Vhing Cranepool

"Could all be a bit of a test for us Ermulf, from Juli and co. Poor bloke on his own down there is probably the janitor and he's made a few bunks up for us to sleep in. Hope Jerv don't go and chop his head off. Sure Juli won't be pleased with her knight of valour doing away with one of her acolytes." Vhing tugs on the trousers of Ben. "We should look our best in case her lord and ladyships come for an inspection".

Jónas Gillman

"Let's interrogate him!" Jónas says to his mates. "We can, umm, hit him later if he doesn't answer," he adds, trying to sound offensive and threatening.

Just in case, he has his pole ready.

Surprise Round

Burly takes advantage of the startled man by quickly whacking him in the head with his rolling pin. He stumbles a bit from the blow but does not go down. Doubtful threatens the man and watches his surroundings closely.

The man immediately backs away from the mob that is quickly setting upon him. As he does so he yanks a nasty looking broadsword up from the stool next to him. You can now see that the man also has a dagger strapped to his belt.

He doesn't attack, but tries to back away from you with his large sword point extended in your direction. Although he is trying to act tough, you can still see his surprise and the fear in his eyes. He looks at Doubtful and shouts.

What the bloody hell is this? One man with a buncha kids? These all your little rats then, mate?

He then loudly shouts in the direction of the beds as he continues to back away.

HEY!!! GET IN HERE, GENTS!!! HAVE A LOOK SEE AT WHO'S JUST COME TO SAY HELLO!!!

Ok, now we can do
Actions for Round One!

Injuries:
Jonas, slightly
Vhing, seriously

Hearing the commotion below, Keilif tries to make his way down the stairs. He stresses to the others, "Sounds like trouble. Better get down there."

Danny Cruester

joins in the fun (space permitting). He thinks that a humane way of defusing this unpredictable musician would be to cast fish eye on him.

Doubtful

I told you not to yell. You want to see bad manners? I'll show you bad manners.

Doubtful picks up a chair and throws it at the man, trying to distract him and keep him on the defensive. Also trying to make him focus on the flying chair instead of party members who may this very second be moving in to strike...

Vhing Cranepool

Vhing is stationed at the back, waiting his turn behind Ben, Erm and Keiliff to go below. He cannot see into the room and can only just about hear the commotion kicking off. Impatiently Vhing studies the empty room, trying to cast an eye around for any trigger or rune which may provoke the laughing-fear ghost voice to reappear. He will go check out the open trapdoor, keyhole and perhaps near the doors looking for curious features. He hopes that his past experiences in burglary may help him discover any protective wards or runes and so give a clearer picture of the type of 'janitor' who may haunt this mansion. Vhing rolled a 4d6 hard skill check = 12, 5d6 very hard skill check = 16 for his investigation.

How does he back away when he is stuck to the floor?

Burly tries to whack him again...but misses horribly.
Rolling Pin Attack: [1d20] = 1, [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Jónas Gillman, the gill-man

Jónas gives up: pacifism and diplomacy won't work with this weird dude living under the floorboard. So (if he can attack this round) he takes a good swing at him with the pole:
Attack with 10' pole: [1d20] = 19, damage [1d4] = 3
