better location of High or Mid since he is laying on the ground ignoring the attack).
5+2+5+6-5pv=13, K4 to the abdomen
orc kill roll (9) [4d6]=17

Turnip kills the orc with a vicious stab to the gut.

Arngeir attacks the orc.

CS vs MS, A*1 to the Throax (chest), 8+1-8pv=1, M1 to the Thorax
orc shock roll (9) [1d6+5]=2+5=7

Arngeir gets a glancing blow in on the orc's chest but the orc manages to stay up.

Algrim rushes over to help Arngeir.

Normally the orc would get an initiative roll for a tactical advantage but as he is cautious still he can't use it anyways so no roll.

The orc is now outnumbered and -10 to all defense rolls in addition to his other penalties.
orc mankar block (20) [1d100]=57
MS vs MF, A*1 to the face.
face location [1d100]=10
13+3-2pv=14, G4 to the jaw. The sum of his injury levels is S3+M1+M1+M1+G4 is 10, which is greater than his Endurance of 9 so he is automatically dead.

Algrim smashes his axe into the orcs jaw and drops him on the spot.

Idril looks around and takes in the bloodshed.

"Is anyone injured?"

Combat over, all 8 orcs are dead, no one is injured.

Turnip pants heavily as she jogs over to one of the dead garguns to pull her taburi out of its buckler.

"Let's not do that again."

She looks around on the field of battle.

"What a carnage. Should we hide the bodies in some way? When they don't return, their brethren will come looking for them. And us."

She looks at the cliff.

"Either that. Or we just go for the cliff right away. We should have at least a day before any more show up, or what do you think?"

Algrim puts his axe and shield away and spits on the ground near the dead orcs "Ain't got a durned scratch on me. Durned orcs ain't no match fer us."

Idril

"Just before they showed up I was feeling that we were pretty close to the outpost."

Arngeir

The smiling ivinian wipes his bloody face with a piece of cloth from one of the bodies, which he then uses to clean his axe. He heads over to recover his shorkana and cleans it before returning to to his belt.

"Hmmm. Not big challenge these orcs. Search them, then dump out of sight, yes?"

Turnip's gaze wanders over the gargun carcasses.

"I can't imagine they have much on them. I mean look at their clothing and even the weapons. Everything is half broken. Come on, let's drag them into this crevasse, or watcha call it."

She grabs one by the feet and starts dragging it to dump it at least a few yards down a hole.

"Then I think we should get going. The sooner we find this outpost the better. Don't want the other part of their tribe to turn up!"

After the garguns have been "collected", Turnip asks Idril to lead the way to the cliff.

Idril looks everyone over just to make sure no one is injured. Then she points to the cliff, "Lets check it out and see what we can learn."

Everyone heads over to the cliff area and start looking around.

Algrim finds what he thinks may have been an excellent spot for it, right where Idril is looking. It is a natural alcove running the entire 40 foot height of the cliff. It is from 8 to 12 feet deep and perhaps 40 feet wide. He can't find any evidence of an entrance.

Turnip finds something else, just outside the alcove she finds what appears to be a goat path, very narrow where a crack in the cliff goes up to the top of the cliff, 40 feet above.

Arngeir
doesn't find anything that makes him think something would be here, but he does think the alcove would make a great camp site.

Turnip

"Okay, my time to be useful perhaps." She inhales deeply.

"Arngeir, save one of those apples for me if I fall, okay?"

She smiles and then starts navigating the narrow path up the cliff.

"Woooooo! I made it, I knew it!"

Algrim applauds "Right good bit o mountaineering there Turnip." the dwarf wonders if there isn't a better way to go not really wanting to take the same path.

Once on top Turnip looks around. It is a mixed forest with 4 large rocks/small boulders in the vicinity of the alcove. Nothing looks man/dwarf made as far as she can tell.

Note that Turnip and Arngeir have rope (50 feet each).

Idril speaks up, "I could try and search for esoteric residue down here or up there. What do you think?"

Arngeir doesn't seem to taken with the idea of climbing, he turns to Idtil

"You not do both? Do here first, before we all try climb?"

Idril nods, "Yes I will try down here first."

She moves to the center of the alcove area up against the cliff face and concentrates.

Turnip lies on the ground on the top of the cliff, talking back to the others.

"What? A door?! That's fantastic! Does the key fit? And what's that about a chimney? Yes, of course, all sealed buildings need a chimney. I'll have a look around while you try the door!"

Turnip starts searching for something that could be indicative of a sealed and/or overgrown chimney on top of the cliff.

Turnip notices that one of the large rocks/small boulders is straight back from the door Idril noted. It is approximately 30-35 feet back from the edge of the cliff, perfectly even with the door. It is pretty heavy, would require a lever and some strong backs at the very least to move. Looks like it has been there a very long time. She doesn't spot anything else she thinks is a door or chimney. if this rock is covering something, maybe some of the others are too.

You get a skill development roll for Awareness.
