Hex will repack his backpack once his perimeter stones are in place. Raffi will offer to take the spellbook in his own pack for now to help decrease the gnome’s encumbrance, if he is still as weak in the morning.

If he can get four hours rest he will cast detect invisibility to be rid of it and then rememorise Phantom Armour twice after the rest, and two colour spray spells, and his mirror image, then cast the phantom armour spells on both he and Raffi, and then settle down to rest for the six hours necessary to recover the rest of his spells. If they manage to remain concealed through the night of course.

(If that’s not how spell rememorisation is working in this game he will just learn those in the morning if he gets the chance from the rest)

Few notes, I wondered if I was too subtle but the Gnome's normal strength has returned

You can memorize different spells without having to cast the ones you are getting rid of.

The relevant house rule is
Spell Recovery:
A full 8 hours of rest is necessary to retrieve any spells and abilities. If you can rest somewhat comfortably, with no disruptions like battle etc., you can recover all spells and spell related abilities, (lay hands, etc.) regardless of your current level. (M.U.'s and Ill's. will obviously need a viable light source to read by) This can only be done once in a 24 hour period. I don't allow multiple rest periods in the same day. You can rest as much as you like for as many hours as you like, but you will only get one set of spells per 24 hour period.

Will have gone alone. As indicated, a 20-30 minute reconnoiter at a decent speed, sword not drawn.
Androgost rides faster than Qleceec can walk and is makes sure he leaves the Ranger behind. She can choose to attempt to travel alone or say at the camp.

Posting to Androgost's private thread.

Roger that. He will memorise two Phantom Armour spells and two colour sprays and his mirror image and a Paralyzation for the morning once he’s had 8 hours of rest.

Why is he moving at 6” then? I thought all PCs could carry 1500gp without being encumbered, and because of his strength he can only carry 1350gp without being encumbered. And he’s carrying currently just under 600gp including his clothes, but not including his gems, and also 217 golds.

Not sure where this 1500 gp (150 lbs) is coming from. On pg 101-102 of the PH is says (ignoring the bulky part here)

0-35 lb is 12"
35.1-70 lb is 9"
70.1-105 is 6"
105.1+ is 3"

Then there is the house rule
Base Movement Rates

Humans, Elves, Half-elves, Half-orcs all have the normal 12" move with appropriate adjustments for armor and encumbrance.

Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings start with a 9" move, but are not lowered for encumbrance until they would be lowered to a 6" or less.

For your character you have a 6 STR which lowers the numbers all by 15 lbs and when you had a 3 STR you were lowered by 35 lbs.
Since you have about 80+ lbs of stuff on your character that is how I got the 6" and the 3"

In the Jotens - Back to the trail
Evening Starday, 8th day of Planting, 597
3rd day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 48/63)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 55/65, Armor 21/26) - horse
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 46/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 33/48) - horse
Garrant (AC 8, HP 24/50)
Hex (AC 5, HP 19/27)
Raffi (AC 6, HP 16/21)
Boff (AC 5, HP 49/61) - horse
Franny (AC 4, HP 26/26) - horse

As the group waits for Androgost to return with or without their missing horses, how would you the remaining group like to set up watches?

Qleceec

Qleceec will just take the time to rest and watch.

Nah Olos continues his patrol / pacing, but speaks up. "I will take my usual middle watch."

Hex clears his throat. I am afraid all of us spellweavers need a full 8 hours of rest if we are to recover our magics, and then some memorisation time. the gnome says, looking at Garrant, Sousixie and Franny with a shrug.

I am happy to take my watch, Raffi says sincerely with a smile.

Androgost

Androgost returns to the group after about only 10 minutes. He says "The Shtelke are reestablishing a presence at the area of the hanging topaz. The dragon possessed one of the Shtelke and asked if I was here to pay the toll.

I told them 'No, I have returned to better understand you and your people. We mean no harm but our society and people do not react well to negotiations starting with the other party requesting tribute to an unknown entity.'

The dragon was not in a negotiating mood and said something like 'I assume you are from the Yeomanry League, so you are telling me that everyone would have to meet Marius Lindon the Spokesman for the Yeomanry League to pay a toll? You use the word negotiations, but this is not a negotiation. If you want to travel through MY lands you will pay or die. I made the choice to not kill you and your friends - do not make me regret that decision.'

With that I returned here. I do not think that is the last we have seen of them."

For the record spanningtree quit the game not wanting to be the party leader. I wish him only the best.

"Our previous nights watches were
  1. Garrant, Hex, and Boff
  2. Qleceec, Nah, and Raffi
  3. Siouxsie, Franny and Androgost

Perhaps we should go with the same. We will need to be vigilant!"

Garrant is happy with those watches too.

He has a CLW available before we retire for the night.

Don't waste the CLW, just about everyone needs it. Maybe Raffi?

Boff (AC 5, HP 49/61) - horse
Franny (AC 4, HP 26/26) - horse

Garrant, Hex, and Boff start the first watch, about 90 minutes into the watch the group is aware of a group of voices yelling short sounds at the camp. It is like there are four people (one at NE, NW, SW and SE) having a conversation in a language that none of you understand. The groups best guess is that they are perhaps 80' from the camp.

Actions?

FYI - You can cast any spells just before memorizing if you wish.

Hex gets up from his sitting position and puts his finger to his lips. He moves towards Androgost and shakes him gently awake, putting his hand over the cavaliers mouth to indicate he needs to be quiet.

Someone’s coming. he hissed quietly. From every direction it sounds like

Siouxsie

When woken and situation explained.

My first instinct is that each of the figures are positioned so as to cast a ritual spell and bind us within it.

So, I will use my Speak with Animals spells to communicate to the horses (one animal type) and ask them to do us a favour and go stampede around those invoking the witchery upon us. Four horses, sending one in direction hopefully.

She whinnies, snorts, stamps her feet and bucks in her equine communication. "Crazy horses."
