The first few paragraphs after my self-rescuing princess was forcibly enhanced by machines that both didn't care whether she wanted the implants or not, and left no instruction manual.terrymixon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:27 pmI already have one self-rescuing princess with high-end combat implants that favors powered armor. Kelsey Bandar, second in line to the Imperial Throne of the Terran Empire, fell with a crash loud enough to turn every head in the physical therapy center. She lay there in the deafening silence, staring at the metal support bar in her hand. She’d ripped it completely out of the floor and bent it.
“Really?” The blonde noblewoman snorted bitterly and dropped the mangled bar. It landed with a substantial clang. She rolled onto her back and stared at the white-tiled ceiling.
“That may be a first for me,” Doctor Lily Stone, chief medical officer of the Imperial Terran Fleet destroyer Athena, said dryly. “Normally, the patient gives out before the equipment. You’ll forgive me if I don’t offer you a hand up.”

Bah! See there! You made this a video game. Respawning encourages acts of great recklessness.

True, but Walt will remember in vivid detail how it feels to drown. PTSD for sure.
Re: The Starport Dive
Hmm. Are you confusing Teleportation with Clairvoyance? Clairvoyance requires a psionic to project in a bearing, range, and azimuth from present position? Teleportation merely requires a mental image of the destination from some source (been there or the image implanted via psionic means).
…plus the range to that location requires sufficient strength pts.
I know, I’m being a rules Nazi!
Well now ops test Metz’ brilliance!

I think I see where you are going. Back to the cave? You should have said that more clearly. I will roll for that. You're under a lot of pressure, so we'll see. I kinda want to kill all rules lawyers, so there might be a negative DM.Thumper wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 11:48 pm Hmm. Are you confusing Teleportation with Clairvoyance? Re: The Starport Dive
No! Don’t! Let this play out. Will be fun. I was just quibbling that I , Thumper, had it in mind to do other things (very rational and IAW the rules, I might add) based on the PC’s (imaginary) actual reality.
Let this scenario play…

If you guys don't spell out the specifics, I get to make things up that make sense to me.

Re: The Starport Dive
I figured Terry might try to kill Walt since his pre-op brief said never go off alone!

Very nicely done! The visual really help to define the characters even if they are not perfect representations.terrymixon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:29 pmYou've got her, I think.Tiglath wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:01 pm Funnily enough I blundered across the below on the internets and thought it depicted something of the dynamic between Garvin and Aster. Or maybe you just need the attitude to go with the mysterious civilization motif.terrymixon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:27 pm

From Post #339:
After thinking about it, Walt will change out the body pistol for the Accelerator Pistol and a couple mags.
Are all the other advanced rifles and the the Maser Pistol obviously Ancients in appearance? Could any be credibly passed off as a Metz advanced creation? Also, that fusion pistol you found in the Ancients city doesn't really look like it is of Ancients manufacture. It looks like something a human would make, rather than a Dryone. Maybe one of the servitors cooked it up. Or maybe someone else built it and it made its way there. You'll likely never know.

Re: The Starport Dive
None of the weapons in Mad Dog’s hidden cache are of obviously Ancients origin, extremely high tech origin will get a lot of attention anyway.Thumper wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:58 pm From Post #339:
So the Fusion Pistol is, or at least appears, non-Ancient? So, easily passed off as a Metz creation. Also, that fusion pistol you found in the Ancients city doesn't really look like it is of Ancients manufacture. Walt would holster that in a chest holster under his suit jacket in place of a body pistol.

Sure, but credibly explainable…At least to high authorities.
Ion and fusion/plasma weapons are common at TL 14/15…same as Accelerator Weapons… so shouldn’t be too difficult Metz-slain, right? The Maser, Sunbeam, and Disintegrator…”Lucy? You got some ‘splaining to do!”

Explainable? Yes. Draw every person in the sector that wants that tech at any cost? Also yes. Have the authorities impound the for public safety (and to reverse engineer)? Once again, yes.Thumper wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 2:35 pm Sure, but credibly explainable…At least to high authorities.
