We've dropped Rangle and his bunch off - did that free up cargo space for us?

(OOC: From memory it will free up Low Berth spaces as his mercs all were "frozen" for the trip to Jenghe).

"Sure," Zaki says as she focuses on her HUD.
"We're going to Extolay next?" She reads for a moment.
"Okay, so Extolay has a lot more local manufacturing and less agriculture. There's also a large Vargr population there. So, we're looking for something agriculture-related, or some sort of niche product Extolay doesn't have." She runs a search for local trade with Extolay-based businesses and customers to augment Carlos' search efforts.

Zaki finds a trade broker who is selling Sea Prawns. These are supposed to be something of a delicacy. They might sell well on Extolay. You can buy them for speculative trade at 1,500 cr per ton and he has as many as 55 tons available.
Carlos finds a couple of freight lots available for shipment to Extolay: 3 tons and 5 tons. You'd earn 1,000 cr per ton you ship from Jenghe to Extolay.
No clue how much space we have, or even what's in the Ship Fund. Eduardo had that info.

Sigrun adds "Baltus is a good man. I told him I was going to tell the locals about Rangle and offered him the chance to try to stop me and he did the decent thing. He is an honourable warrior but has given his oath to the Corporates so I think he serves them as much as he has to".
On hearing about the trade options she offers "Let's buy Sea Prawns. Maybe I can sharpen up my trade Gvegh enough to open up the Vargr market?"
She grins at Zaki with genuine warmth and, rolling her eyes, replies "Øx - axe if you must. A hatchet is an embarrassingly small thing to be seen with. You are just cross because I have revealed your "medical science" to be the same as warming up food".
Changing tack entirely she states "Extolay must have more Vargr restaurants for us to try!"

I don't recall if we ended up talking to the Belters in the system or just thought hard about it...they might happily give us a wish list for goods on the return leg or have something for us to take on a spec cargo.

Without going back to look, I think we just planeted and dropped off the passengers.

Sigrun contacted the Belters and informed them of the threat from the "Evil Corporation" and its new bully boy along the lines of "If they go for the fishing unions then watch out - you're next".
And because she is a subversive element in the Imperium...
As a PS I can't necessarily see her wanting to be kidnapped on the "Love Boat" and ending up (deep in the Imperium she loathes) in Daibei!
Mind you, that's a journey of J "quite a few" - and we've only pulled J2 so far!!

Between now and then, there's a lot to do, and we'd probably end up visiting Darrian first, anyway. I'm sure that plenty of other adventures will pop up before Carlos and Zaki can start trailward to Vincennes and, eventually, across the Rift to Diabei.
Oh, I entirely agree!
Sigrun's all up for visiting Darrian - although she likes Darrians as much as Imperials! Swordies are such good neighbours...
There's some mighty fine territory to travel through to reach Darrian - where everybody speaks the
right language!
I think Sigrun tearfully licking the postage stamps to stick on Carlos and Zaki's "fridges" is the scene just before the credits roll on Series One!

Two days before scheduled departure Pedro contacts Sir baltus to confirm the number and disposition of passengers and their cargo, and determines just how much remaining cargo space we have available. He'll arrange for a scheduled slot for refuelling on the day of departure and spends a little time on the navcomp working out a jump solution to our next destination (Extolay, right? ) . The next time he sees Carlos he says
"When you have some free time, work up the jump solution for Extolay, then we'll compare results. "
Once he knows how much free cargo space we have he texts everyone's comms.
Crew meeting tonight after dinner to plan the next jump, cargo, etc. Anticipated departure in two days.
The best I can find for our space and credits is here viewtopic.php?f=420&t=7341 We got right into the bombs, the storm and dealing with Rangle upon arrival, So I don't remember when.if we determined how much we made or even if it was stuff we were selling here. With Eduardo's departure we do need to have some sort of OOC reset on our finances, etc, because I wasn't keeping track.

Carlos nods. "On it, Skipper. Oh, and no chance of getting Eduardo to come back? I've been studying up on brokering, might wanna see if we can swipe the Ling manual on it when we get back to Regina..."

We're gonna have to do SOMETHING to keep the nut covered and fill those holes in our checking accounts. Mebbe recruit a master broker someplace?
OBTW. I'll be in the hospital next week, getting a colostomy reversed. Not a tricky surgery, but if it breaks when I get home and I don't catch it in a few hours, it could kill me...
Just sayin;

For now, we have support from the company. Once we get back to Regina, though, we will definitely have to have something in place.

I agree as above. However, for now, I suppose we could just wait and cross that bridge when we come to it.
If we don't want to burn our fingers on speculative trade and brokerage should we just ship standard freight at the standard rate?

"Here's what LSP wants from your group." says Haber, "We are rotating out Managers at several stations from here to Rangent. That means sending a ship out that will pass through Jenghe, Extolay, Phlume, and then a jump 2 to Rangent. So, we want to contract your new ship to transport high passengers: 2 to Jenghe, 2 to Extolay, 2 to Phlume and 2 all the way to Rangent and then the reverse to bring back the managers from those systems. That would be 400,000 credits total. Any remaining passages and cargo is your to do with as you wish."
LSP is taking 50 tons of your 156 tons of cargo space, you get 10 tons back at each stop. So, at Jenghe, you have 116 tons of space you can fill.
2. Take 41 tons of Spec cargo and 65 tons of freight (maxing Priority/Security cargo) and using your Broker skill:
pay out 68 Kcr before you jump
earn a range of from 315 Kcr to 1,350 Kcr when you sell on Jenghe
guaranteed profit of: 247 Kcr to 1,282 Kcr (EV = 472 Kcr)
You picked this option. Before he left you Edwardo sold the cargo for 394.2 Kcr, then took 300 Kcr from it paying off the loans he fronted 3 of the PC's.
You have, um, I can't find the exact amount, but it's right at 800 Kcr in your account right now, so let's say it's 800 Kcr.
You spent roughly 100 Kcr on ship repairs just now. You will own 150 Kcr (mortgage payment) when you arrive at Extolay, plus another 50 Kcr (or so) for expenses. I'd say you have about 500 Kcr in discretionary funds at this time.
That 500 Kcr should be plenty to buy Spec Cargo for Extolay and fill up the rest of the hold with freight (remember freight is paid up front).
You have no High/Mid Passenger slots because LSP paid for them all, but do have 10 Low Passenger slots you can fill.

With two days to jump Sigrun sets to being a "Merchant". Due to her limited understanding of the technicalities she "interprets" the role to the best of her entirely ruthless ability.
Her first priority is the easy option - she attempts to fill the Low Berths for the jump to Extolay. She emphasises the expert medical care on board including both human health care professional
s (ooops, that plural just slipped out!
) and an autodoc.
She then speaks (face to face via a G Carrier flight) with her new buddies in the Fisherman's Union and tight beams her contacts in the Belt letting it be known that she has cargo space and a very discrete data transfer service for hire running off planet. Cargo space that Ling might not be "quite so aware of" ... who doesn't love irony.
(Sword Worlders do - most of their planets have irony names...
)
With absolutely no broker or trading skill she shamelessly taps up the Union man she warned about Rangle and, with entirely good natured ruthlessness, asks him to ensure we get the best "mate's rates" price on the export prawns we were looking at. She, of course, pays for the bar tab - all night. Sigrun has some experience here and goes gently as she leverages both the crew's relief work and the anti Ling position she has taken as regards Rangle.
(OOC: Please bill me with how much the Union man decides the "drinks" should cost to ensure the "right" price. Sigrun and her accomplice John Lee are both "Trading" with Streetwise 1).

I got you a really good deal on the Sea Prawns.
Sigrun makes a contact with the Union Leader that might be useful next time you come through Jenghe.
If you haven't looked at the Trading Data/Diary, please do! I'm going to have ONE post per week of game time there to summarize what happened and any financial transaction that are made. The first post is a google doc on my Onedrive account. I'll add Crew info as you give it to me...use the OOG: Game thread to give me that. If you think something else should be added to the data sheet tell me there, too.
