Richard Brilliant, Master Tiny. I am weak. Would you do the honours for us and flip it over?

Tiny

"OK, does anyone have a sack I can dump it into?"

He turns the chest on its side and tries to get into it through the bottom. Seeing if he can pull the bottom off by force.

"Excellent idea Korin."

Tiny uses the remaining sheets to cover the area under the chest and around the front and back so as to catch anything.

Richard I

While searching for a loot bag in my pouch, I noticed those 147 pp 63 gp from earlier, and I feel quite encumbered.

Could you all please help me out: take 50 pp 12 gp each
?

Removes 147 pp 63 gp from my char sheet and adds
47 pp 13 gp. ( Retracted later)

I just read in my char sheet: Encumbrance: 187 gp,
So perhaps I am still encumbered?

Korin has more coin on him than that 496 gp, so he is weighed down plenty himself.

I see, Korin. No takers then. Very well.

Keeps 147 pp 63 gp for now.

Looks at the sheet that Tiny has laid under the chest in anticipation

When none of those present with thieving skills make any motions whatsoever towards cracking the puzzle,

Tiny,

spurred on by Richard, applies muscular force and starts tearing away at the underside of the chest - but without great success. Whatever is sealed up, remains sealed up. That wood is tough. And the feathers tickle his nostrils.

If interested, Tiny may of course attempt to try again/other ways of physically dealing with the challenge.

Richard and Korin meanwhile are beginning to feel the growing burden of wealth.

Korin jumps and and gives it a shot in trying to solve the "riddle" of opening the secret compartment in the chest. "Lemme giver a shot again Tiny."

Korin,

in frustration, applies a variety of methods, but it's a tricky one. His Remove Traps roll is too high. No 2nd try. Remaining options: another thief, or smashing it again.

Korin sets his pack down and digs around for something....he pulls out the "rusty item" found a while ago and tries to see if it fits in that odd shaped but not quite keyhole Richard pointed out. If that does not fit he will merely grab his footman's mace and smash the thing open.

Thorelf gives it a shot as well..

Open locks (34%): [1d100]=66

Find traps (25%): [1d100]=95

Remove traps (20%): [1d100]=94

hnnnnnnngggg :o

"This was a real tricky one!"

Can Thorelf see any keyhole, like in the last chest (maybe this was mentioned already, sorry)?

Eaton

Have done some thinking while the others are trying to open the bottom of the chest.

You can’t open the bottom right? The chest is build together by top, bottom and sides. If you remove the sides of the chest the bottom will come loose. An other option is to turn the chest upside down. There is a possibility that the opening is under the chest.

Stands back to see how the others will attack the chest after his remarks.

Despite the pool of nimble thieving talent present in the group, and clever suggestions from many, in the end it is only plain violence that works. The wooden chest caves in under Tiny's 2nd crushing blow, and he almost causes a repeat of his previous performances when coins erupt from the splinters. However, they do not fly around the place this time, but quietly trickle out on the floor into a nice little pile of:

- 339 gp
- 131 sp

in addition, a tiny tube, filled with something, rolls down and stops to rest beneath the coins. It is labelled "Faerie Fire", which some of you recognise as the name of a Druid spell. The logo, colour and design look very similar to the Vapour of Violacea packs you have been finding - possibly they come from the same maker.

Richard's suggestions at evenly distributing coinage encumbrance is now beginning to look like a reasonable idea :)

The 147 pp 63 gp from before, and now adding to that this 339 GP 131 sp from this chest ,

Making a total of 147 PP, 412 GP, 131 SP.

Divided on us five we each get
49 pp 82 gp 26sp : Please add to your chat sheets.

The remainder indivisible 2 pp, 2 gp, 1 sp goes into a "common coffee account" which Richard offers to keep separate from the rest of the loot

I am recording Richards new sums in his sheet now.

Richard after having split the coins to everyone, picks up the small tube, trying to figure out if it is s weapon of some sort.

Well done indeed, Master Tiny!

Shall we go back to the western door, Master Korin?
Please lead the way, and I shall follow you.

Korin puts away his things once more and adds his sum of coin to his already hefty wealth and nods his head to Richard "Sounds like it Richard. Be glad ta get outta this place an someplace I can spend tha coin on drink an new weapons." then the dwarf heads off to the door indicated and waits until everyone is with him before opening it and proceeding through it to where ever it leads.
