Yes, you did. Feel free to re-roll the correct damage die [1d4] and post the results.
Actually, I did this for you. For one, I wanted to test the dice roller after wolfpack reported receiving an error, but I was also really interested in seeing whether or not the new roll would have an impact on the game.

It did.

R14 | Shannigans dagger damage: [1d4] = 4

---

That changes things. The revised action post actually posted first (right above this), but this was an open post I had started to compose that mentions that I made the damage re-roll, but also why.

Initiative for the north:

initiative [1d10] = 4

Kaltar finally times his swing perfectly, perhaps the Trog was distracted by Strom's appearance:

Mace Action To Hit [1d20] = 18 Dam [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

Hopefully with Strom's help that is the last one done for!

The halfling wildly swings his dagger at the creature again (b9) hoping to kill it and then run south to get south of Gwilt, one he knows to be a formidable fighter against these nasties.
dagger [1d20] = 9

Well, in that case.....
Watching the trog fall before him, and seeing the exit, Shanny will bolt for the door, listening for advice once behind Gwilt's cloaktails.

Would Epsilon's backup action be to attack with his mace? The three approaching troglodytes are mere steps away, and rushing to engage quickly. If they act first, they'll be on top of you before you're able to even get the rag lit.

I have everything I need except for:
1) Action for Grim
2) Action for Strom
3) Potentially revised action for Epsilon

Grim continues to shuffle south more confident after the last kill. One of the trogs step over it's bloodied tribesman and slips in the gore.
Scimitar [1d20+4] = 20+4 = 24 Thac0: 20 Damage:[1d10+3] = 9+3 = 12
Critical Scimitar [1d20+4] = 7+4 = 11 Thac0: 20 Damage:[1d10+3] = 3+3 = 6

Grim howls seeing the trogs lowered defenses and swings violently over head bringing his curved blade down on the beast and splitting it from crown to crotch.

I am not sure which side Strom is on, ours or the Trogs. Lets see!

Strom turns to strike the Trog engaged with Kaltar hoping to drop him quickly and then turn back to face the others.

Attack:
[1d20] = 1

Ok seriously, WTF!!!! Two natural "1" in a row???!!! F**K THIS CHARACTER!
It is confirmed, Strom is with the Trogs -> ENEMY AGENT!

I'm on my phone so I won't quote the post on question and carve out the specific piece I'm about to comment on but, tooley, you need to update the damage die you're rolling for your scimitar from 1d10 to 1d8.

You critically hit this round so we're good, but do update for future rounds.

---

I expect to be able to post the round 15 update during my lunch hour.

I so... If a foxmoor fan shows up at you front yard like Matt Shaub's, you will know why.

Refusal! :)

So... is that coming from this rule?

Code: Select all

Racial Abilities
In addition to all the racial abilities found in the 1E PHB (pages 15-18), each player will get to choose one extra racial ability from a secret list the DM possess. Please notify the DM if you select a non-human race for your character and the two of you can discuss the appropriate options.
If not, where?

Yes, from there, which I sometimes forget about, (except for Shannigans ability for some reason).

To the North
Grimnail, more confident after the last kill, step back into the passageway. He howls and swings his curved blade violently over his head and kills yet another troglodyte (c3) with his typical barbarian bravado (+20xp). However, as the beast feels the life force within it seeping away, it uses its last ounce of strength to spear the barbarian with its javelin (-8hp), nearly critically.

The other scaly beast (c2) mixing it up with Grim at the intersection avoids the falling form of its companion and follows the barbarian into the main passageway. It stabs at the half-orc unsuccessfully.

Steps further south into the passageway, the troglodyte now sandwiched between Kaltar and Strom keeps its focus on the cleric, but stabs wildly.

Strom turns to strike the trog engaged with Kaltar (a9), hoping to drop him quickly and then turn back to face the others, but his focus is too distracted and, even attempting to attack the creature unaware and from behind, missed badly.

Kaltar, facing the beast head on, finally times his swing and sends his mace crashing into the swamp beast trapped between he and and Strom, wounding it.

---

Stuck in the Middle
Darrin enters the bend in the main passageway and catches a glimpse at the scene he has been slowing backing into. With Kaltar and Strom both engaging the lone enemy in the tunnel to the north, the group to the south appears more compromised. He switches the lantern he's carrying from his primary to his off-hand and nervously holds his longsword in front of him as he makes the decision to shift his focus to the south and moves to just behind the chef, careful not to startle the other light-bearer... which reminds the young lad that those he left behind will likely still need light, so he rushes back, sets the lantern down at the bend, and hurries back.

Fimmion places light source he is holding down and focuses his attention on binding Ewell's wounds, planning on holding up the lightsource once again if Darrin doesn't pick it up first.

---

To the South
The original beast which has been attacking Epsilon (b8) continues its assault but misses to the parrying cleric.

The incoming troglodytes arrive quickly.

The closest (c4) stops at the first target its spies -- Epsilon -- and attempts to skewer the cleric, but is unsuccessful.

The second (c5) rushes past the doubled-up cleric and spies Shannigans attempting to scurry past. It attempts to pin the hobbit With an overhead stab of its javelin but misses badly, allowing the halfling to escape.

The last troglodyte (a8) spies Gwillt approaching to assist Epsilon and attempts to pierce the ranger but is unable to connect.

Watching the trog fall before him, and seeing the exit, Shanny bolts for the door. He is nearly intercepted by the second of the new swamp creatures, but manages to avoid being struck and continues his retreat south down the passageway leading towards the exit. While he looked to remain at Gwillt's cloaktails, the ranger has advanced back into the fray. The hobbit pulls the hood of his cloak over his head and drops low, hoping to hide from view while he decides his next course of action.

Gwillt avoids the attack from the last of three incoming beasts and continues with his plan to assist Epsilon, who's now facing two creatures! A perfectly executed slash down the front of the swamp creature (b8) slices it from head to belly (+20xp).

Epsilon uses the distraction caused by Gwillt to slip behind the ranger and into the passageway, where he almost steps on the diminutive form of Shannigans without realizing it.

With a scream of futile rage Strom abandons any attempt at finess of swordplay and slashes at the trog before him with all his might.

Attack:

Damage:
[1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

For the briefest of moments, Gwillt wonders how he is suddenly facing several trogs all on his own once more... Then he worries about it no more as desperation and rage guide his sword and he attempts to reduce their numbers yet again.

Initiative [1d10] = 8

He quickly eyes up the two trogs in his path (a8 and c4) and goes after the smaller or weaker looking of the two, thinking if he can reduce their numbers by one then he stands a better chance of living through this...

To Hit, Scimitar [1d20+4] = 15+4 = 19
Damage, Scimitar [1d8+3] = 7+3 = 10

(If you want me to pick a target, then I'll go with... c4?)
