Feargus
Dodges out of the way of the falling behemoth and skips past loose stones to close on the remaining brute. He brings his mace around again, trying to catch the giant's flank.

Re: IC II
Round Two
The melee continues. The mercenaries mostly make themselves scarce; they're archers, accustomed to firing upon the foe from a distance while on horseback, and have no desire to tangle with brutes twice the height of a man. Gardo and Notai both deal blows to the giant they're facing, with Notai darting in and then back. Telemachus sends another volley of magical missiles at the giant facing Casfrea, and it crumples to the ground as the dangerous darts burrow deep into its flesh.
Casfrea is overcome with rage, a blinding, white hot fury that takes over her being. She leaps forward to engage the remaining giant, but slips on the ground and her swing goes wild. The large brutish humanoid is able to fend off the remaining blows. It swings, catching Casfrea as she attempts to right herself, but Gardo quickly ends it life with a well-timed blow.
Casfrea shakes herself out of her rage. Two of the four giants now lie dead.

Gardo
As the giant goes down, Gardo lets out a exultant yell. "Good strike," he says to Notai as he swivels around. He continues to turn and look for something else to attack. After a moment, concern tinges his voice. "I thought there was four giants? That's two down. Where are the other two?"

It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

"I've got two Fireball spells left. Let's go find them. But first, let's see to our wounded."
The mage walks over to check on Casfrea.

He'll gesture for Ribar to start and will lend him a hand where needed.

Telemachus
After making sure that Casfrea is ok, the mage orders the remaining mercs to keep watch. "The noise of the battle may draw attention."
He then searches the bodies of the dead giants.

Feargus
"Yeah, not how we wanted this to go. Stay sharp everybody. If the other two don't show up soon, I say we move quickly on the camp. We don't know which two this was...the two that were seen in the camp or the two who were not in the camp."

Re: IC II
Casfrea seems to be okay. She's suffered some injuries, but is tough. A search of the giants reveals little. They're both dressed in skins, their weapons crudely carved tree trunks. One of them has a large sack tied to its belt, containing some slabs of dried meat of an indeterminate origin as well as 900 gold coins. The coins look to be old, of a mint that Telemachus is not familiar with. On one side is a lion, rampart, and on the other side the profile of a regal looking woman with long hair.sulldawga wrote:Telemachus

Fourthmonth, Twentiethday
Hex 237.117
Thus decided, the mercenaries are left behind to care for the wounded soldier and bury their dead while the rest of the party presses on northwards. It is early afternoon before the party approaches to within a quarter mile of where the camp is. The giants' presence is obvious; trees have been knocked down or bent, leaves stripped from branches, great patches of earth disturbed. A thin mist of woodsmoke filters through the trees, bearing with it the smell of roasting meat.

"Ok, quickly and quietly. Newt, Notai - Do you two want to try to take a look?"
