Wes

Wes hesitates for a moment as the boar charges. Shalm help us! We came in peace! Another moment. He looks at Bonnie as she ducks behind the obilisk and makes his decision.

The druid stands with his feet apart and extends his left arm, as a falconer would. Drawing a feather from his belt pouch with his right hand, he uses it to draw several sigils in the air. Finally he makes a loud screech.

Suddenly, the glowing outline of a large hawk appears upon Wes' wrist. In a flash, it shoots into the air, covering the distance to the boar in an instant. Screaming, it slashes at the boar's face then swiftly banks and makes another attack.

Hunter's Hawk (THACO 18) [1d20] = 6; Dmg: [1d4] = 3

Hunter's Hawk (THACO 18) [1d20] = 1; Dmg: [1d4] = 2

With a final screech, the hawk dissipates into hundreds of fading particles.
Hunter’s Hawk (Evocation)

Level: 1
Component: V, S,
Range: 60’+10’/level
Casting Time: 2 segments
Duration: 1 round
Saving Throw: None
Area of Effect: Special

This spell creates a glowing outline of a hawk that suddenly swoops out of the air. The druid may direct the hawk to attack one of his/her opponents. A roll to hit the opponent's AC is required. The hawk will inflict 1-4 points of damage.

For every three levels of experience gained, the hawk may swoop around to make another attack (e.g. one attack at levels 1-3, two at levels 4-7 etc.). It may attack the same target or another nominated by the druid.

Grimm will try to hide among the bushes close to Wes and Avaala before the lizards notice him, now that the druid has made his attack, with his sword at the ready.

Thanks! It's a pity that the dice roller wasn't a bit more cooperative on it's debut. :(

Cealwyn Blackthorn

The ranger takes advantage of the distraction provided by the onrushing boar to slip free of the lizardmen on either side of him (I hope--should I need to roll, let me know) and draw his sword, leaping to Bonnie's side and attempting to guard her back.

He braces himself for the beast to charge, flicking his eyes at the lizardmen and back to the boar before grinning savagely.

"A monster to give a man a glorious death," he growls almost gleefully. "Come, beast," he calls. "The gods of war smile down from their high mountain this day. Let us not disappoint them!"

Avaala the Grey

Avaala considers Wes question about the birds. "Well, they didn't come out til after the flying lizard left. It may be that they have just been waiting for that and the lizard cannot get to them through the hut thatch. Or perhaps the shaman controls the thing. I know I was surprised to see it just sitting there amongst the village. Seems unlikely without some sort of enchantment."

As the boar charges at Bonnie and Wes casts his spell to attack it, Avaala watches the Slizards carefully, hoping that between their excitement, and the noise, they will fail to note the Druid, as well as himself and Drakkar.

The Obelisk
Now What?
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Bonnie grows frustrated enough with the inability to communicate to do something rash, leaping towards the obelisk to an obvious audible gasp from the slizards. Cealwyn sees her action unfolding and leaps upon the raised stone ring behind her as the huge boar closes in on the duo.

The slizards dont attack, but their chanting of "Boar-uss" continues all the same, intensifying once the obelisk is neared, despite the fact that the huge boar has already made its appearance. Chauncey is just about to object when he is grabbed by the pair of slizardmen next to him. "Ummm, yes, well, this is unexpected, isn't it?" GENTLEMEN? IF YOU WOULD, PLEASE!!!" He shouts to his hidden friends in no particular direction as he struggles against his captors.

The druid notices that Grimm and Avaala have stayed in the foliage behind him as he takes the time to summon a magical image of a hawk that quickly zips towards the boar. The apparition swoops and claws at the animal, but isn't able to injure the much larger foe. Luther steps out of the jungle to fire an arrow at the boar, but his shot flies wide. Paul, with no ranged weapon of his own, sprints from the bush towards the pair holding onto the groups leader.

None of the slizards move towards the obelisk in any way, avoiding the lowest ring of stone as if their life depended on it. Their chanting does draw another creature from the large hut however, one that Luther and Paul spot first once it enters the doorway.

The boar attempts to skewer Cealwyn unsuccessfully as he blocks its path at Bonnie while she presses her hand upon the print on the placard, hoping it will light up.....or something. Her assumption appears to be solid when the monolith suddenly starts to glow brightly as soon as the handprint is touched. The slizards immediately cease their chant and drop to their knees, bowing and nodding at the now glowing beacon. Their sudden change of mood doesn't stop the boar, or the new monster about to exit the hut either, as they both continue their advance. Bonnie notices that the print on the plaque is shifting around to form red letters now instead. The giant orange colored flying lizard suddenly returns, buzzing around the top of the lit obelisk, apparently attempting to glide over or hover in the stream of light escaping the pinnacle of the tall, lone structure.

Apologies for mis-naming Avaala's companion. Wrong Dwarf. Sorry, Grimm!

And... OM, did the Slizards, or anything else, seem to have noticed Wes, Avaala and Grimm?

Avaala the Grey

Avaala stage whispers, "You two keep track of me. Don't mistake me for one of them."

Having seen quite enough, he steps out from the jungle just as Wes starts his next incantation. While Wes's identity remains the same, the young grey mage suddenly changes his appearance to look a lot more like one of the many slizards standing around the circle, hoping his ruse will work long enough for him to get closer to the brutes holding his friend so he can try using his magic on them, if necessary.

"Treasure," he thinks. "Stay here and keep an eye on me. If I look like I need help, you're the backup, OK?"
"There is no spoon."

Luther
Luther charges toward the dust-up. His destination is a spot on a line between the cage and the obelisk, where he can see the boar and Big Ugly coming out of the hut. He lets out a full-throated roar as he runs, hoping to draw the attention of the monsters.
My rough count says it's about 45' to his destination, so he'll hold fire until he arrives.

Wes

Wes curses as his new spell proves ineffective. Ach! Wes, you couldn't hit a cow's arse with a mandolin!"

He curses again when he sees the new monster emerge. "I knew we should have got closer to that big hut!"

"Whatever that thing is, I don't like the look of it",
he says. "I'll see if I can slow it down". He begins to cast the magic that brings alive the grasses and weeds that will grasp and hold their opponents.

He is casting Entangle about halfway between the new monster and the slizard about 4 squares diagonally in front of it. Trying to snag the monster and 2-3 of the slizards.

Grimm sighs when he sees that no slizard is coming against them, rending his plans for a stab in the back ineffective. He sheathes his sword and starts climbing a tree.

Climb Walls (75℅) [1d100] = 38

Once up there he gets he crossbow ready.

Whatever the number of rounds this takes, tho se will be his actions.

Cealwyn Blackthorn

The ranger glares at the boar in front of him, his sword weaving back and forth as he gathers himself to strike. "My turn, darling..."

He leaps forward, ducking low and coming up to slash hard at the beast's neck.

To hit: [1d20 + 1] = 14+1 = 15, Damage: [1d8 + 1] = 3+1 = 4, [1d12 + 1] = 3+1 = 4

He eyes the monster warily, his blood singing as the threat of death looms over them like the black shadow of the beast overhead.

Sorry for the delay everyone.

Since Bonnie is right in the middle of things here, I really need to hear from MR before I can update.

Hopefully it wont be much longer.

Fashionably Late
Bonnie

She keeps her hand on the sign, not daring to alter anything now that something is happening.

"Thanks." She blurts out a sincere gratitude to Cealwyn she notices his gallant action. The slizards' change in attitude gets her attention as does the creature overhead as it weaves around the beam of light. "What in the hells is going on?"

"Don't attack the slizards!" She yells at anyone in range. Then she quickly realizes that the beam of light is going to be visible for miles around, especially in the late afternoon.

"I think, I think, that we're going to have more visitors soon."

"Okay, master," Treasure thinks back, but be careful out there!"

Unsure what else to do, Grimm climbs up a few branches into the closest tree where he readies his crossbow.

Luther rushes from his cover in the jungle, screaming for the attention of the monsters. Several of the Slizards turn to look in his direction, but none of them move to intercept, still on their knees, bowing to the glowing obelisk. The pair holding Chauncey relinquish their grip when Paul comes charging in, all of the slizards still seemingly quite confused by the sudden string of strange events unfolding before them.

Cealwyn strikes hard at the angry boar trying to skewer him, slashing a wide wound across the things shoulder. It rears again, but the quick footed human dodges its attack for a second time.

With his highland ancestry showing, Wes bemoans his first attempt at his new spell that didn't go according to plan, as they rarely do. He tries a new approach, calling forth the plants in between the hut and the platform to come alive to ensnare his enemies. The three slizards at the edge of the stone riser are quickly enveloped by this sudden appearance of entwining vegetation, but the massive jungle beast exiting the hut is barely even slowed by the magic, its huge form tearing right through the mess, hindering it only slightly as it makes its way towards Cealwyn and Bonnie. When it arrives, it raises a huge fist, about to bring it down upon the ranger trying to kill its pet pig.

Chauncey is not upset to see Paul and Luther coming to his rescue, even though he isn't really being hurt by the slizards at all. The mage stammers for a bit as he reaches into his robes to pull out a slender wand, now that his hands are free. Paul gets close behind him, but out of sheer confusion, doesn't attack either of the green humanoids flanking the groups leader. The shaman slizard watches Bonnie with a confused expression, but doesn't move closer or attack her or the others in any way. The orange winged lizard continues to hover and bask in the magical light given off by the glowing obelisk overhead.

Seeing the image changing into writing of some kind, Bonnie keeps her hand pressed to the plaque, which covers most of the recognizable red letters. Even though she isn't sure if it is a good idea to remove her hand, she will have to in order to read the thing.

Wes

Seemingly unable to affect the giant beast, Wes turns his attention back to the boar. With his third spell, he tries to freeze the large animal in position.

Casts Hold Animal. A single animal gets -4 to it's saving throw.
